Well, since I'm getting back on RA2, I might as well start with DSL, since stock is boring (no offense to whoever uses it)
I've made a couple robots so far, but none of them too spectacular. So without further ado, my first creation...
THUNDERSTORM!

I intended for my first bot to be more realistic in style, so it doesn't have much in the way of heavy weaponry. It's a heavyweight with a basic rhomboid prism shape, and has a nifty front flipper with pushing power to boot.
The insides...

I'll post a demonstration of it fighting a replica later, since I'm having a little trouble uploading the screencap. Internet lag, methinks.

Well even if its just a flipper, you want to build to the weight limit (which is 800kgs, ur at 582). Also, most DSL builders go by the "realistic" rule (basically avoid ever having components go through things they couldn't in real life, such as batteries or that burst motor in your robot).
I would widen and flatten the chassis, add armor using your extra weight, use better drive motors (NPC fasts work well, or ETEKS if you really want speed).
The better wedges are axle mount wedges. Hinge wedges (like yours) are fairly ineffective.
And stock is boring? NO.
-
standard stock AI is boring because it's too easy, but there are many stock AI packs out there that will provide a bigger challenge to you, starcore AI packs is a good place to start :)

I'll give some advice...
- Shrink chassis
- Get stronger drive motors (NPCs)
- Better wheels (Hypnos, Technos)
- Use metal hinge wedges
- 2-wheel drive is OK
- What armor?
- Try to use a better flipper with more HP
BTW, Welcome! :D

I would say Metal Hinges are best.
-
Yeah Sagey the door hinge ones are the best wedges usually

Whoa, it's been a couple months since I posted here. Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. Anyhow...
STOP RELAXING.
TAKE A... THRILL PILL!

Classic twackbot at first glance, and one of my most fun builds so far. I've got some skirts at the front for pushing purposes, and the whole thing... well... take a look at the innards and see.

The reason for the bike wheels is to keep the wideness to a minimum, since the servo takes quite a bit of space. The servo is, of course, the most fun part of the robot-- it turns a basic whacker into a complete maniac of a machine. Take a look for yourself...
While I mostly mess around with this robot for fun, it DOES have some competitive value. The huge arm keeps spinners at bay, pushing them around until they flip over. If the design's just right, I can even flip them out with my front wedge-- the arm in the back finishes it off with a push (it's why I have the 259 disk attached).

Hello there. :D
First off, drive/spinning motors only need one ant battery each to be powered. And servo's need no batteries at all. So that could be run off of 2 ant batteries. 3 just to ensure you could go a whole 3 minutes.
You could also reduce weight by mounting the drive motors externally. On multi extenders, or if they're too much of a pain, baseplate anchors. I think the drive eteks have enough hp to survive outside the bot.
-
Actually, servos take power if it is available.
-
Make it realistic and get rid of the t-connector.
And use 3 ants.
And listen to other people.

Ah yes, so they do.
-
Er...
What does it actually do?
