you're actually a madman, or smart to evade IRL and all the grey area bullsh** surrounding it, not sure
this but HW could be decent

You bet.

Also I have an idea for a hybrid: shell spinner + face spinner

sounds really impractical, but I guess I can make something like one of them flippers/shell spinner things

go full woke and put the face spinner on the burst motors. bonus points if you have another going overhead
:really_makes_you_think:

even more bonus points if you use the nar ai dragons breath motor. and harpoons

nah, i think i'm just going to dump the nar ai components idea. was never a good idea, didn't stuck

Rebalancing DSL 2.1 could be doable, but it would need some more thought. and likely more work than i am willing to put into this

aaanyways, some progress.

Totally overshoot that weight, I think I'm gonna need to go back to 2WD Etek. And that's the weight with the antiballast and 1mm Titanium instead of 3, it was at around 1100 kg with no wedges and side hammers.

I would just mount the drive eteks outside the bot. don't think it's worth it to have them baseplate mounted considering how massive it makes the chassis

hmm, looks like i may make an extenderbot, ya. add some 15kg or 20kg armor plates as needed and just stuff that chassis with batteries, ME's, and inversed anchors. the chassis is like 400kg at this point or so

I have no idea how I convinced myself to build, but here it goes.

The Machine 2. Heavily inspired by some of Philetbabe's old-school NAR AI designs. The Machine, and Overdose to name them.

https://wiki.gametechmods.com/index.php?title=Overdose

3mm plastic. has a WP836E and 2 ant batts. npc fasts. the rest you can see.

tested, it's quite decent but man my driving is bad. also I have an intuition that the flipper part isn't that useful, but hell. it's cooler like that. also that gives it a way to get out of wedge locks.

...is standard not dead yet ?  :dumb)

two in one day !

more philetbabe inspiration.

Big Love v2. I had to go in the darkest, most terrifying parts of the internet to find a skin, then I just used the original bot's skin because it was just a plain texture.

5mm aluminium (really weird choice, yes, but I believe the armors are balanced now.) not a particularly good design metagame-wise, but i always liked the bot itself and there, it's rebuilt.

For the record, here's the original bot :

i just cleaned it up. tighter chassis, more weapons, removed a bit of chassis armor and it is probably faster too.

mine is invertible (surprisingly) but lacks the ability to rear against a wall and self right with the drive only. oh well.

hey old timer
i mean whatever you do it's gonna beat the snot out of any current bot but darnit im still gonna give feedback

i still encourage you to try PvP through parsec because it makes a lot of bot types more viable and gives a lot of room to innovate without the shackles of AI. i think a flipper/juggler hybrid is a great candidate for this kind of thing

i'm a little concerned with it being underweaponed and a lot concerned with only having a single spinner, i feel like two would make it a lot more stable and easier to juggle but i could be wrong. the flippers are probably a little superfluous but if you use it in pvp you can strategically flip to keep opponents off balance which could be very useful. you might as well make the flipper skirts the angled ones to get a bit larger surface area, you have the weight.

EDIT: consarn it you added another one when i was typing. but its not a true phil clone unless you use exclusively overkill tires/gigantic treads with insane servo weapons!

i kind of fail to see the point of the JX. it's solid, not much else to say. if you ditch the jx you can get away with lighter extenders than tite and add some armor panels by the wheels or something. i guess if you got rid of the back skirt and swapped the jx to move the upper spikes it could self right lmao

glad you're still building chief. i might throw together that sns/flipper myself that i was suggesting a few pages back. if you ever want to try parsec pvp sometime hit me up.cross-atlantic lag might be a little rough but trust me it is waaaay better than hamachi or gameranger.

well, underweaponed is not too much of a concern considering it's more undercutter than HS. it has 68 kg of weapons which is more than most MW popups, sawbots, or such. for a normal HS it'd definitely be, yes.

the single spinner... well, it's part of the design. yeah, i have to struggle against torque. just have to keep under the opponent with quick drive. a more typical juggler design would kill my weapon weight and require more batteries, and pull against the weight requirements for a flipper/top spinner in MW.

and the flipper skirts are the angled ones for sure. else it'd just fail to flip anything if it had flat flippers.

