So how exactly is that a full body popup?  Does the chassis flip up through the skirts with some razors attached?

It's easy really. There are 2 BSG's at the rear and both drive and wedges are attached to it (i don't like the wedges however), then to use the weapon, the BSG fires upwards, and the whole chassis plus the static razors tilt upward as well.
