Remove the ballasts & Put everything back there, The batts & Everything... Put them above the motors, Where you have the ballasts.
 
So you wont loose weight on them but still have enough weight to keep your bot stable :P
 
Also, You can shrink that chassis alot...
THink of it this way:
Imagine all the inner-chassis parts youre gonna use in the bot.
Put them above eachother (In your mind)
And press them against eachother as much as you can...
 
I prefer building the flattest chassis possible, But maybe you like to make small bases & Put everything on eachother :P

You have about 66kgs to spare. Use remaining weight to add secondary wedges on hindges or use weight to increase armor.

Hmm... I like symmetrical bots better but if you couldent fit those batts above the NPCs ok then :P

Also, Use Multi-Extenders (Those Black & Red Extenders) instead of those Anchor Extenders, Theyre 1KG lighter & theyre smaller.

You could put 2 Door Hinge Wedges on that & The actual flipper wedge...

You can make the cahssis less wide, By changing the Control Board's position or rotating it...

And if you can, You may also flatten the chassis, IDK if the Red Battz use all the chassis' height :P

Also, There could be a way of using ony 1 Half Sheet to defend the front part of the bot...
Itll take a bit of a heavy extender work, But its lighter than a 2nd sheet :P
But itll also provide less defence, So IDK.

Wrong wrong weapons... Those claws have normals i think.

Also, Most of the people use 6 Mag Motor or Dual Perm for spinning weapons ike that :P
Also, The extender work for the drive is too heavy, Avoid using Angle Extenders...
 
Also, You could widen the back part of the bot & Make the front part barely fit the spinning motor...
You can use TWM3R Drives, Theyre easier to handle...
 
The smaller the chassis the smaller the disc can be, Thus the less weight wasted
 
Youre only protecting the BIG motors outside of the chassis with such a bit disc, Put them inside or closer to it & make the disc smaller :P

You could use Normal, Polycarbonate extenders on the Multi Extenders though...
I dont know anything about flippers & I have never built any, Ofcourse it could use some tweaks, But it seems good to me :3

Flipper bot: Use the multi extenders as baseplate anchors only. They have less HP than aluminum extenders. Also you have the weight to add static spikes to score points if your flipper doesnt flip the other bot out. You could add a second burst motor with a flipper (I think). Also you might want to use the skirt pieces as a flipper not a wedge with a extender.

FBS bot: Don't use angle thingies to attach anything. Use perm magmotor gearbox or double perm motor for weapon not E-teck. You only need one Ant battery per motor at minimum so you could get away with 3 of them. Also you have about 300kgs left to play with. Put on more weapons better motors or something.

Also, Sparkey: not bad. The only things that I can think of to make that robot better are to change the wheels to Rubbers or something a little better than that and to put the multi-extenders on instead of the anchors.

Rubbers are good in stock coolrunner, but fail in DSL. Get Wide ant wheels. I'm also pretty sure that boxer gloves have normals, so you might want to use something else.

Iron fists don't have normals.  They are perfectly viable weapons in DSL, just not used much.  That is not a bad antweight; now try to make it invertible.

It's fine. Copals are fine for subweight classes (and some LWs as well, depending on the bot type). My CombatAnts 2 prototype uses Astros, but it's kinda too fast for my liking.

3 Ants = 19.5KGs/30amps
1 Red =  15KGs/28amps

Amps yes, but the total power is much greater with ants than reds. In other words they last longer.

Its OK but it should have a tighter chassis. And don't use ant wheels, they are easily broken and can cause havoks.


You're FAR better at DSL than at Stock. You should keep this showcase running.

Agreed.


But you kinda wasted the drive's potential with those wheels. Use slim motors with Hypnos so you can have a tighter chassis. And use a BSG instead of a Mag since they pack the same punch on a LW (I haven't compared the strengths when lifting SHWs, though), and with the extra weight, add a front stabilizer and probably some static weapons on top. :D

switched the wheels to micros, and took out a battlepack, and I think I'll leave the chassis, 'cause when I'm fighting, it seems the steep wedge helps get bots stuck oh him, and he needs to be balanced, or else he summer saults lol.

If it is your BBEANS entery can it OOTA a LW in the BBEANS v2 arena? Also the chasis looks like a good target for any spinner bot though. You might want to put a front stableizer on the front. That might stop your summersalt problem. You are getting better.

