Does anybody remember the old online game "Robot Rage"? Bad, wasn't it?
Post criticism for it here.
-
Eeeh.. it was alright.
Abusable though. As long as you lost enough to keep your score down, you could stay forever in the - category, racking up wins and points with your all-decked-out battle machine.
Couple of glitches... and oh-so-much trouble finding a fight that worked.
-
It was FAIL!

It was FAIL!
QFT
it was sooo easy to cheat.
all you had to do was get cheat engine and you could get millions and get the best robot and be undefeatable.
also like redline said it was impossible to get any fight as it would always come up as a firewall or the challenger wouldnt reply.
-
"...like redline said it was impossible to get any fight as it would always come up as a firewall or the challenger wouldnt reply"
Too true. Challengers not replying, even without firewalls, always made me wonder. How could they refuse, even if you used a SFTW-like robot, to challenge you on an online game that is now pretty much dead and buried?
I mean, trying to find active opponents on there who wish to fight nowadays is like trying to find a matching pair of snowflakes...in the Bahamas!

Perhaps the match request isn't getting through to them, thus the timer goes down and they don't know they've been challenged at all.
If they do, they won't know what they're up against unless they quickly find you in the lobby.
I think it IS dead now. Can't find it anymore.

I do recall seeing it in the Miniclip archives, but I could only access it through Google. Either way, when I last visited about 2 months ago, there were only Five people online including me!
To be honest, the community there is dead now, and it's not much suprise at all. To be honest, AceUplink could've made a better game!
-
It was an okay game.
-
I say it was a complete failure as a game. You couldnt win much at all if you didnt either cheat or buy donator stuff.

I think I got a 18-0 record with one of my bots (probably the 3rd return) before getting bored.
-
Closest thing to robot wars online before I found out about RA2.AND IT SUKKED!
-
I still go on it from time to time.
-
yeah it was'nt the best but fun when you're bored, infact, I'm gonna go play it now *walks away, thaen realizes he needs the computer, then comes back and plays it*
-
its fail theres a glitch on a special website where you use paint to get money
-
Hah, that's awesome Stag... need to look into that.
-
I used that once, that's how (when the game was dying/removed from miniclip) EVERY robot on there had like supreme weapons.
-
Bump!
Does someone want to battle against me? :P
-
 I have'nt played in a while, I think I lost my bot, maybe tomorow
-
Sparkey, Are you coming? I'm waiting you...
-
Tick Tock,I could beat nearly ANYONE on there.
-
In your dreams... Wanna battle?
-
Tick Tock,I could beat nearly ANYONE on there.
Do you have a spear gun? I bet not
I do
-
I have Daggers.
-
Like that would help.Just fight me on there and you will see why.
-
Okay, I'm in the UK East Lobby.

Listen, go to www.robot (http://www.robot) rage.110mb.com, it is a chat room for robot rage, I'm friends with the admin, jork, who has been playing since the game first came out. He has every single part bought becuase he is good, he knows cheats to make sure he can keep his bots, and cheats to get the parts, he is the ACAMS of RR and I gurantie you'll get your ass kicked down a hill.
-
Link = :fail:
-
it did that on its own

ACAMS doesn't use a cheap website builder.
-
he is good like him

It's a pretty big difference if you think of it..
RA2 is a whole different level to Robot Rage.
Robot Rage gives you limited space and funds to build something with predetermined components.
RA2 gives you freedom of how you want everything to look - while everything boils down to the same components, you're not restricted to using something as the game says you should - Caster armor, or Bracket Wedge defence, for example. Even DAF from NW3's wheel spinner. You can do what you want.
Robot Rage gives you a simple goal - attack an opponent, be hit back, win.
RA2 is about robot combat too, yes, but it's far more complex, just from there being actual physics - the other things being TKOs and actual OOTAs (I count the elevator pit and rooftop edge as pits) You have to attack strategically, hitting weak spots, and avoiding the same happening to you.
This guy you mentioned -can- be the ACAMS of Robot Rage.. but in reality, that guy could be any shmuck who knows a few sentences of tricks.
-
ALL I meant was is he is as good at RR as ACAMS is at RA2
-
This guy cheats, you said it yourself. ACAMS knows how to cheat, but doesn't for serious bots.
-
Glitches and AI parts are cheats
-
It's become culture, don't think it counts.
-
it has in robot rage. In the RRaverse, it's not how good your bot is, it's your driving skills
-
So... I could consistently win against a +++++ bot with a beginner's bot, 4 wheels and Hydrogen batt traded for 3 wheels and the Alkaline battery?
With a dagger?
Or no weapon at all?
-
Glitches and AI parts are cheats
AI parts are not cheats, cheatbot2 parts are. In the same way glitches in the bot lab are not cheating, ZeroG, AAM and most forms of BFE are.
-
*headdesk*
that includes weapons
[/endfightorIsweartogod]
-
that includes weapons
Please say something that makes sense.
-
I was talking to red
-
Ah.
-
Well.. sure didn't mention that before.
