My other DSL showcase has been dead for a while, so #2 is here
Here is Hades, a somewhat decent hammer.

-
you are welcome to bump you own showcase as much as you like if your posting another robot, save making so many copies
-
Why make a new showcase? Doesn't matter if it's 'been dead' for a while. Just bump it instead of making a new one. Oh well.
-
those Gothic axe heads are custom components, so this bot should really be in a custom showcase
No they're not.
About the bot it's not bad. However, i think these spike clubs and rear DSL bars are worthless.
You could use 2 plows and make a trapping V-design like i did on Rabid Grisly Bear.
-
No they're not.
oops sorry, I never actually noticed they were in DSL, I had only ever seen them in the D2 Pack prior to make that comment :-D
-
In DSL, Grim Chopper has a gothic axe...
I think that there was another bot with gothic axe but I'm not sure...

Like this?

Perfect. Now you must remove the side armor and play with the remaining weight.
It would look cooler if you made the chassis to fit the ramplates's V, however.
-
Well here is a new SHW VS

-
that is one wow!
ima not that w/ shw in dsl... so someone else take over w/ the constructive criticism.
-
It looks nice, it's well armored, but it seems a little underweaponed for a SHW. Unless you're really using that JX motor for a lifter, I think you should ditch it and get some heavier weapons. Dual perms or bigger hammers would work.

it was Terraturtle From the Sewers from BBEANS2.

The JX acts as a Srimech, ocasionally, the blades will get stuck in the ground, & i use the JX to get out.

OMG im triple posting LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Anyway, this is probably my best poker/rammer i've ever built

-
Mutant Dragonfly ?
-
Looks pretty darn close. I would DEFINETLY try to get a wedge in there somehow.
EDIT: Also, some bottom protection wouldn't hurt as well...
-
Oh and i didnt even noticed the name that is ripped off ANOTHER poker...
Complete overkill on batteries as well - did you read Click's thread on power and batteries ?
And either get a wedge either use Ti halfsheets for bottom protection.

EDIT: takat, i know there is EMPTY SPACE, what can i do to get rid of it?
-
EMPTY SPACE
-
You're probably better off with stronger wedge and weaker plows. Invest the kg into a double wedge system. There's no point of having a popup if you can't wedge someone.
-
What he said, and use multi-extenders instead of anchors. Better yet, place the JXes inside the chassis. Which means, you have to rebuild the chassis again (always have a small chassis unless it needs a big chassis for stability).
-
...WTF are you doing ? That's the weirdest popup i have seen in a long time.
-
...WTF are you doing ? That's the weirdest popup i have seen in a long time.
I know, i was expecting people to say "WTF?" about it, i build much better popups in stock anyway, so no DSL popups from me for a while
Anyway, i've built a possible entry for CC3, this is Mad Cow
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/65081cow.jpg)
Power: 2 Battlepacks and 1 ant batt
Weapon motor: Perm 132
EDIT: Insides

insides ? :-D
looks good that mako 4 weapon style has been rather popular lately
-
Mount the drive onto the baseplate instead. You have the space and that gives you extra weight.

Some updates to Spearhead

No comments... you guys phail
Anyway's i've made a possible entry for RIP

2 Battlepacks and 3 ant batts
NPC Fast's

Is that a popup, because it looks more like a hammer.
And what kind of armour does it have.
-

Titanium 1.
It's sort of a short hammer.
-
Hammers need a trap and not a big wedge. A rectangular chassis is often the best chassis in DSL, so it's gonna need some rebuilding. Also, your skirt wedges are not centered. Remove them and use 1 or 2 metal hinge wedges instead. Cut the empty space from the drive, use a blue control board and upgrade the armor using the extra weight.
-
A rectangular chassis is the best chassis in DSL
Not neccesarily true !
And hammers with wedges like this fail.
-
Foine. Fixed it. XD
Anyway, hammers usually use a trapper so bots can't break the arms when they go up the wedge (see what happened to Epic Flailure).

