Title: Operator's DSL Toolshed
Post by: Operator on April 02, 2015, 03:22:22 PM
This is my first showcase robot, I wanted to keep it compact yet light and powerful, this is what I ended up with.

It started out big in a small way and then got smaller in a big way. It uses 3mm Plastic armour.

I'm not even sure if this is going to be instantly deleted for being terrible satire.

I like it but IMO it could do without the front skirt (if for IRL purposes, not competitive).
I think it's a good start to a showcase though.

Excellent start to your showcase. You could cut down on the empty space and use wide ants, then use the extra weight to put some armor on the front. Other than that, it's really good.

Welcome to GTM, your bot looks good but the skin is kinda bad and low res and the name hasnt much correlation to the skin or the bot.
Showcase advice BTW can be brutal so know what you are getting into.

Its low res and theres no tight pants involved just a golden lump.
Bot itself is very good though.

I agree with avalanche. bot's pretty good, especially for a newbie, but the skin's is really low res so it hurts the bot overall.

Just because you have different opinion, doesn't mean you can warn us like that. Avalanche is giving poor advice like always.

Jonzu, you and HA went straight on the offensive. Just say you have a differing opinion, explain your point of view. Thats what Naryar is getting at here.

Not a bad start, but there are a few things you can optimize. Firstly, try reducing the chassis height, and then swap the DSL discs you're using for hex plates since they mount on piglets and are lighter and smaller. With that you can have either beaters or razors, plus some extra weight to swap your front wedge mounting to a metal hinge.

Oh yeah, you'll need to axle load the piglets first but that's not too hard.