about big love... well, if I ditch the JX, it wouldn't be the original design ? i'd make a self righter but that would include either smaller drive or less armor. and putting the JX burst spikes upward doesn't do much other than selfrighting. besides i'm pretty sure a JX with 100+ kgs of weapons on it isn't going to self right that.

yeah as the design is, it's pretty poor by DSL-S standards. i only made it slightly better overall.

yo so i wanted to try some weaponed flippers.

the first had a jx. it looked like babby's first dsl-s and i will not disgrace this showcase by showing it here.

anyways. unnamed bot. it has npc fasts and plastic 1. yes, this is how weight starved i was.

it looks alright but is pretty bad. even with 3 snappers it's not as powerful as i thought, i guess this is the con of 30 kg per snapper. also unstable as ****, again, no weight - don't want to sacrifice drive and can't really sacrifice battery power. also rear stabilizers would make it harder to self-right. it also flips itself if it fires when not under a bot :rage

have a feeling weaponed flippers are just a very mediocre bot type. or it's not fitted to MW.

doesn't look too hot i can't lie, although i think no weaponed flipper looks decent ever
might be able to do a bit of a weight save by swapping the hinges for skirts (presumably have to axle load them to get both on a bot this thin), since i'm pretty sure there's no significant difference

i think i might be able to put them both if I rotate the first one in a different direction. but we'll see. i might upgrade that one, dunno if weaponed flippers are this good. but maybe i'm just lazy.

anyways, something MANLIER

Named G O T T A G O F A S T because this is just a silly meme bot. NPC fasts boy ! 3mm titanium so it doesn't have terrible armor. invertible and such. i could probably keep it to 2 ants but in the small likelyhood it doesn't rage III out of the arena in the first 30 secs, battery power is still nice on rammers.

this should be entertaining to watch.

also i lost the first version due to a dumb wiring window crash. then built another one in five minutes. whoo.

not even sure it it's an inertia flipper per se. just a dumb rage III style build. i guess you can call those inertia flippers

i kinda want to enter something silly with 3WD NPCF in Teammates

another goofy maximum speed robot. you might see a resemblance of an old bot from this showcase, that's because it is.

3mm plastic. i guess i could use technos and NPC fasts but I think it has more character with eteks. could make it tighter too but that will be at the cost of stability. and it's already not very stable :P.

Gouge, my entry for Teammates. yeah it's technically a HW but that's well within the hybrid weight allowance rule. (what did you expect me to enter ? hybrids oui oui)

i expect it to do well enough but it probably will get killed pretty fast by flanking gut rippers cuz it only has 3mm plastic. or OOTA'd by the flippers. those flippers are pretty scary. also it's a true popup and not a standard popup so i expect it to be quite a bit worse at KO'ing chassis.

i get what you're going for with the wheelguard skirts but i'm wondering if there is a better way to use the weight. you don't even need an angled chassis with this design really? you could probably get some more weapons or widen the wedges with the weight you save if you build the chassis like this \_/ instead of |_|

considering 50% of bots are super wide for the arena and they constantly strike and get thrown off center the central blade's walls...

i get what you're going for with the wheelguard skirts but i'm wondering if there is a better way to use the weight. you don't even need an angled chassis with this design really? you could probably get some more weapons or widen the wedges with the weight you save if you build the chassis like this \_/ instead of |_|

i tested removing the side armor and increasing armor. sadly, DSL 2.1's armor weights have a very awkward progression and it hops 20kg or so.

as I build it i was thinking of making the frontal wedge more wide, yeah. like a standard square chassis but with a wedge going more wide as it goes toward the ground. might do that.

experimental foolishevil ripoff. 3mm tit, npc fasts ofc. i wondered why is this an hybrid when i could make it more easily a wedged poker but... why not ?

nar ai bots yeaaa

the new mud runner. i went with a stock-like interpretation of the bot. it's very prototypish. probably not up to dsl-s standards. i will rebuild it.

Scout, aka "hey i don't suck anymore". somewhat inspired by the teammates flippers. would have done something less basic, but had no inspiration. hey, at least it's useful now. it used to get stuck on it's back, no longer !

idk if anyone cares anymore about that pack but i'm still posting them  heck

these some uggo bots i must say
i think the mud runner one could do with the wheels further back and also further out horizontally since the whole design looks a little too compact for how fragile it is
