Title: 8bean's Ironforge Showcase
Post by: 8bean on May 24, 2018, 04:15:49 PM
Man, I haven't booted up Ironforge in a while. The wingman tourney got me back though and I decided to slap some stuff together.

First off is Nail. Nail is a 399.8kg poker that is going to be competing in wingman with Plerco's bot, Hammer.

Next, here is JUMBO. JUMBO is a HUGE style VS that weighs 399.5k.

So yeah, those r my botbois.

wish there were internals. what drive and weapon power do they have?

they look solid though. nail's gonna suffer from damage but that's not really your fault and just more a sledge poker thing. wish there were a bit more wheel protection but it probably won't matter too much.

without internals its pretty hard to give advice for jumbo but it seems well built enough. might worry a little about the tail being too long and getting snagged on walls and stuff but if it works it works. having heavy chassis armor on this design would help a lot but idk what the armor is. if you need weight then you can probably ditch the sledges on the wheels and amp it up a couple ratings

Whoops. Totally forgot about that lol.
Here are the internals for Nail: Im pretty sure its armor is titanium 5

And here are the internals for JUMBO: I didnt set any armor but I will be editing it to have steel 10 by ditching the hammers on the wheels

sucks you couldn't get a supervolt in nail. i don't think theres anywhere you could put it.

also instead of just ditching the hammers you may want to replace them with even just like a light 20cm just to avoid all possibilities of getting stuck on the side

Here's my entry into Centauri that I should've uploaded a long time ago lol.

Introducing Pit Magnet Viper! A clampbot with very high wedges and not enough batteries.
Hopefully my next bot, coming soon to this showcaseTM, will be able to put on a much better performance

Centauri 2 entry incoming!

Hopefully this time will be different since the word pit isn't in the name
Also, You could say I've been bitten by the Ironforge building virus... Introducing Garter Snake!

The official successor to Pit Viper, this lightweight snake is really nippy and should have some pushing power.
Since I can only enter one bot into Centauri 2, if anyone would like to use it for that they may.

what weight plow is it? would definitely try to get a couple ballasts in there to keep it from going too fast and getting knocked around.

Its a light plow. That's the only one I could get in unless I make the armor less which its at alu 10. Also, I don't think there's a spot that the ballast can go in unless it intersects something

i mean you'll have to build the chassis, I really think it would be worth it though
light plow will probably be fine for LW.

Its been over a year since ive posted on this damn

I need to stop building bots that dont have room for ballasts

yea it needs ballasts imo

i would lower the plow strength and use it for more weapons mainly. you also don't necessarily need tracks (they're heavy) but its your call. looks pretty alright though. does it die if flipped?

Yeah I didn't think about how the bot would need to fully deweaponed before the plows would break so a downgrade would help a lot weight wise. Also if its flipped it kinda hobbles around on the weapons if it gets high centered on them so it won't get counted out unless the hammers and tribars are ripped off

you could potentially add on 30kg hammers but i'm not convinced hammers are all that amazing in IF (on spinners anyway). you might wanna use smaller tribars or disks and try a chained weapon setup like this (https://gametechmods.com/forums/ironforge-tc-showcases/geese-builds-if/msg753258/#msg753258) but that would make it a lot more bumble happy since the individual weapons are easier to take off.
