Tips:

Use Techno Destructo wheels, they're grippiest and go fastest.

Instead of heavy DSL discs, use the black 80cm discs. You'll get more weapons for less weight.

Widen your plows, it helps get bots closer to your weapons.

Rotate multi-extenders instead of using baseplate anchors and angle extenders. This saves weight.

Try to make use of some of the weight you're using right now for your steel 10 armor and add weapons or extend the plows.

Other than that, it looks pretty good. Nice to see new members that have potential.

Thanks for the advice, but what do you mean by black 80cm discs? Aren't the smallest of those discs 100cm?
I'll change the design around a bit and post back later.

I think he means 100cm.

Eh, haven't built anything in a while. I meant whatever the smallest black disc is.

The rear ramplate is terrible, Fyi. You don't need anything protecting the back because the AI never goes there anyway. I'd try to put on a metal hinge wedge honestly.

For Comet:

Use the low chassis glitch to put on NPCs with Hypnodisc wheels. It should be invertible.

Don't stack ant batteries, it's unrealistic and you don't need a third ant anyway.

Use extenders, not a disc, to attach weapons.

Use razor tips as weaponry instead of pole spikes. Or Small DS teeth. Either one works.

Try dropping the Vertical Spinners armor down to something like TI3 and using two perm 80's, instead of the single E-tek.

I gave a skirt wedge a quick try just now, and it doesn't really do much, the weapon sticks out further than the wedge, so it's effectively useless.

Comet is actually invertible as it is, but like I said I've already got a few ideas for Comet II that should make it far more effective.
As for the batteries, realistically they wouldn't be locked in either a vertical or horizontal position and permanently stuck in rows of three, it looks to me like there is plenty of space for nine batteries in that space. The chassis should be designed to fit everything in better on Comet II anyway, so I wont need to stack the batteries.

Use extenders, not a disc, to attach weapons.

Use razor tips as weaponry instead of pole spikes. Or Small DS teeth. Either one works.
I realised that the disc was a problem pretty early on, that was one thing I already planned to changed in Comet II.
As for razors, I was using them originally but they broke off far to easily, when I switch to extenders rather than a disc I should have more than enough razors to make up for that.

Try dropping the Vertical Spinners armor down to something like TI3 and using two perm 80's, instead of the single E-tek.
Thanks, I'll give that a go soon, the weapon's acceleration is pretty lousy to be honest.

Edit: I've had a go at putting Perms instead of the E tek, but I can't seem to find any way to use them that doesn't put the discs too far apart, what exactly did you have in mind?

I personally disagree.  Wedge-less VSs get tossed around easily which leaves more of their parts open to attack, including the chassis.  I know this because the old version of Civil Offense IV had this problem against Hope No More 4, but once I added rear armor it was much less prone to getting KO'd while being thrown around.  Though I will agree that the ramplate he's currently using is terrible.

Speaking of armor this could use a half-sheet or 2 attached to the baseplate, and last time I checked 10mm titanium wasn't much stronger than 5mm titanium for being twice as thick, so use the latter instead.

As for Comet, it could definitely use a better weapon like a hammerhead, and it really doesn't need a stronger armor than 5mm plastic.

If I were to switch to 5mm I'd have far too much free weight with nothing to replace it with, at least nothing I can think of.

More weapons or external armor, or a more powerful weapon motor like SKBT suggested.

I guess I'll add more external armour then, more weapons would just over complicate things, and like I said before, I can't figure out any good way to use the Perms.

if you swap the heavy teeth for 10kg beater bars and light ds teeth then it will be better imo

and the lightweight needs way more weapons.

If you want to use one perm then attach an extender so you can get 2 disks without making it unrealistic

Eugh, half of that advice is meh. As Ounce said, top point is invalid. And a single wedge on a VS? Either have two or none at all. Plus you would have to put stabilisers on the back so it doesn't tip backwards in a wedge war.

Discs are handy for attaching weapons, blue jet did quite well with them. Plus they look cooler.

Razors and teeth are great and all, but theoretically the higher piercing on pole spikes, and the fact that you would only be ramming with the tips (so normals don't really matter so much) means that pole spikes aren't a terrible choice here. And a third battery is never a bad thing with 2 motors.

Pole spikes and pointy tips work better with a stronger drive, as they require all the force they could have to deal damage, whereas razors and DS teeth can passively deal damage when hit.

Pretty cool stuff for a new guy, though. Keep up the good work.

pole spikes are just plain bad. USE RAZORS AND BEATERS !

Commet's weapons don't need to be on individual MEs. Pandora's Box doesn't need the back plow and you should upgrade the weapon motor.

Comet's weapon setup can work at times, it doesn't give the opponent any weak extender work to aim for. I'll agree with you on Pandora's Box, though, the back plow seems a bit pointless, and there really should be 132's on this rather than 80's.

The weapons are fast enough as it is, sometimes when I hit the enemy PB3 flips into the air and the back goes straight into the enemy's weapon, that's why the plow is on the back, without that I probably would've been destroyed when I was testing it against the BBEANS champion bots.

Use a metal hinge wedge instead of a skirt hinge wedge. Metal hinges are wedgier, just watch out for AGOD.

Thanks, I noticed the wedge had trouble getting under some bots.

Hey, thanks.

Also I like Comet's weapon setup. Keeps the weapon from breaking in 1 hit, common against certain popups.

Still inefficient, though. You'll save more weight with multiple skirt hinges instead.

Skirt hinges are far too wide, I could still lose a lot of my weapons in a single hit, with that few weapons, I'm far better off having them separate.

Well it has been done successfully in the past, actually. See JoeBlo's T-Road and SKBT's Jaws of Defeat for successful rammers that use skirt hinges.

have 3 skirt hinges ontop of each other (one on the bottom, middle and top) and angle the bottom one upwards and the top one downwards. keep the middle pointing forwards.

And see where the npc's attachment points are? thats as big as you want your chassis. Have the npc's sticking out.

Well, I've just started getting around to making Comet 2, but I'm having trouble with the skirt wedges, I have no problem getting the top and bottom ones attached where they should be, but the middle one won't attach unless the black part is inside the chassis, where I can't attach anything to it.

Edit: I fixed that problem now. The collision mesh sticks out way behind the black part and I wasn't aware.

You need JoeBlo's Narmor-B-Gone fix. It removes that annoying collision mesh from the skirt hinge, so then it has no collision mesh at all, except the silver bit. I'm not entirely sure where you can get it from, though.

ty4er, I don't think having the motors sticking out was such a good idea, as soon as they even get tapped by a weapon they start smoking.

They'll start smoking, but since they're attached to the baseplate, they won't fall off. If you take a look at Puncture III in my showcase, or on the Wiki, it's only got Plastic 1 Armour, but since the motors envelop pretty much all the chassis, it's very difficult to KO. The motors'll start smoking, it'll be going slower than usual, but it'll still be going.

I thought it would've been a problem, since the drive is pretty much powering my weapons.

But, I AI'd it (And PB3), and it doesn't seem to be a problem at all.

PB3 is pretty cool. Definitely upgrade that wedge to metal hinge if you want it to be useful, and with any leftover weight, maybe add some more chassis/perm protection. Also, I can see the perms are on looong MEs. Just use the extra-short one and raise it up to save some weight. Weight could also be saved by using the blue control board instead of the green one, if you aren't already, and make sure you have 4 ants in there. :D