Any builder can win by shoving stuff off other stuff. It's the lamest way to win.

1) why the Car steering? it sucks? because he can wip around fast and I drive it better
2) is that really practical? yes, it does lots of damage, I almost beat Backyard ripper, but I need to upgrade the armour

not a bad idea, but executed poorly.

Car steering sucks no matter how you look at it. you drive eteks if you want to be fast. Weight limit, your not there yet, try giving it more weapons. WAY big of a chassis, you would be able to shrink it.

Maybe instead of the car steering, you can use the same drive motors that you have at the front of your bot and mount them on extenders, and use Hypnos or Vlads on all four. 

Other than that, get rid of the two large, orange batteries, replace one of them with an ant battery, shrink the chassis, and get a more powerful weapon motor; a dual perm would work well for this.

Alternatively, you can get rid of the rear drive system altogether to give you more weight to focus on other systems.

I agree with Doom, but if your going to use more weapons then I suggest upgrading to a 132.
Also the ants alone would easily power it, the SLAs only are eating weight.

Try to shrink the chasis to a cube shape or a small rectangle shape.
Try to come up with the weight to use drive E-teks instead of NPC's.
With current set up and remaining weight you could use 50 KG's hammers instead of 45KG's hammers.

If youre gonna use DSL... I suggest you to only build realistic designs, Since i dont think anybody makes serious DSL bots unrealistic.

I never built anything unrealistic, Even before coming to the forum, Simply coz i didnt know how to do it.
Its just like having a walkthrough of a game, When you see it once coz something was too hard you gotta fight the wanting to see it again to pass something medium/hard, Coz if you do... Youll take the fun of the game

Now, You should fight the building unrealistic stuff & Built realistic bots even if they suck :P

All right here we go.

Smaller chasis- if shrunk enough you can get enough weight to make the drum bigger.
Try to use different wheels - hypnos or ants(?) better grip = more speed and pushing power
put beater bars sideways? More surface area to contact other bot.
Make it invertable - no reason necessary
try 1 wider wedge if you can save weight with it.

As a rule of thumb, one ant is needed per spin motor. In other words you only need 4 ants for this robot.

^^ True and generally a good rule on LWs, but you might want to add more ants if you want a steady suplly of electricity. 1 ant per spin motor is depleted at the end of a 3 min match, and it is a good thing to have your bot running at full power for the whole match.

Actually, anchors don't suck. Anglers do.

But from what I can see here, Your extender work is incredibly messy. If you want it to be easier, just think of a real-life bot, imagine a 'skeleton' version of it, and replicate it here.

You don't need such a large chassis for stability. It's just a bigger target for gut-rippers. If you want stability, shrink the whole thing and use DSL bars and steel sheets.

Congrats on reaching the elisuve weight limit. Only thing I would change is take the small wedge off of the flipper and put polycarb sheets on a hindge to make a better wedge and increase the stance of the bot it will then probaly launch them higher. Use orange or large black batteries. already been said.

Not sure about this but maybe Vlad or tornado wheels instead. (need another to comfirm this)

I'm going to say that's un-realistic but I am probaly wrong. Then again how is Critical Emergancy's lifter setup realistic? You could add another ant battery or posibly increase the armor. I want to say drop the extender work to polycarb but then you will loose your weapons quicker. I don't know enough about popups to be able to give good advice.

I would delete the whole setup on the DSL Axle and use the weight to get a skirt hinge right up the top of the top plate with some aluminum skirts (see HazCon for reference) that will help feed other robots into the weapons and provide more protection

then as for you weapons turn the second aluminum extender 90 degrees (use the end attachment point) so you can ge an extra razor on each without adding more extender weight

Skirt hinges are just less wedgy. I would a recomend getting matal hinge wedges flat along the bottom, and keeping the skirt hinge wedge so it acts like a scoop.

As far as the bot, cut the armor to like 5 or 3mm Titanium and give it a more powerful/multiple weapon motors, and give it a LOT more weapons. You are probably going to have to increase the chassis size to accommodate the additions.

Get rid of custom components, they won't be needed for this kind of building. Also get Nar AI, more challenging robots to face. Add more weapons to the snappers, also what kind of snappers are you using, for that particular design I would use JX smalls. Please build to the weight limit (again Im not surprised), other than that you pretty much nailed it on the head for a beginner popup.

