I don't know what to improve on SnSnOS.

For Rusty, you have two options:

If you're going for an IRL/Cool approach, I'd get rid of the sledges & titanium sheet and add something like a wedge or plow. Also weapon slots.

If you're going for DSL-S/Effective approach, you've greatly downgraded it. Do what you did with the last version of rusty, but mount the plow on a skirt hinge and get more razors on the weapon.
Oh I'll be doing some banging.......

I'm glad you like it! Make sure to give me some credit for the mechanism design.
Here's another one:

Also, it's called "Metallicus". And I'm glad you like that one to.

Nice walkers, m8. Is there any possibility to show a video of them? I'm interested in their walking capabilities.

Sorry dude, but i have no video capturing software, or YouTube account. :(
HOWEVER, I will gladly send it to bot exchange so you could see for yourself, if you want.

Ask Mr. AwesumSauce or Helloface199 for Fraps, or just use the free trial version of Bandicam, although there will be a watermark.

I'd greatly appreciate that, m8  ;)
I've made some walkers myself so I'm interested in new walking mechanisms.

So, I'm assuming Rusty is DSL-S. Currently, try sticking to razors. And if you can, you might wanna go with a curved hammer instead.

Got him downloaded! :gawe:
I also downloaded my Snake replica into bot exchange.
Make sure you have the latest version of NAR AI, since that's where the replica was built.

Cheers! I just played with them and I like the concept. You do get some traction but it's kind of hard to have a walk pattern.
I did find a simple way to improve your green monster's walking by replacing you feet with wheels, which give some grip. It gets a little glitchy but doesn't havok. Alternating A and D will give you a good walk. Avoid having the chassis sliding on the floor because it appears to mess with the walking motion.

I always failed making walkers with pistons so cheers for your success, m8  ;)

pretty good for a newbie, you have a bit of uncleanliness in your bots that need to be fixed.

Really, if you build in DSL the best (read: non-crappy) weapons are razors, beater bars, typhoon spikes, large and small DS teeth, hypno teeth, and sledgehammers and sawblades occasionally.

Icepicks are fine for hammers but yeah.

spike strips can be used on wedges and rammers but are quite poor like you used them on your hammer. If you REALLY want to use them on a hammer use them so they are parallel to the hammer extender.

Thanks for the advice!
I'll get to it soon! :gawe:

For 1.7, you don't need tite extenders for the weapon.
Also for the wedge you should only put one sheet in the middle or one on each side.

For 1.8, the extender work is terrible.
Razors do damage from all sides.
You should probably use two 40cm alu extenders, put two sideways 20cm extenders, then put two razors on that so it would look like this:

Use the same wedge I suggested for 1.7.

Also, for the future, never use multi-extenders outside of the chassis.
Oh I'll be doing some banging.......

So far, rusty 1.8 is okay. You have the curved hammer concept down. Might want to lighten up the extenders (use either alu or tite or maybe the glas one) instead in favor of more weapons. Don't make it curve inwards so much also, it's goal is to hit a HS without really going to close, so range is important. I think Sage has a couple of good curved hammers you can look at.

And yeah, don't use multi extenders outside the chassis.

Thanks guys!
I'll try and make an actual competitive robot that utilises that walking system.
Here's an update on Rusty:

And the insides:

Also, what do you guys think about Sit'n'Spin'n'...Other Stuff?
Is he all good?
I like this, Rusty 1.9 is not better, the gun would be fine with an angle of 45 degrees
