Title: Avalanche's Ironforge TC Showcase.
Post by: Avalanche on January 17, 2015, 04:23:40 AM
The Industrial Revolution, a SHW with so many red ballasts it collectively kills sage and naryar and the alcohol which fuels his creativity which has become its own personality.

Here is another bot.

Genetically Altered Pinsir.

On the first one I think Industrial Revolution would be a name much better suited to a spinning weapon rather than a hammer. Bot looks quite cool though.
On the second bot I think it would look far better with 4wd instead of tracks, the tracks just look awkward sticking out like that IMO.

Post by: Naryar on January 17, 2015, 10:12:30 AM
it needs a brown paintjob if it's going to be a pinsir

also it is underweight for an ironforge SHW. I feel that the threads are too small as well.

Threads? Im assuming you mean treads.

Mmm looks painful to touch.

The first one looks really nice. Kind of like Mortis. The other one I'm agreeing with Naryar that the tracks look a bit off. I'd either make it wider and put the tracks inside the chassis or swap for some wheels.
Title: Re: Avalanche's Ironforge TC Showcase.
Post by: Mr. AS on January 17, 2015, 10:32:01 PM
ja it needs bigger treads and a chassis wedge on the back

And I don't think you know how weight limit works in this game either. Ballast ups your weight limit by 50 for the first 4 ballasts and then each one after that counts toward your weight. HW limit is also 400 with no ballast when your bot has far surpassed that limit (yet it is still labeled as a HW).

3 bots for you all, 2 rebuilds and 1 remake.
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/10788The Industrial Revolution 2.png)
The spinning weapon request was delivered with a face spinner made out of knifes. I was tempted to do double axes but i kept that idea on the backburner. I also made the tracks larger because it looks even cooler and prevents the bottom of the FS grinding the ground.
Pinsir returns actually in the right weightclass. The sickles are actually very effective and snip out exposed parts. The knifes do a very nice flipping effect if a bot gets on top of them aswell.
Well it had to happen, didnt it?
This time the beaters are replaced with more knifes, and i have used steel blades to clamp bots under the flipper and drag around and score points.
Title: Re: Avalanche's Ironforge TC Showcase.
Post by: Naryar on January 19, 2015, 09:55:11 AM
that's it, now the treads are *too big*

also a FS with normaled weapons ? wut

i like that pinsir (apart from it not being brown, but that's just a detail), though i feel it would need more frontal armor

Tibsy, get out. You are completely incorrect to every level. Even your microwave is better than these bots. You should have got here earlier, you could have won some newcomer GTM awards.

I thank the fact you are complimenting me, but i am terrible. There is a reason I never won a tournament.

I was trying to make a tracked 180 degree hammer. It turned out into this. But i do have a nice design for a hammer soon.

Looks quite malicious.

What would look good on it would be a badarse picture of the 12 Gods of Olympus on top and bottom of the bot :D

Right, so far this is temporary. It's certainly an improvement though. (I might add clouds to the sides of the bot, not too sure yet)
(sorry if this looks rushed, making foods and stuffs for the GF)

BEHOLD! A NEW ROBOT!
Yeah, gonna be more active now that my current Laptop struggles to run Town Of Salem, and RA2 runs well on this = More RA2!
Behold the other remake of my classic DSL series, Blitzkrieg: Iron Warfare.

I think this is my first good robot in a long time!

I like this. Flipper looks cool.

I do think that the amount of wedges is a little excessive and am confused by the positioning of the ballast, but good job.

Edit: I also presume it's pretty damn fast?
Title: Re: Avalanche's Ironforge TC Showcase.
Post by: Avalanche on July 23, 2015, 11:45:29 AM
It is fast, indeed. I kinda need the wedges though, or the flipper is useless because the knifes dont have much wedginess of their own.
Title: Re: Avalanche's Ironforge TC Showcase.
Post by: helloface on July 23, 2015, 11:49:50 AM
"Good robot"
Yeah, no.
If it's Standard it has a bad wedge, not enough weapons, exposed chassis, and probably is too fast.

If it's IRL, the chassis has an odd shape and the only real outside components you put on to make it look pretty was the flipper, if that even counts. Plus the skin looks nooby.

hf shut the balls up you're not helping
give feedback at least instead of useless insults

yeah avalanche idk if it's the absolute toughest thing out there but it's not bad or anything. The speed will help make up for the narrow profile but the main weakness I see is lack of damage? I don't know how strong one IF beta is either. You might also want to put your ballasts on the front too to help the wedge.
does it have enough juice with just 2 batts?

all in all it is one of your better bots.

weaponed flipper.

also it's both irl and standard to me.

I made sure I picked the right amount of batteries. You may not have noticed, but i put Energizer batts next to the Beta. Fully powered. Hasnt yet been battletested, so watch this space in Battleshots.

It's not really IRL because of the way the arms line up with the chassis. (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/16289IMG_20150724_073005.jpg)
Fix that, and it will be IRL. Doesn't look too bad otherwise. If you made the chassis thinner it would probably look better though.

yea i agree with helloface, maybe make it a simple I shaped chassis instead of an U one

The chassis is so much wider than it needs to be, surely.

Chassis width looks fine imo, it just that the length seems to be a bit too long and the gap for the weapon motor is too big.

How come you noticed that and not that the rear of the robot is way too thin? If this was real life the robot would snap in half on contact.

It's much more obvious than that considering how it's nearly floating.

I dont quite get what you mean.

If i decrease one sides side, cant quite fit in the wep motor. I dont quite get what you mean by gap for the weapon motor, unless you mean the gap in the middle of the U. if so, yeah, kind of.

arnt you meant to make it so that there is minimum space inside the chassis and only enough to fit your parts? cause there's alot of space on avalanches bot.

if you don't know what do do with the extra weight you can always beef up the chassis armor/add some external armor

Lmao
It looks pretty good now, you should be able to pack a few more batteries in there though.

You're forgetting the ironforge weight rules. It's not very much underweight.

It'd look better if the flipper didn't seem to be attached to the body by such a flimsy bit of metal - try putting a 30degree flippermaker angled into the body on the back of each of the side back ones to give the impression of a heftier hinge, if you can.

just put them vertically in front of or behind the drive motors, there's space there.

not even sure if you need the duracels anyway