Anyways, with the free weight, you can get Tite 5 on this. And your skirt hinge work won't fully protect your bot. Push the skirt hinge all the way to the front so the whole chassis slope is protected. And rotate your burst motors, please. Asymmetry is ugly and slightly decreases effectiveness.

If you got regular NPCs in there, Technos would be best. If those are NPC fasts, your best bet is Hypnos, though you can use Technos (probably a bit too fast for your taste, though).

The only good steel armor is 5mm. All aluminum armor sucks, and all plastic and titanium armor rocks (though 3mm tite is just above average).

You could add angled skirts from the sides for side armor.

It looks pretty decent but could be better still...

1mm Plastic on a somehow exposed chassis is foolish ! I would use 5mm Titanium, Techno wheels, only 2 skirt hinges for wedge, maybe remove 2 ant batteries and remove these side steel skirts, they're not really helping the bot much.

He means attach the weapon motor to a multi-extender instead of a baseplate anchor, or directly to the baseplate, which you could do for the drive motors as well. 

If you want, you can add a couple of skirts coming off of multi-extenders to the side in a V formation; these can act as stabilizers as well as trap opponents.

Too much weight on the Piglet to be really a major threat. You might want to consider dropping some of those upper flails for better wheels or weapon motors.

Anyway, your choice of drive is about right. You should, though, upgrade your extenders and weapons so that one good hit doesn't take off half your weaponry.

To be fair, it was only one post. Click and Urjak were discussing bots that had some success with sawblades. On the whole, though, they're not that great. You do want to use Flail Razors or static Sledgehammers on an SnS. Or flamethrowers if you're JoeBlo. =P

With a hammer before it hits the other bot it's wedge is already halfway beneath your weapon, And if the bot low enough it could just pass over it (Ive tried that with a few SNSes with a low, wedged  bot) ;O

For originality ? Yes, and apart from that ? It is probably unique, but it's near-useless in combat against any bot worth it's weight, average-looking, doesn't use any special building technique or is not interesting in any way. It might be "original" but with no other redeeming factor.

It's like painting sh** in a rainbow hue rather than the classic brown. It's original, but not good in any way.

You must understand sparkey, than original building is pointless if it doesn't results in interesting bots. Look at Click or Joey.

Nah, nah, too many ants, dude. 6/8 ants for 4WD would be fine. Also, your bot can be easily invertible with Hypno wheels if your chassis is as low as the game can allow.

As for the weapons, the reason why 30/60kg sledges are preferred is that you don't need extenders to improve the reach.

For some reason the round extenders just don't look like realistic holders to me, if you know what I mean. Maybe try what Badnik said, add another 'support' maybe from the back of the chassis to the NPCs and possibly improve the skin. Just remember things don't always look great when they're kinda flimsy like some of that stuff.

The version of NAR AI I downloaded had Buzzard wheels in the wheel menu and Narry said they where okay in the skype group.

Looks alright. Extender work could be lightened up, though, you're spending a lot of weight on it at the moment, and LW HS don't need anywhere near that level of drive. Astroflights are the norm, so you can get more weaponry to cause more damage.

Pretty cool. Use a single metal hinge wedge (if that's too short, extend it with a DSL bar or something), and make the stabilizers static. If you've got extra weight left, just add some weapons on top of the discs.

yeah the gtm uploader is derped right now...

i had a bot kinda like that at one point. you want the spinners on the same angle as the wedge so it eats bots better and they don't jam the spinners.

It looks pretty dull tbh. I mean, standard chassis, random, unwieldy bunch of weapons on the front, big wheels... slanted wheels alone don't make a bot "OMG TEH ROXXORZ !!!!1!!1one!"

Maybe not to you, but I think it adds a lot of character to robots that would be otherwise generic looking.



Even with a cool skin, the placement of components is just aesthetically awkward...


As for the funky weapon setup, I built it to be loosely design around Trident mixed with the drive setup of  Donald Hudsons robot Karcas.

Nice. Someone wanted to put some random shapes on the side with the buttons in MS Paint I see. Still looks cool. Only thing I would change is the spiked clubs to maybe large beaters.

The other side actually has a ZigZag pattern, I was afraid that it would end up looking too cliche or boring so I threw those on there to change things up a bit.

Try and make the wheelguards better and try to make some protection for the burst motors and it's OK in by book. Not sure about the metal hinge spikes though.

Also on the rammer try to put a rear dsl bar or something so the motors arent exposed.
