Are you going for looks or fighting capability?

Regardless, build to the weight limit. 800.0 for HW's

Also, what armor?

With E.R.I.C. I was 50/50 and SP33D D34M0N it started as a really fast rammer then just went in to a wall climber...It can run across the roof of the test arena thingy.

most of my bots start as aimed for MW but thy end up being HW. Either by upgrades or by it works better as a HW.

tell me what you're trying to do with this robot (2 common goals in building are either to make something combat-effective, or to make it for rule of cool), and then i can give you advice on how to achieve you goal.

also, ERIC's disc cuts through the perm. that is not in any way realistic so i suggest changing it to a smaller weapon setup or getting a longer perm.

Go home, Dantomkia. You are drunk.

Also, always build to the weight limit.

Most of my bots are for combat effectiveness but not to OTT. I know Erics disc cuts through the perm (the reason for E.R.I.C SDE)

i built Irradiated Beast after seeing Dantomkia at the Norfolk Combat robot thingy.

OK, if you're going for effectiveness, then you only need to have 1 ant per spin motor. NOT for bursts though, they still need to be fully powered. also, mag snappers are basically an inferior version of the BSG motor.

Now this, I like.

As you're underweight, maybe considering swapping out the mag snappers for Judge Bursts, and, in order to stop them havoking, use 40cm Steel Extenders with the Spike Strips to give a bit more reach to the weapon, so you won't have to rely on the chassis wedge. I'm not too sure on burst motor battery use, but any weight left over could be used to buff the armour, or maybe add an ant or two?

*Helloface's. Just sayin'  ;)

Pretty decent, but as others have said you need to build to the weight limit regardless if you are thinking of putting these into competition.

Also, is SP33D D43M0N invertible?
Title: Re: Senstro's DSL showcase.
Post by: Naryar on September 12, 2013, 12:00:17 PM
Don't post bad advice, DeineMutter.

No, he doesn't need a srimech because this is a rammer and a srimech on a rammer is a massive waste of weight and space. Every rammer should be invertible anyways.

No, he does not need an omni extender because these are awful parts. Besides, armoring the rear of an ultra-fast bot is questionable, unless you love rumbles.

Now for advice on that rammer:

-Remove all the omnis and change them with better components. Change your extender work as well, use multiextenders to attach your eteks directly on them, and save weight. Read my extender work tutorial to get what I'm saying.
-You do need only 6-8 ants for that rammer. Make a smaller chassis as well.
-Use more weapons and better ones. On that matter, change your weapon extender work because it is fragile and poor overall. Try the DSL discs.

Nayrar, I wasn't posting bad advice! I was suggesting some modifications he could make if he wants to use it player-controlled, not for AI. I know rammers don't have a use for scrimechs, and I just meant that if he wants to add some extras weight, that's what he could do.

Just wanted to clear it up, I know Senstro IRL and I wouldn't be nasty deliberatly  ;)

First off, Judge Bursts are cheatbot2 components, which are not allowed in most DSL-Standard (effective building) tournaments. Change them to either 2 BSG-200s or one JX (a single large JX should be fine). Second, use more than two spike strips (use 4-6) and please provide us with an inside shot of EVERY bot.

I've already told this to TBD Devastator and I will tell it to you too: I honestly don't care/worry about the skin of the bot until the components are in the correct/ideal position. Then again, I prefer DSL-S to DSL IRL.

Helloface - Im aiming at realism and the one problem I have about non cheatbot flippers is that they are drasticly underpowered.  So i feel using judge bursts makes it feel like the days of chaos 2. I do not intend to enter these bots in tournaments, although there is Jonzu's tournament coming up.

Rnifnuf - ALPHA Radiation was built after advice on Irradiated Beast.

Judges are okay, they are allowed in most IRL competitions, but you may want to make the bot slightly larger to fit the wheels and NPCs in the chassis. That would make it look better.

Great job here  :thumbup The only thing I can suggest is changing the control board to a blue control board. Not that the extra 1kg will matter here, but it can sometimes matter and it's a good habit to get into.
I assume it is a MW powered by Judge Burst?

Because they are cheat components, and far superior to any other burst in the game for only a very low weight and a normal power consumption. Hence unbalanced.

Because they encourage lazy design in IRL flippers, due to them being game breakers.

The low weight is somewhat counterbalanced by the fact you need to put at least 30kg on them, so all Judge flippers are going to be at least 65kg. You could probably get two BSG flippers in for about that weight so I'd say it's not a huge imbalance.

It's not like everything is perfect in DSL2 anyway, there's plenty of examples of inbalance.

Yes it is, but as long as we do IRL tournaments we need a minimum of balance.

Why are you exposing your drive that much, especially on a flipper a.k.a. a design that can't win without his drive ? Keep it inside.

Don't use the Stock angled connectors because they're awful.

No need for poly extenders on that wedge as well.

Strengthen your flipper as well, it will take more hits therefore will last longer therefore you will have more of a chance.

Far too much ants.

I find JX's unpractical on LW's, but no one's stopping you to make an actual JX flipper LW -it'll be original.

you still have 100KG to use (or 300 if you want to build to a *real* weightclass). try putting some weapons like tornado teeth on the flipper so the judge burst doesnt start rupting.

Also, better drive, more armor, stronger flipper arm, invest in a Beta burst, add spikes on it ?

On a lighter note it can self right.

If I remember right, there's a way to stop the beta geared havoking when AI'd, but I've no idea what it is.
As for the bot, have you tested it out on anything? I'm just wondering if the front is too thin to keep anything there long enough to get hit properly.

So with a while since I posted here I will give you a treat... 3 bots at once aren't you lucky.

So to start with my World championship Entry.

Next I was watching Series 1 of Robot wars and wanted to make one in that style. (Good but with HUGE floors Eg. Ground clearence, Weapon or lack of, "Prototype")

So first of is my first front hinged flipper, Black.

I'd personally remove the two steel extenders sticking out on the Schoop. The "flag" on Itzy is useless unless you attach it onto a 360 axle first.

Black looks like the hammers clip the wheels, and possibly the extenders. I lk hw the support for the perm also wraps itself over the bot. Biohazard needs some support on top, and the bar looks like it goes through the chassis

someone needs to teach you to make proper extender work...

alright first never use the omni extenders. you have multi extenders, and they can be rotated, and occasionally baseplate anchors. Second, don't use anglers unless the situation calls for it. Right there they don't.

also, since you are building irl, make that extender setup that holds the disc less flimsy. right now it looks like it's gonna break and fly away on the first hit.

finally this weapon design is somewhat messy. use heavier weapons/ a better beater setup (you have a DSL disc, and plenty of attachment points, and also different attachment points on a large beater) instead of adding randomly small beaters on large beaters.

What weapon motor are you using?

Is it stable? Looks like it would fly away after the first hit. Also you might want to get rid of the piglets as drive and use slimbody motors, you've already got the weight for it.

yeah just rebuild the chassis a tiny bit to make room for astros or something. Just a trapezoid with the larger side in the back should be perfect. so not like |__|, but like \__/
it's not exactly a big deal, the chassis is just a simple box

do not use piglets for drive. Really.

Also I really mean no offense, but me thinks we need to teach you how to build properly before you make an AI pack.

Extender work of your latest bot seems messy. Is there something to hold the bot AND then a maw ? (Well, two of them ?)

Although the design looks interesting. it needs some work though

I know Piglets arn't drive but other moters wont fit

No, you can put copals in it and it still will be faster.

I find having them externally makes them very flimsy.

you are kidding right ? external piglets are one of the toughest motors, they have 9000 hp.

actually i'm surprised people are not using them as situational external armor more...
