Robot Wars Extreme Destruction DirectX error

I've tried to install the game on 2 different pc's. 1 is running windows 10 the 2nd is running windows 7 both are getting the same error in regards to directX  8.1. The windows  7 pc is running Direct X 11.  Does anyone know a fix for this? Or is my OS not compatible with the game?

I think you need to run the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP. As I got the same error, however this seemed to fix it.

I remember this. I resorted to installing it on a pc which still ran XP and then just transferring the files, lol.

I literally have to use an XP virtual machine to play the game. Eeeeh it'll do

Impossible343 is right, you set the setup.exe to compatibility mode "Windows XP" and then it works.
