Is the armour on the second one a tite sheet?

Oh, and don't use piglets for drive. Naryar will eat you.

on the first one, piglets fail for drive. On the second one, is that a custom part or a reskin? It would be nice to post inside shots, weight and armor with your bots.

*Waits for a veteran to help more*

Yes, the armour's a reskinned titanium sheet. Was originally going to use it for a WBC Replica, and never change back the skin. And I can't be bothered with painting them at the moment. THankfully, I didn't use piglets for drive in the second one, so Naryar, don't eat me. I probably don't taste nice anyway. Cod liver oil and the crushed hopes of my enemies is my flavour  ;) . Will do insides tomorrow.

Might be good against gut-rippers because of wedginess but it is too tall to fair well against a horizontal weapon (HS, poker, rammer, etc).

I'll try to decrease the height, but that may mean less batteries, and it's only got 3 atm.

A popup needs to be flat to be good. Also you need 1 ant for each drive motor and 2 for each BSG.

How many BSGs does The Jester ? 1 or 2 ?
Title: Re: Zog's belated DSL Showcase
Post by: Zog on February 17, 2010, 02:28:11 AM
BSG?
Title: Re: Zog's belated DSL Showcase
Post by: Naryar on February 17, 2010, 02:29:38 AM
BSG-200 Burst motors.

Or Mag Snappers... or did you really managed to get a small JX on there ?
Title: Re: Zog's belated DSL Showcase
Post by: Zog on February 17, 2010, 02:30:38 AM
Just one BSG. I'll try to completely remake it.

What trollin bastard has given you all of this mis-information???

There PIGLETS and they have low torque. It makes for slow drive.

Nobody gave him bad information. It's just that he didn't understand the nasty pickle that happens often on small chassis with ant wheels.

What the heck is the Nasty Pickle anyway?
I see it on all the tourney rules, But i have no idea of what it is :\

make a really small bot, and put REALLY big wheels on it. Then see what happens.

*Too lazy to try out*

I guess the chassis would spin instead of the wheels? Or itll just be uncontrollable?
Well, The Ant Wheels are rather small, You you said it happens with REALLY big wheels ;O

the wheels havok

look at some CC2 qualifying videos, Aggro Cube was notorious for performing it. Monster Cube also did an epic version of it triggered by Super SnS

This is VRam, something I made when I was bored. I just wanted to see what would happen when I put a HS with a Rammer. VRam was the result.

Fantastic Flying Fish. I thought that one FS wasn't enough, so I made 2 plus a couple of spinny razor things, just for Naryar.

Popper. Another fail attempt at a popup.

VRam:
Unrealistic
Way overpowered, needs 4 ant batts, although about 5 or 6 would be better

FFF:
Use multi extenders
2 mag motor (twm3r) face spinners would probably be better than 4 piglet ones

Popper,
Use ant batts,
NPC Fasts with hypnos would be better drive
Get a more boxy chasis shape, so that you don't waste weight,
Use a titanium sheet for front protection.
Skirt hinge wedges
You could then have 2 bsgs for the weapon motors
NEVER use mag snappers, bsgs are better & lighter

Massive overpowerage on that first bot.

And keep it to 1 weapon if you want it to be good

VRam is one of those 'What if' bots. It isn't one of my proper bots. I hate it as well.

So Naryar, what do you think about the other bots?
Title: Re: Zog's belated DSL Showcase
Post by: Naryar on August 26, 2010, 09:57:26 AM
The second... well the razor chicken drills aren't probably of much use so I would remove them, and the third not only doesn't needs that much weight on it's wedge, but has too much weight on that mag snapper.
Title: Re: Zog's belated DSL Showcase
Post by: Zog on August 26, 2010, 10:20:55 AM
There's nowhere else for me to put the batteries on the third, that's the trouble...
Title: Re: Zog's belated DSL Showcase
Post by: MassimoV on August 26, 2010, 07:00:46 PM
Here's some constructive criticism:

I think the first one is a little over powered. It's been mentioned but it's unrealistic. i would shrink the chassis down ,and use small wheels such as hypnos for wheels (just because of realism)

I'm with Naryar on the second bot. The chicken drills won't do as much damage compared to the discs. How many ants are in there? Just like Vertigo said, use multi extenders.

I don't know on the third one. :embarr

Good job and try to get some more bots up.

VRam was one of those 'What If' bots. In all fairness, I'm not particularly proud of it either. So I'm not going to enter it into competition.

Here is Brobdignanagian Whacker.

I asked Scrap (on XBL) what is the best way to make a VS. He stated bluntly: 'Clone Mako'.

Obviously I didn't really want to completely clone Mako, but the basic idea is there.

Oh, and here is the insides.

Definitely isn't a Mako clone.

But it is unrealistic.

Also, try to widen the drive or move it further forward. Having the drive that close together makes the bot turn quite a bit slower in my experience.

way to call me out bro. :P

Hmmm, definatly gett stronger stabilizers since these aren't going to last long. And would I be wrong to say this is underweight?
Title: Re: Zog's belated DSL Showcase

Just use 6-7 ants batteries and you have things to learn concerning efficient DSL extender work :P

So I need something different than PA skirts... What would be better then?

And would I be wrong to say this is underweight?

Yes. It is around 798kg.

Ok, I'll use them.

And how can I change the extenders then?

Definitely isn't a Mako clone.

But it is unrealistic.

How is it unrealistic? And the only thing that I cloned from Mako is the basic weapon setup.

Baseplate Anchors = Fail. Use Multi Extenders, they are lighter, and...that's more or less it. Attach the extenders side point to side point on them as well.

The way you have the weapons now, the bars are cutting through the motors, so you want to put them on the other side of the Perm.

I wouldn't use Shinies in DSL, especially not on a HW like this one. Lose the ramplates and extender work at the back, and stick some Technos on there.

Panic Attack stabilisers only really work on LW bots, maybe MW at a stretch. HW VS's like this tend to have DSL Bars as stabilisers.

Does it not mention that in the component description?

Never used it because I caught a glimpse of 'It has less hitpoints than the aluminium extenders, however.', so I never used them :P

But you're mounting it on the baseplate, therefore it becomes invincible. =D Hence why nobody likes the cheaty Narmour.

Jester MK2, a heavyweight juggler. My second attempt at a decent juggler. I've tried to create an entirely different style of wedge on it.

And Brobdignagian Whipper, my possible entry to FOTEPX's challenge tourney. Any thoughts?

Needs Dual-layer weaponry, like a razor attached to a Beater Bar. Makes the weapons last longer, and partially stops Mauler Dancing.
