That's a neat looking bot. Instead of using the stock angles components, look into using square extenders and the new DSL2.2 angle components. They look better and give you a lot more flexibility
I'll keep that in mind.

Here's the next bot. Debra:

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]
Bio:
"One of the scariest flippers in Bot Wars, Debra is a strong, female bot with a strong, female team. She consistently KOs robots by launching them all the way across the arena and into oblivion. And with a zero ground clearance, only the deadliest of spinners can stand up to her and her thick steel armor. She has a rivalry with house robot Madame Mayhem."

Ironically, Debra in-game is armored in 5mm Titanium, but in the story, she's got steel armor. Based off my lego bot Debranator, they're basically the same thing. Only difference is that this RA2 version is untested in combat. It's just a model used for reference for when I draw comic panel strips of her.

Also, ignore the casters on the back of her launcher. That's just for stability. Not meant to be an IRL part.
Great 4 bar Flipper. And have you ever think of making a robot for competing in tournaments, because Orc's Wars Extreme will enter sign up tomorrow
I've made my fair share of competitor robots that have had decent success in past tournaments. Maybe some day I'll make a competitive IRL bot.

But for now, it's just these guys.

Thanks! I honestly didn't put much effort into her, so it's rather surprising for me to be getting praised for her.

Anyway, here's our first house robot. I'll be showing 1 Bot Wars house robot for every 4 competitors I showcase. And there's 5 planned house robots.

Here's the first one, Cavern Crusher, along with his bio:

CavernCrusher2.png

screenshot_1.bmp

"First up for the house robots, we have Cavern Crusher. He's an experimental piece of mining equipment gone mad! Weighing in at over 3 times as much as a competitor robot at 358 kilos, or 789 pounds, he's got a plethora of weapons, including dual pickaxes and a massive rear vertical saw. His main weapon however, is the massive bludgeoning drill at the front, weighing in at a hefty 62 kilos, or 137 pounds! His only real weakness is his tendency to topple over. Just don't tell him I said that!"

In the game, he weighs 2862.8 kg, his bludgeoner weighing 496 kgs.

What do you think of Bot Wars' first house robot? I'm thinking of putting him on the BotExchange.

For a house robot I'd suggest more chunky hammers maybe using 30kg sledges with 2 lightning spikes either side to form an 8 point star and then add counterweights at the bottom, maybe those could be sledges themselves to fit the look and with a thicker arm width.

Hmm...30 kg hammers aren't sleek enough. How about double-ended Judge Gavels? The pick-axe arms are pretty skinny compared to the rest of the robot, but using sledge-hammers are too bulky IMO.

Also, the more weight the hammers have, the more top-heavy the robot gets. Even now it's a bit of a problem, especially with the gyroscopic tendencies of the sawblade and bludgeoner.

Also, what do you mean by an 8 point star?

Here's BARbarian. I don't have a bio for this bot yet, I'll add it later.

BARbarian.png

EDIT: Maybe I should keep it that way. Make this bot a bit mysterious...

...ok, there's just nothing special about this bot. Other than the fact it's a wannabe-Nightmare.

Aaand, back to the story bots again!
Here's Caustic Caution, a bot I made based off of a lego design. You'd recognize him if you saw my lego bots thread.

caustic1.png

caustic2.png

Bio:
"Here's consistent competitor Caustic Caution, with his namesake custom-made lead acid battery that nearly sent one of his team-mates to the hospital! That's right, even the INTERNALS are dangerous!

Oh, and he's got a flipper, I guess."

What? No Luv?

How about a robot that looks like a literal pile of sh**?
(Ok, I TRIED to make it look that way)

Introducing BULLSH#T!!!

BULLSH#T!!!.png

It's only a display bot, so it's not competitive in-game. In the story though, it's a "normal" competitor, ignoring the fact it looks like feces. It's underweight in-game, I'll try fixing that some other time. For now, just have this.

Bio:
"This...unusual looking shell spinner is made by an enigmatic bot builder known for screaming out the words "BULLSH#T!!!" whenever he disagrees with something, whether it's during a regular conversation, something unfortunate happens, or he loses a fight. It's rumored this guy has tourettes or something."

(I can make that joke since I myself have a legitimate case tourettes syndrome.)

A like? That'll do.

Here's another bot for the series, a callback to one of my most successful creations, Metallicus!

Metallicus.PNG

Bio:
"It's the top dog of the tournament. The DEADLIEST robot we've ever seen. It's METALLICUS! Designed, built, and driven by millionaire playboy Toby Keith, he's the son of the CEO of the robotics company that funded this sport! He already won last tournament, now lets see if he can dominate again!"

Here's another one, Black Dagger:

Black Dagger 1.PNG

Black Dagger 2.PNG

Bio:

“Rumor has it that this robot is cursed! If you wanna know why, here’s a list of all the incidents related to it:

1: He stabbed his owner in the face during construction, destroying half his frontal lobe and causing permanent brain damage. It was so bad the owner’s brother had to take over the team.

2: His first 2 opponents broke down in his debut tournament, and he went berserk halfway through his first fight! We had to send in another competitor robot into the arena to stop him.

3: He fell on a pit crew member’s foot, crushing it completely.

4: It’s weapon fired off during maintenance and stabbed someone in the abdomen, even though the robot was turned off! (This nearly got us shut down)

This bot already passed safety inspection before, and it has again. Some people are skeptical, but others are worried about what misfortune this bot will bring THIS tournament.”

The whole idea of the robot is that it's bland, generic, unassuming, and kinda lame, that way it comes off as sort of a surprise when it causes a fatal accident.

You wouldn't expect a robot that boring looking to be so dangerous, would you?

I don't get how you can spend the time writing an essay on the lore of your bot but you don't spend 10 seconds cropping the screenshots

The bot itself is mixed. I really like the front half, the back half is just way too plain, bland and boring
also lol at most toxic guy around calling others out on this sh**

It's not dangerous because it has a single spike, not because it's bland

yes, the actual threat of a bot is linked to bot design, not aesthetics

Ah, that. I see. Yeah, having a measly spike doesn't look to dangerous either, but I do recall a story from Robot Wars about a competitor robot who was armed merely with a pneumatic spike, and it caused some health and safety issues with that weapon alone.

I should've also mentioned that not only does the bot not LOOK dangerous, but the design itself isn't that potent in general either, which makes the incidents that surround it all the more strange.

Ok, so I'm thinking of getting back into DSL.

However, it seems there's been a lot of mods and changes made since my last time playing.

I haven't touched this game since my last post on here on March, 2019, and stuff has happened since.

What mods do I need to install for IRL building to resume?