Black Hawk IV

-
Functionally speaking, 1 long DSL bar will be more durable than multiple parts.
You might also want to consider using angled skirts on the 2 sides to cover your chassis a bit.
-
Use hypno wheels instead of those for more grip.
-
I must say this design its really nice visually :-D
-
Looks very familiar...Interwinerism?
-
I must say this design its really nice visually :-D
Yeah, it would be awesome IRL.
-
the base shape looks like one of the whyachi base.
it might just be me because i didnt watch battlebots much.
-
o-v-e-r-p-o-w-e-r-e-d
Since it has 5 motors, a minimum would be 5 ant batteries, but i would recommend at least 8.
-
the base shape looks like one of the whyachi base
close, though Son Of Whyachi has a square chassis with the shuffle systems on each side, giving it a similar shape
-
Built a popup today
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/54719desp3.png)
I think there are 18 razors, also has burst wedges, which makes this thing unstoppable. Armor is 3mm Titanium.
-
Balance the bot's insides.
-
Balance the bot's insides.
???????????????????????????
-
Make the chassis smaller.
-
Make the insides symmetrical.
-
That's too much razors for a Mag Snapper to handle.
-
it could use a lot lighter extender work for a mag snapper
-
Rebuilt Desperation HW to a much more destructive form.
5mm Titanium armor
12 razors
Small amount of empty space which i'm trying to fix, and it need to make it able to self right, or run inverted.
Yes! It is similiar to Fast'N'Furious, this was the only chassis shape(besides the first Desp HW) that would work.
-
I personally don't like skinny bots since they're quite easy to flank, but E-wedges = bad. Also, I think its narrowness also contributes to its self-righting problem. Make it wider and stuff your batts between the motors so you'll have a wider and shorter bot that can self-right easier. :D
-
Probably built my best DSL bot to date.
1mm Titanium armor
NPC Fasts
12 razors
This thing destroys and out wedges everything in DSL. I just need to test in NAR AI.
-
1mm Titanium is a very dangerous bet.
-
Agree, do you need the halfsheet on top, if not take it off and upgrade the armor.
-
Agree, do you need the halfsheet on top, if not take it off and upgrade the armor.
The sheet on top is to protect against hammers, and any bot that finds it's way onto it's top.
-
The only bots that would be dangerous on the top are crawlers and flipped drums... Not that big of a deal. Hammers are somewhat rare too, you're better off with the stronger armor because more bots are a threat from every other side than just the top.
-
Plus that front armor is on a skirt hinge, which means it will flex on impact, exposing your chassis.
You can probably remove the top plate and/or some batteries (by my calculation, the bot needs only 103 amps) and upgrade the armor.
-
Pretty good looking bot.
but,

Updated
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/6062trojanhorse3.png)
Yes, the axles are exposed, but that was the only place i could put them to make them effective.
-
Axles placed like that serve no purpose since you already have a pair of primary wedges.
Also ramplates aren't as tough as the ingame description says...
-
^^^ Hehehe. Found that out the hard way. XD
Remove the axle wedges and the ramplate and see if you can add a tite sheet and some other stuff with the extra weight. :D
-
Fixed
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/17709trojan.png)
I was able to add a few more ants. Sadly, i can't upgrade to 3mm titanium without underpowering it.
-
Hmm, can we see the insides? Wanna see what a DSL popup should really look like.
Unless it doesn't perform so well.
-
Insides are on the previous page, which is the same thing as this one.
It performs very well, i still just have to test in NAR AI, but it destroys everything in DSL.
-
Oops, OK. Thanks.
EDIT: Whoo, 1000 posts. SHW.

Possible BBEANS6 entry

Some tips:
Weird chassis, too big.
Too heavy wedge.
You need more weapons.
You only need like 3 ants for that.
-
I don't think you need a motor that strong.
-
I don't think you need a motor that strong.
yeah, a TWM3R is perfect for this.
-
Not a lot of weapon hitpoints as well...
-
AND STOP USING MY BOTS' NAMES >:E
lol j/k :P
Anyway, as Reier said, it's chassis is too big (and because of that, my Apache would pwn yours :P). A box or T chassis would save much more weight and make it more compact and less exposed. Use two skirt hinges for the wedge. One at the bottom, for going under, and another one at the top for feeding low bots into the weapon. Try to make the chassis as short as possible (either you can't move a side NPC up a pixel or can't even attach a side NPC at all) because LW's need to be very conservative when it comes to weight. :D

