Interchangable Robot Wars Arena Drop Zone Items.
« on: July 03, 2014, 02:30:59 PM »
Ok, I have two Drop Zone Items zip's. I'll include them in this comment but I want to know how I replace the fridge to one of these. So how? Anyone?

You would need a whole new mesh and arena basically since I'm pretty sure the Fridge in the Robot Wars Arena is part of the GMF file

This is true.

Frankly I care more about the geometry, scale and real life resemblance more than what falls from the drop zone.

It would be possible to make interchangeable objects by putting them in separate gmfs and using the addXtra command in the py (this is how the practice arena works).

You would need to delete the fridge from the arena gmf first.  Then shift the mesh of the alternate drops up, since objects always get added at (0,0,0).  And finally make a randomizer in the py that selects one drop at the start of the match and puts it in the arena.

I don't have time to do it right now, just saying it's possible.

It is illegal to download and/or share proprietary software that costs money without paying.

More on topic, you can do what Click suggested but you should need some sort of "bumper." Gravity doesn't effect objects added using AddXtra until another moving object touches them. If you've ever changed Practice Arenas before than you may have noticed floating obstacles when the arena floor is lower than the original practice arena's floor. I'm thinking that this was done on purpose so that they could have stacked objects like the cinder blocks without having to deal with the wiggle that movable objects have when they are resting on the floor.

Having something that would "break apart due to impact" would be pretty cool, like the computer in the practice arena.
