I didn't find the original Gmod Thread so I decided to make another. Here's a random creation of mine I did in a Sledbuild server during a GTM Skype Call.

Also nice... thing.

I generally go to a random Sandbox server to build stuff, generally wood cars. And we basically destroy each other's cars in an enclosed arena.

I keep my priorities straight.

Sounds Pretty good idea. It's easy to build an Arena. All I need to learn is to make the bots move properly

Couple of Arenas I found.

Arena 1
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/91333Arena1.jpg)
+ A lot room to build robots at the backroom
+ Pit Works
+ You can drive your robot to the Arena
- Floor Flipper Doesn't work (...yet. I haven't figured out how it works)
- Too large arena

Arena 2
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/12209Arena2.jpg)
+ Room to build robots at the backroom
+ Pit & Floor Flipper are working
+ You can drive your robot to the Arena
+ Elevators to the control points
+ Spinning Blade in the middle of Arena
- Few Textures are missing

Arena 3
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/11535Arena3.jpg)
+ Great Textures
- No room to build robots
- Floor Flipper & Pit aren't working
- You can't drive the Robot to the Arena
- Bot can't be thrown out from the Arena

Arena 4
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/92590Arena4.jpg)
+ A lot room to build robots at the Backroom
+ You can drive your Robot to the Arena
+ Simple and nice

I'm planning a GTM Gmod Robot Combat tournament. Are you guys interested?  :gawe:

Aaaaand... pounds?

You could just search on Steam, but it's £5.99.

Another thing to note is that you will probably need to get The Orange Box and Counter Strike:Source for textures, otherwise, you will end up with a lot of purple and black checkered squares, or big red 'ERROR' signs.

Having an active server would be cool. We could battle anytime and host tournaments every now and then. Maybe even get more people to join our community.

Post by: Tweedy on September 29, 2013, 05:27:53 PM
Well if this goes ahead you can count me in, the rules for a tournament would have to be quite specific on weight and such though to stop people just adding a massively heavy object to make their bot immovable.

Interesting development...

I had been planning on having a server for my friends and I to dick around on. With all the servers my brother has, it wouldn't be hard to do. I would be willing to host these tournaments if I were to have a server, at least for a while.

neato!

I saw another arena which had walls and a floor that could be adjusted on the fly.

Here's a solution for the weightclass. The bot has to fit inside the platform. 3 x 3 Would be Heavyweight & 2 x 2 would be Featherweight.

Just get a paypal. You can afford the game surprisingly easy. :P

Me and my friend attempted to design a flipper-type bot, though we failed since the bot would just launch itself when the flipper was powerful enough, though when it wasn't it would do nothing. I still have a couple of wedge bots on standby, though.

Well, it wouldn't really help for the weightclass because you can make a very small cube weigh 999999999999kg, and a massive cube weigh 9kg, and any drive/thrust the bot had can be increased to compensate for the weight. Even if you were to check weights, it is possible to hide something inside it that weighs a lot as well, surrounded by several panels that would end up being checked instead of the overly heavy stuff.

I don't know any other ways to change the weight except use the Weight STool, which you have to download yourself...

Brand new Arena. You guys can find me playing in a server called "[IJWTB] I Just want to Build" every now and then.

Also I recommend to download sProps from the workshop before you go to the server.

Some sort of Flipper concept... The weapon is powered by thruster but it doesn't really have power to flip other bots around. If I make the thruster more powerful, it'll just flip over.

Well Jonzu...

This is mighty impressive however... Me and KOS have been hard at work on the idea of a Garry's Mod GTM Tourny...

Not only have we made all of the rules, we've made our own robots and trust me, these are pretty good.

They'll be showcased in the new topic here: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=17081.msg662412#msg662412 (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=17081.msg662412#msg662412)
