I tried making a vertical spinner.

Tested it too. Could have a very strong contender for this display tournament, so I intentionally snuck in a couple of weaknesses to be exploited. :L

Any 'bot types that I haven't tried building yet? Anything anyone would like to see me try for this thing? :-)

How about a drum?

Ooooh, that's an idea. I have built a drum before but it was literally just a blue invertible box.

I'll have a go at that.

(edit: when I wake up later, anyway. Just realised it's 4am. Whoops.)

Why does that sound familiar..

Also, The Highlander 2 has had a reasonably successful run, scooping up two second place tournament finishes. So the next step would be the third incarnation, correct? :gawe:

797.9, Tite 5. 4 NPCFs and Vlads, same as before, but the drums are now powered by NPCFs too. Could easily be built IRL, but everything in the game is direct drive. Also 8 ants, so it can keep going for the full 3 minutes, grinding away at opponents. Added a nice insignia on top as well.
Oh, right :P

nah you said that though and it instantly reminded me of NFX's Highlander lol

Anyway, try building a shelled flipper or hammer (aka it looks like an SS but it's got a flipper or a hammer or something, like Revenge of Trouble and Strife) Should be a fun little challenge :P

Ha, mine's not quite as aesthetically pleasing as NFX's, though. I do want to revisit the drum design and see if I can come up with something a bit more original, but we'll see.

Your ability to make simple bots, yet catchy to the eye at the same time is quite impressive. I'm letting you know that I'm not a very active member in the forum and I mostly post in my own showcase. But somehow you're making me comment here, lol

Ha, nice. Thank you.  :thumbup

Still don't see much of the appeal in my designs. But then again, I see them practically every day when I boot up RA2 so maybe I'm just getting bored of them.

ANYWAY, these two aren't for the display tournament, but will hopefully be my first ever entries in a forum tournament (Battlebots 6).

A lightweight with twin discs called Cataclysm, and a mediumweight with horizontal bar spinner thingymabob called The Red Dragon. Bit of Welsh background going in there.  :approve:

(yes, I know they're not going to be competitive, but whatever)

Still completely stumped on what to do for a heavyweight entry, and I've never built a SHW before, and don't know how.

Might take Kossokei up on the challenge of a shell lifter.

Cataclysm looks like it will do well. S3 Discs are really damaging.

Cheers guys. The only issue is that Cataclysm will get dominated by wedges. Of which I'm sure there will be a few.

That was gonna be my BB6 Heavyweight. But I think I'll probably go for something a bit more interesting, and reskin that one for the display tournament. We'll see.

There's already a couple of Robot Wars 'clones' knocking about in my files so one more won't harm (a 259 inspired vertical spinner and a Mace style lifter the main ones I'll be using).

So, Kossokei. You challenged me to create a shell lifter. I FAILED.

It's not IRL, it's completely ineffective in a fight, but whatever.

See if you can have a go at what I was attempting with this.

(yes I did make this in the half hour or so since my last post. Kind of want that half hour back.)

Hey, it ain't too bad.

Maybe use a Tazbot arm thing for the lifter, change the twm3r to a servo and it'll be a little better (And function better too?)

T'was a good try, I'll give you that :P

Feeling rather uninspired as of late.

Hopefully a bit of creative spark shall return and I can start some actual design work, rather than run-of-the-mill entries to bulk out the numbers.

So, I decided to dip my toes into the water of SHW building. After a couple of awful looking efforts, and a crash just as I was getting a design I liked, I went ahead and built a nice, generic, shell spinner.

This was gonna be my BB6 SHW entry, seeing as I've entered all the others.

LOL NO. Back to the drawing board when I wake up.
