not to sound like a pretentious hipster, but I only like the starters from the first series. Though I did pick Treecko back when I first got the game.

the first 2 gen fire starters were amazing and then they began the whole fire fighting thing and I started using water starters. I actually had a lv95 Swampert by the time I got to the Elite Four in Emerald XD still lost though

my team was like Swampert, Crobat, Dodrio and three other random pokemon. It was amazing.

Cyndaquil lights their pipes, and Psyduck uses Cloud Nine ability so that they don't complain about the weather.

Sometime we should organize a GTM Wi-fi Pokemon tournament.  I think we have enough players.

Out of curiosity, who would be interested in such a thing?

I'd be coolio with that. Also ty, we need to battle :P

YESYESYES

Click, stop stealing ideas from my head. I thought of that this morning. >.>

Well if you wanted to host it I'd be happy to hand over control... I've got Ironbot to worry about as well.

My thoughts on a tournament:

- Should use 'Standard' wi-fi rules (lv50, 3 Pokemon, etc.).  lv100 6 Pokemon using Smogon tiers would be cool, but I think that would alienate too many GTM players (possibly including me as I still need to do a lot of grinding to get to 100).

- Entrants should submit complete team details to a neutral party at the start of the tournament.  After battles are completed, this neutral party sends everyone the team data of each person's opponent via PM.  This allows people to compare team data with what they saw in their battle to ensure no one is changing their team between battles, but without making the team data public.  (Or should people just be allowed to change teams?)

- Ban certain non-legendary Pokemon such as Wobbufett, Garchomp, Speed Boost Blaziken?  OHKO moves or evasion boosting moves?

To lack feeling is to be dead, but to act on every feeling is to be a child.

We're doing gen5 right?

and if 027 can whip up a quick team then he'll likely be up for it too with his japanese pokemon black

I'm all up for that. What they usually do in Wi-fi tournaments is allow you to take 6 pokemon, but you can only use 3 per game. You can then choose the three after you have seen your opponents team on Wi-fi. I wouldn't mind hosting, too. :D
