Probably shouldn't be predicting characters, but how about Juan from Guacamelee?

We have officially switched over to Unity. If any of you guys have any programming knowledge there I'd love your help. I'm also still looking for some sprite artists/animators.

I'll see if i can get unity to do anything useful, if not i can have a bash at some pixel art, but im not great at it.

Three good suggestions:

Shovel Knight
The Kid from Bastion
Captain Viridian from VVVVVV

I would love to help cause I've got animation and programming experience (I've made a few small games before) and I would like to have an opportunity to work with you guys (I really mean it) but considering that I'm currently on a two year training course and I'm having little free time at the moment until Christmas and only for a few days, I'm out. However you have my full support on the project and I wish you the best of luck. I know you can do it.

I've moved to other forums. Under a different name. This is where it all began.

The only thing keeping Captain Viridian from being a character is his lack of moveset potential. The only thing he does in his game is change gravity, how do you make a moveset out of that? He will at least be an assist trophy if I figure out how to program them.

Shovel Knight was actually one of the first characters chosen for the game. The Kid I think I considered, but I'll reconsider him again.

Sucks that you can't help out; if you do get some free time I'd love to have you on board.

edit: Nevermind, thought up a moveset for Viridian in the shower. He's good to go now.

If you really wanted to be unique, you COULD do Thomas from Thomas was Alone.

that's another character I thought of but then realized there was no way I could make a moveset for.

Here's an idle animation. Confirming the first character in the game will be Quote (of course XD)

Coding progress will hopefully begin tomorrow

So why do you think you can pull this off when you couldn't even finish your tournament?

It isn't supposed to be non-Nintendo characters, just characters from indie games.
Either way I love the concept and I can only imagine so much ideas for the roster before my head explodes.

My interest in RA2 fizzled months ago. Programming, not so much.

Alright, as with the other thread, that's enough, anything further will earn hefty warn/mute.

Thanks Craaig.

2nd sprite - Captain Viridian from VVVVVV. His moveset will mainly revolve around swapping gravity and tripping his opponents.

Redid Quote's idle animation because it looked kinda odd. Also redid the shading on the sprite, though it's kinda hard to see with how small the sprite is.

The plan is for me to do one character's base sprite/idle animation a day until I'm through with all of them, with a stick figure "dummy" to test coding and animating skills. Once all the coding is done all that's left is to finish the sprites and add whatever extras I want to. Quick test shows I'm right on the scale I want to be on too, which is fantastic. Things are going well!

double pasta

Today's sprite work - One of the Castle Crashers knights. Slowly improving my shading.

Quickie, this one wasn't hard at all. He's the ninja from N/N+/N++

Fifth base sprite complete, here's The Player (that's his actual name) from  Retro City Rampage.
