Oh yeah, Alphasim, I tried to join your server yesterday, but it said that it couldn't resolve the hostname, even though I entered the IP fine.

You need to ask to be whitelisted on AAGH.

You are welcome.
Doubleing the FPS doesn't do anything when you're running at about 1 FPS if running at all.

Yup. Stop by the AAGH forum and get whitelisted if you want to join. Lately the traffic on the server has really picked up and there are a few large builds underway.

Holy carp.

A zombie spawner, a skeleton spawner, and two cave spider spawners all within a few blocks of each other.  AND there's another skeleton spawner and another zombie spawner off-screen (behind me) a little further away.  That's a total of SIX mob spawners all in the same area.

Needless to say, I'm building me the ultimate mob grinder/XP farm.  Only those four spawners are close enough to activate all at the same time, but that's still a huge number.

Also needless to say, this area was ridiculously dangerous to get into and light up.  I died twice, decided I needed better equipment, came back with a diamond sword with Bane of Arthropods III, and still nearly died the third time.  But the end result is going to be worth it.

Oh, and this is on a new single player map, which is why I didn't have any diamonds when I first found the place.

To lack feeling is to be dead, but to act on every feeling is to be a child.

Hey; has anyone tried the new Minecraft for Xbox 360? My friend and I played it and it was fun, if a bit primitive.

@Click: Looks like it would work, not sure about how effective it will be against the Cave Spiders though, unless you have a few cactus or lava in it.

@Alpha: It is pretty much a stripped down beta 1.6 version, so it does not look all that great, I would not know though because I don't own an XBox.

It's beta 1.6.6 (supposedly) so it lacks allot of current features, including the newer biome code (which really bugs me). I personally got a headache trying to see my UI on split screen. The couch co-op is fun, though.

It is running beta 1.6.6, and an update to 1.7 will not be long coming. It's running such a past version, because otherwise it would've taken to next year if they were recoding updates to incorporate into the version they release. However, now that it's out, it shouldn't take long for it to update to a very recent version.

For kicks, Here's a map from last month of the MaMinecraft server. It's changed a good bit lately, not the least of which is due to the new switch board/comm tower thing. I need to post an updated map sometime this month.

Update: it will be down for a few minutes while I update it

Update: ok the new map is up, recent as of a few hours ago

I need to start playing minecraft again, too. Luckily, I got some Microsoft Points today, so I'll be buying the Xbox version tonight! Sleep will not happen.

My bed has Mr. Duvet and Mr. Pillow to talk to. It's not as if I have to get up early in the morning, anyway. That bed hasn't seen me in a week, anyway.

I would never be able to use the Xbox again. My bed would be hogging it.

I have a similar game called Fortresscraft (XBLA Indie Game) so yeah I'm gonna try the 360 version of Minecraft as soon as my Xbox gets out of the repair shop (disk tray motor burned out)

Played Xbox Minecraft round my friend's house yesterday (local multiplayer, three people) and it was surprisingly fun, easy to control, and other than the incredibly small text in the inventory, the size of each screen doesn't hinder much (that I could see). Built a rubbishy house (it was more of a nuclear bunker than a house...saying that, it wasn't hollow, had a furnace and a chest in the wall, go down a small amount of stairs to get to a bed). Went down a mineshaft that my friend had made previously did a load of exploring, found a lot of coal, some iron, some gold, and a lot of redstone (as well as a lot of lava and some slimes). Ended up on one heart and hiding from skeletons. Couldn't find my way back, and eventually, I just had to punch through stone until I eventually made it to the surface. I then swam to land, built a massive tower and slept on it, I had to have my friend open the map so that I could get back to the start.  Somehow ended up on the other side of the map. But yeah, it was surprisingly fun, and even more surprising is how long I survived on one heart. Pretty sure they weren't happy that they couldn't sleep because I didn't have a bed, but much fun was had either way.
Yes that sequence of words I just said made perfect sense.

My friend Will and I had some fun with our Minecraft server.

See it here

Of course, being the server's owner I was able to just make a local backup to tear up, but it was fun nonetheless.
