Here's a standard flipper. Been stuck in a bit of a rut building-wise lately so I figured I'd go back to basics and just do some panelwork . Design is nothing special at all but I'm happy with how clean it came out. 2 Vsmall VDMAs for the flipper so it's hardly gonna be roofing sh** but the panels are fairly light so it should still be able to toss other HWs decently.

Did some work to make it less boring. Put a rear wing on it because why not, and then F1 suggested giving it a racier colour scheme to go with it so I did that too and it does look better. Also ditched the wedgelets in favour of hinged panels with wedge edges which I think look a lot better

EDIT: Made a few other changes to clean it up and make it look nicer, rechristened it and knocked up a splash with a logo shamelessly stolen from a defunct F1 team

See the spur on that hornet's spinner makes me imagine a version where there's a saw blade replacing the flipper.

Been a bit of a theme to this showcase lately of "rebuilding old bots to be better". Here's another one of those that you're probably sick to death of seeing by now: It's Speed Demon.

This is a total, square 1 rebuild of SD because I figured I could do a lot of things better. A big change is that I ditched the panel+extender wheelguards. I did this for 2 reasons. The first is that I figured that I could actually probably save some weight by just going pure chassis, which proved to be true, and the second is that I wanted to make the chassis overall shorter, and 40cm panels would be slightly too big now to line up perfectly flush.

I also took the opportunity to increase the drive. SDVI had 2 NPCfasts, which I was fine with speed wise, however after I mounted them at the back to alleviate it getting stuck on the wall after losing that was several times, I was not happy with the turning circle I was getting. So I opted for the best of both worlds and went to 4WD with the rear wheels poking out the back. Drive is 2NPC regulars (weight is still at a premium), and 2 TWMRs, which make for a nice speed boost over SDVI while also giving me a much better turning circle.

I also just cleaned up some rough edges. RedAce mentioned in the OW4 qualifying stream that the way the disc went through the srimech panel partially irked him, so I rectified that, and I also took the opportunity to give it a nicer skin now that the sides are totally blank. Pretty happy with this one now.

I'm gonna be honest,  I completely forgot I even said that until you pointed that out.   :dumb)

But hey, this is possibly the cleanest Speed Demon yet.  Nice work mate.

I'd forgotten too but then when I was mid way through the rebuild it sprang to mind and I figured I might as well fix it on this version. You were right though I do think it looks better with a proper cutout for the disc

Wasn't gonna post this here since visually it's only a minor update to an existing bot, but I figured that we're trying to increase activity on the forums, and it's actually a total ground-up rebuild, so I figured I'd post it. This is the new CW version of Apogee. I'm just gonna say right now that I'm immensely happy with this thing. I basically managed to condense 90% of the features of the HW version into a CW (The only thing it lacks compared to the HW is 4WD, but it's actually comparably fast because it's 200kg lighter, and a tiny bit of armour). The flipper is now powered by 2 VDMA front hinges rather than 1 storm, which makes for a big increase in power (The version in DM3 wasn't actually able to self right, though that was because of the crash patch.) I also upped the drive to NPC fasts compared to the old CW version which only had NPC regulars.

I saved weight to do all of this by first narrowing the whole bot by 10cm, which required me to rebuild the entire bot. This also allowed me to use single T-minus wheels, rather than doubled up vlads, which made for a pretty massive weight saving. I also saved weight by reducing the batts slightly as we don't have 4WD on this one so it doesn't need as many. All this makes for a 600kg bot which is pretty much as powerful as the old 800kg version.

not bad. it's pretty tough to make clean linework with angled panels. wheel covers are nice.
i do feel like one other color in small places would help the scheme a lot, it seems a bit too monochromatic imo. something like you had on the VS.

Here's a fairly dull drum. I was working on something a bit more out-there but I was just tearing my hair out so I built this instead. Fairly unremarkable but clean at least. Downloaded the IRL drums specifically for this in order to make the perm protection look better. 2 perm 80s, dual NPC fasts for drive.

Posted this in the new RA2 central discord and got some good suggestions out of it, but I'm gonna post it here too for visibility. This is my successor to my Arena Champions entry, Ineffable, which I call Espionage. Please be aware that it's technically not finished, though I'm pretty much 100% satisfied with the looks and functionality of this thing, which is where my issue lies.

It's currently roughly 150KG underweight, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add weight. All the bits that need to be steel are steel, the flipper is as powerful as I can get it in this size and shape of bot, and there's as many batts as I can reasonably fit. I also don't want to go gluing random visual sh** to it because I think throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks never works well, and it's one of my biggest pet peeves with some peoples' build styles. I'd be really grateful if any of you could potentially suggest some way to get this up to 800kg while maintaining/enhancing the looks and/or functionality.

Drive is 2 NPC fasts, flipper is powered by 2 Medium VDMAs

And a rear shot:

Espionage Ass Unfinished.png

And one more time, just to reiterate, this isn't finished.

Oh, that looks sweet. I especially like the colour scheming and the little "ears" up top too.

The only thing I could suggest is maybe dropping some of the armour and getting it to CW? Although I guess that would mean starting over for your Arena Champions entry however, so perhaps not.

I've been strongly considering dropping it to CW yeah. It would be a doddle as I've already padded it to get to 650, let alone 800, but at the same time yeah I do want this thing in AC2 so IDK

Padded it bigtime with dumb stuff like a panel to protect the internals when the flipper is fired, and a steel bottom panel to maybe withstand gutripping a bit better. It's still 40KG underweight but it's at a point where I wouldn't feel quite so dumb entering it into AC2.

There's been some talk about the merits of wedges on VSes lately in some of the discords and I wanted to try making a wedgeless vert that was actually competitive. This is the result. The perm sticks out like a sore thumb unfortunately which is my main issue with this thing, but other than that I'm fairly happy with it. That said, it's also probably lacking in battery life as I just could not find anywhere to put batts (I have the spare weight for more batts as I'm currently sitting at 770ish KG, but just not the space) So it has 3 ants and a battlepack for 3 spin motors + a srimech. I'll probably make a version with a perm 80 instead of a perm 132 just for visuals sake, but since the goal of this was to try to make a wedgeless vert competitive, I'll stick with the 132 for now despite it looking pretty dumb.

it's got the wedge edges on the front you cheater

Pretty solid overall tbh, if you are trying to make the motor look less sticking out, maybe cover it with a drum?  It might look a bit ugly, but if you can make it work then more power to ya.
