Title: RPJK's Probable 6 Month Stand DSL showcase.
Post by: RpJk on September 18, 2011, 02:56:15 AM
Decided to make a showcase even though months ago I did not want to make a showcase Because of how it used to crash years ago.
Also I want to build designs like clamps, flippers, Drums, VS's etc.
Ok lets get down to business.

Drumlishment.
Unstable, Fast and underweight.
Armour is Titanium 3mm.

Alright for first bot?

Use only ants. You also got too fast Drive motors...

Replace anchors by multi extenders, use only ants on drums, NPC Fast with technos would be better as long as the NPC fasts are inside the chassis... also think about how you might want to learn how to lighten your extender work while keeping enough HP. As an example, don't use angled connectors since they have not been upgraded in DSL 2.1 and now suck compared to flippermakers, hex plates or metal sheets.

<3 the name.

Yeah, what they said.  The drive is overkill.  Try to strictly use ants for all your builds.  The general rule with ants is one per spinning motor and you should be set.

Glad to see you in the DSL showcase section.

People would proabably bet I would be better in DSL.

Anyways I lost the bot while downloading BBEANS DSL.

Anyways I've Got NAR AI 1.1.

One Question

Can I use something other than angle extenders for wedges?
Also I want to become a wedge and drum specialist.

3 ants or 1 battlepack per BSG, 5 ants for a small JX, 7 for a large JX, and three tall black batteries for Beta bursts.

21 (iirc) or 3 black batts should do a beta burst, 2.5 (2 if you're in nar ai) for a bsg.
the others people already posted or aren't worth it :P

Oh and that e-tek is so exposed i doubt the weapons actually hit anything without the e-tek  :p

Either get a wedge or get longer reach (btw, choose the second one :P)
And stop using ba and angles, use flipper segments and multi extenders.
And that chassis is rather huge :P shrink it and try to mount things externally.
Put the skirts at base level so they are flat and get a bit longer reach.

Stop using stock anglers and baseplate anchors...

So what should I put outside of the chassis?

Look at Craaigs showcase if you want the archetypical design for that sort of VS.

/endplug

Once you've seen them, feel free to try and improve it, because I want to see the look on his face when someone does a decent improvement :D

No hard feelings craaig D:

It's not realistic for a start.
Use a DSL Bar.

Or some of mine but they are built a bit differently than his.

As for your VS you might want to try a setup like this. (http://i52.tinypic.com/fzbz2o.jpg)

I think it's a little too unstable.

I think it's a little too unstable.

Understatement of the week...

Anyways, you have no stabilizers to speak of and your weapon extender work is crap TBH. This bot is running towards failure quickly if you don't change it.

First you have to make the decision if you want a few haevy weapons or alot of smaller weapons.
Title: Re: RPJK's Probable 6 Month Stand DSL showcase.
Post by: SKBT on September 28, 2011, 09:45:48 PM
No, you want a good core setup before focusing on weapons. I shoot for around 80-120kg of weapons on a MW and 200kg or more for a HW.
This (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/5445sfdsf.png) is basically my core setup for almost all of my VS's.

Try shaving off some weight with Aluminium Plates- that way, it'll provide adequate protection, whilst retaining the damage.

On that note, wouldn't it be better to use a DSL bar instead of a disk for the hammers?

So much bad extender work...

Really needs better stabilisers and drive

Use some grippier wheels, shrink the chassis and use the lighter control board.

Maybe it's still in the Teams folder ?

Go open the bot files in your teamX folder in Teams (teamX being the number of the team your bot was in). If you read your bot's name in one, you haven't lost it.
