Title: Lernatix' DSL attempts
Post by: Lernatix on June 10, 2009, 12:57:09 PM
OK I went and put my other bots in the wrong thread... :ban_smily:

MODS:  feel free to merge.  ;)

Anyway I have my latest bot which I'm quite happy with.
I actually won some battles with it, including the RAZOR
which I remember being quite deadly on the TV show.

Steely-Dan
HW 800kg
Titanium 5
(http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/cc322/Lernatix/RA2_Steely01.jpg)

A LOT of unused and useless space up front. This was an evolution from
another bot design which had a large gas piston in the front. (Major problem
loading stuff on top of a large piston for some reason.) It then turned into
a chinook helicopter that didn't cheat until it hit something. :D  And then
I decided to go with the home made discs. Finally a bot with attitude!

The replicas are actually quite weak. DSL 3.0 will remedy that.

What an unusual Angled Spinner.
Does that front hold up well?

Another question, what is with the inside razors?

@taka - yes the front holds up.  The rear battery was the problem, hence the armour.

@trumpet - the inside razors are for catching anything going under the disc, the
motors and wheels are slightly unprotected. They also help to reflect
                any flipper bot attacks.

You should get your spinners to protect the front, get a faster bot and add a wedge.

good title wording, DSL attempts
that doesnt look like a lot of weapons for a hw and what i heard is that razors are quite brittle
no where near fast enough, use npc left/right fast the hypno wheels and u shoud be fine
that will need a wedge, the slope in the chassis wont be enough to get under most dsl bots
And i think u've got balance casters on, get rid of them if u do, riding on the chassis doesnt slow down the bot

Cheers for the feedback guys,  still learning.  ;)

I got two more done today, started with a smaller, shared chassis.

Golden Retriever
MW 399kg
Titanium 5
(http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/cc322/Lernatix/RA2_Gold01.jpg)

Just an attempt at staying within 399kg.  No real offensive weapons but
he's damn fast and very loyal. He also wears a skirt and can self right.

10 Second Car
HW 799kg
Steel 5
(http://i524.photobucket.com/albums/cc322/Lernatix/RA2_10sec_01.jpg)

Beat most of the "Reincarnated" bots - except "Gammaraze III" (DAMN!)
The wheel/engine combo is pretty zippy for a HW and the "wheelie bar"
makes the twin small burst engines more effective. It is able to self right
and could probably do with a skirt to be successful. Wanna race?

Mags on a HW aren't real fast...
You're definatly improving.
