The login has been buggy lately.. It also tends to crash when Notch updates the game.

I've already found lots of bugs in 1.8 ranging from cows spawning half in the floor to zombies spawning in daylight and burning instantly. Plus, blocks won't render properly for me. >)>

Apart from that, 1.8 is awesome. :D I <3 creative.

Still can't log in... tried clean installs and checked my password, nothing is working, I can still play offline, it's just sucky that I can't log in... other than that, I'm definitely enjoying 1.8 spawned in a large forest with a moderately sized coal vein nearby, not a bad start. Put a crafting table down, made stuff, picked it up, got the coal, spent a few minutes searching for my crafting table before remembering that I picked it up.

Maybe Minecraft is just spiting me because of the fact that I blew up 5696 nukes, destroying most of the world.

Looked at mc forums. Page after page of sweet butthurt at having a single block moved or not being able to make mobspawners the size of cities.
Put this onto your signature if you were part of this crappy fad in '03.

I had a mod called Pokemobs (dont know if someone said that already) its a good mod for 1.7.3 since its not updated yet. It basicly puts pokemon into Single-Player atm there are 24 I think that you can catch, train and also theres Team Rocket.

After a few clean installs, I now know what the problem is. For some reason or another, the proper login screen wasn't coming up (i.e. it was an old one), and for some reason, that utterly screwed up its ability to log in. Re-downloaded Minecraft, used that launcher, logged in first time. Apparently, the 36kb makes all the difference between being able to log in, and being unable to.

...I'm confused... use 'Seed for the World Generator' as the seed for the world generator, then look for the pit of lava (should be visible from starting point).

Hmm... it seems as though it was a random screw up. Just did the same world seed, nothing happened. Extremely random due to the fact that the third time, the base of the tree spontaneously combusted.

Meh, I'm full of the spontaneously combusting trees. But I guess it doesn't help that I live in a ravine in the middle of a desert.
Well, i broke the rules and can't fix them. Guess who can't post? :D

...I'm confused... use 'Seed for the World Generator' as the seed for the world generator, then look for the pit of lava (should be visible from starting point).

If you use two times the same seed you will get the same world (with the lava pit), you'll just spawn on a slightly different spot - you'll have to explore to find it.

Or the game really bugged out, but the first scenario seems more likely.

The lava pit spawns in the same place, it's just that sometimes the tree doesn't catch fire, sometimes it does, and when it does, it isn't always consistent with where it does (vines with first combustion, base of tree with second).

Fire spreading is odd in Minecraft. Sometimes it burns instantly, other times it takes days to set alight.