Random SHW

5mm titanium
4 ants
-
Cool! ;) Or you should add more ants...
-
A motor only requires one battery, and there are only 4 motors.
-
That is true only when it comes to spin motors. Burst and drive motors still have to be fully powered. Just check the component txts to find out how much power you need.
...Built a tribute bot, I see?
This bot actually needs about 6 ants, and it is possible to attach the weapon extenders to multi extenders. I think a wider wheels stance would help here, too.
-
The multi-extender idea really messes up with your mind. I tried it once and I thought it was too brittle, until I realized it was attached to the baseplate. XD
Anyway, from what I can see here, it looks neat. But more ants means more time to kick ass. XD
-
How stable is it?
-
This bot is correctly powered, but it would need 6 ants minimum for decent battery longevity.
-
Random battleshot of Desp getting destroyed by my new popup, i was playing as Desp, the other was AIed
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/44073blitz2.png)
-
Fast'N'Furious and Hope no More 4 ?
-
No. Basically it's HNM 3.2, but mine has a slightly bigger chassis, i have small wedges instead of skirts, and there are 2 Mag snappers and 1 small JX Burst.
More random shots

E=mc2 fails anyway.

Time to show Blitzkrieg
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/77635blitzshow.png)
5mm Titanium
12 razors(2 for when bot is going up the wedge, the rest to finish the job)
-
Try to widen the wedges.
-
hmm those front extenders seem a little exposed also
are the Mag snappers holding the sheets on the front ?
-
Try to widen the wedges.
Seperated wedges = easier for bots to get under = more losses = bad bot
-
Not necessarily. Anything sucks if you don't put extra time to tweak it. But I'm confused on how you attached your weapons. Take off one of the tite sheets so we can see it better. :D
-
Seperated wedges = easier for bots to get under = more losses = bad bot
Close wedges = Pretty much single wedge = less area covered = easier for bots to get under = more losses = bad bot :D
if your wedges are good robots wont get under them regardless, the only time wide wedges are bad is if they are really short for then a single long wedge can get under it.

=O klone =P

My team for NAR AI
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/46180militia.png)
-
From what I can see here you can still lower the chassis of the LW and the BW. :D
-
I haven't built ANYTHING in months...
10 razors, 4 ants and BSG's. 2 NPCF's, 2 TWM3R's 2 battlepacks, and 2 orange batts.
Armor is 5mm Titanium
It's good on a lot of things, but lacks bottom armor and power(hits usually go no more that 1000 points)
-
Upgrade the very front polycarb extenders, to flipper parts, you have weight
-
Epic bump.
I think I should take another crack at building. I built this in 123AI.
Currently unfinished & unnamed popup. 7 ants, 8 razors, 4 half sheets underneath. Some clone of inspiration from Beautiful Oblivion. Still don't know what to do with remaining 195 kg.
BTW, I read somewhere here(forgot where) and it said something called hinge armor, and I don't know what that is. Can someone give me an explanation of it?
-
Hey, your back. Underweight and you might want some front armor prtection. Good job though.
-
Needs more ants, is it a true pop-up?
I think what you mean by hinge armour is Narmour which uses the collision mesh of teh skirt hinge for armour...
I think i'll let others expand on this
Looks good for an unfinished bot :gawe:
Oh and what armour?
-

Thanks for explanation. Armor is Titanium 3.
-
Look at the collision mesh of a skirt hinge (using F12), it is much larger than it should be.
As skirt hinge components are attatched to the baseplate, they are incincible, thus giving you invincible armour
Its just like using castor armour in stock
Some members (including me), see this as cheap and cheaty however, JoeBloeven remade the collision mesh preventing it
-
I would put some front armor on the front and amp the armor a bit.
Also, welcome back :D
-
7 ants is definitely underpowered for this machine, I reckon you'd need about twice that for the bursts you have at the moment. Front could definitely use protection as well, but I'm not really sure it'll self-right effectively enough with the wedge being that long.
-
If the JXs are small, he needs 12 ants
If they are large, he needs 16 ants
-
4 BGS's are kind of enough for HW Popups, I reckon. As long as the wedges are good enough (Mine aren't) then you should be okay with them.
-
I might try using 4-6 BSG's and lower the chassis a bit and add frontal armour.
-
4 is fine. 6 is pushing it.
