Bot lab crashing in DSL
« on: April 18, 2011, 12:21:19 AM »
So I've been trying to test my new bot in the test lab, to see how much punishment it can take, but whenever I wreck my robot past the point where it can operate, it yells 'Great Match', starts to play some victory music, then the client crashes, and usually, my work doesn't save.

Anyone know a workaround for the issue, or how to resolve it?

I posted too fast, and clicked stock instead of DSL, can this please be moved there so I can get the proper assistance?

It's just a glitch, it believes you "lost" a match when you die. Just don't do it!
Better than GK since 2009.
I think SM is a pretty cool guy, eh builds unicycle-bots and doesn't afraid of anything

EDIT: I can help you recover the bot though.

*Nods*

That would be very helpful, how would I go about doing that, for the next time it happens?

Work out what bot slot your bot was located in (Bot0 is top left, Bot2 bottom left, Bot3 top right etc....) and what team. e.g. Rookies is team0.
Then look in your teams folder outside of RA2, find the appropriated team and the file inside labelled for example Bot0 if your bot was in the top left slot. Copy and paste this into "robot designs" and import back into RA2.
Better than GK since 2009.

Alright, I pasted that statement into my 'bug solutions' folder, and I'll use that next time I trash a robot by ramming it into walls as fast as it goes.

Thank-you for the solution; I apologize to everyone for using the wrong section on accident.

Ramming it into objects VERY hard to see what happened of course.

I added some coding into all my practice arenas so that whenever the bot is about to lose, it recovers all its HP. If you would like, I could post the coding for that.

Since this is the result of the EXE's coding, it could happen in any version of the game.

While I'll be fine without it, I'd assume if you posted that code wherever it normally goes, people would be appreciable ^^
It sounds useful at least for really testing the bots durability.
