TOURNAMENT FORMAT
With the release of Robot Wars: The Official Handbook the format of Series Ten has been officially revealed.
  • Round 1: Group Battles: Two three-way battles are held in each heat, with only one outright winner, which will be decided by the Judges if necessary. The winner qualifies directly to Round 3, while the losers enter Round 2.
  • Round 2: Redemption Round: The losers of the Group Battles face each other in head-to-head battles, and only the winner will remain in the competition. It is determined which robot will fight which through their performance in the Group Battle, as whichever robot finished second in one Group Battle will face the robot which placed third in the other Group Battle of the heat.
  • Round 3: Semi Finals: Head-to-head battles between one winner of a Group Battle, and one winner of a Redemption Knockout. The winner qualifies for Round 5 (Heat Final), and the loser qualifies for Round 4 (3rd Place Playoff).
  • Round 4: 3rd Place Playoff: A head-to-head battle between the two robots which lost in Round 3. The winner claims third place within the heat, and qualifies for Round 6 (Wildcard Battle).
  • Round 5: Heat Final: The Heat Final between the two robots to remain undefeated in the episode. The winner of the Heat Final becomes the heat winner, and qualifies for the Grand Final directly, at the Round 7 stage. The loser is automatically placed in Round 6 (Wildcard Battle) alongside the third place finisher of the heat.
  • Round 6: Wildcard Battle: All five robots to lose in the Heat Final, and all five robots to win in the 3rd Place Wildcard battle are placed into one ten-way battle with no time limit. The last robot standing will become the sixth competitor in the Grand Final.
  • Round 7 Onwards: And after this, although not officially confirmed, the Grand Final will presumably play out in the same format as a Heat would.

Still a bit worried with how much time Roboters are give to build a Robot (Still the same about 2 months) despite the fact some are still being built and some haven't been built as of yet. Also, I do like the fact they want Feather Weights to show off in side events but if anyone can remember back the Feather Weight events in Series 7, then you know what I mean by this.

Might be reading too much into this, but could the introduction of featherweights mean there are less heavyweight battles in an episode? Perhaps in the way of ditching the round robin...?

Round robin is good, what should be replaced is the 2 winners from round robin fighting each other right after round robin, I would rather see both of them go against other group bots 1st vs 2nd and 2nd vs 1st...
the proper way like hockey, soccer and other sports are doing it.
In fact round robin could be better replacement for group battle, cuz there is often teaming against other bots, and 3 way fight in grand finale episode is just ridiculous...
Every bot having at least 3 fights, if they can fix them on time, sure would be more fun!

DATE.jpg

The big teaser we were all supposed to be getting hyped for that doesn't actually tease anything.
No Series Ten footage here, but there is one fairly obvious confirmed competitor, so that's something.
Also, date officially confirmed, cool.

It's a nice little trailer the BBC put together to build up the hype of series 10 without spoiling the series, and I'm looking forward to finally seeing series 10 of Robot Wars. But unfortunately with me being at university without a television license, looks like I'll have to find somewhere else to watch Robot Wars for the time being.

I know that, but what I was meant to say was about the use of the BBC Iplayer. But, I'll have to turn to Sirk for the episodes on Dailymotion.

BBC has such a weird way of making trailers. The ones for series 9 were quite good but this and series 8 got me not hyped at all

Yeah the new Carbide trailer is no good. It's basically just a clip show of hits set to Johnny Cash, like I said on Reddit hell I could've done that on my own and uploaded it just to mess with people. I was at least hoping for a non-spoiler trailer that shows some of the series 10 competitors, is that too much to ask? :(
The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.
