Pokébros DSL TipSite
« on: September 26, 2017, 11:31:47 AM »
Hi! I've just got into making IRL bots and so here is a showcase and hopefully you like them. My first bot I shall present to you is Tohru maximus who is pretty successful by my standards. Any feedback is appreciated

Great to see ya made a showcase!

I like the look of this 'bot, especially with the punny name. Only problems are that the skin's a bit pixelated and the drum should be connected proper, but its a great first attempt nonetheless! :D

Also, whats its armour? ;P

And yeah I tried getting the image better with not much success which is why I put the image at the side. Im just working on the drum now :). Steel 5 or 3 but im pretty sure its 5

This is very impressive, Im guessing you've done a lot of lurking as I see you around the forums. My only criticism is the drum connecting to each other and also that you don't need that big battery. Non the less it's a great bot & I hope to see more from you soon.

Whilst RA2 can only export the chassis texture at 256x256, you can import larger texture sizes into it (512x512 or 1024x1024 being some more common sizes).

There's not much more I can suggest that hasn't already been said but it's a very good first bot. Excited to see what else you can make. :)

Digging some of the details. Really like the use of the wedgelets near the wheelguards.  Solid showcase starter.

That really means a lot man, though you're probably doing a lot better than me. With the drum, you could add another drum to each, it'll make it more complete

Keep it up you've got a good bot here

Looks very good for a first showcased bot. I'm gonna echo the advice everyone else has already given, with the addition that I'd personally try to connect the wheelguards to the back of the bot somehow, as in real life they'd be Hella fragile only being attached at 1 point like that.

Good stuff though. Keep it up

Yeah I don't have much weight left which Is not very good for the IRL aspect

Also the image is now fixed so it now looks better

Time for my signature advice: you don't need that much battery power. Two black batteries will probably do. That'll save you some weight that you can use neatening up the drum and/or wheelguards. If you have Steel 5 armour you can also save weight by switching to Plastic 10, as it's about the same strength but slightly lighter. Solid first effort, though! Looking forward to seeing your other bots!

After the great response Tohru Maximus got I thought I might show you my other bots that I made before I made Tohru so I expect you guys have quite a few suggestions

Croclett.png

notes:
.Croc-U-Bot is a reference to the Rick and Morty character
.Croclett trips over himself a lot
.Croc-U-Bot only has a small space between his jaws
.Croclett has the same drum type of drum type as Tohru so it does need to be changed
.Both use a skirts hinge to help there design

Croc-U-Bot looks pretty cool! If you can shave some weight off somewhere, I'd recommend putting some actual teeth in the jaws. Croclett also looks nice, and you've got 20kg to play with so you should be able to fix up the drum. Some of the extenders are clipping through the wheels, don't know whether that's a problem or not.

I might try move the wheels  a bit to make it look nicer and yeah Croc-u-bot needs a bit more bite
