The only suggestion for now is to make a larger chassis to accommodate the weapon motors.Since the disks are angled down slightly I'm not entirely sure how to fit the weapon motors into the chassis and still have them angled. Any advice on this?

And insides:

Not much to say about it really, other than it's a bit boring but does decently against the DSL AI bots.
you should replace the aluminiums holding the Perm 80s(?) with polycarbonates to save weight
first bot <33333333not gonna lie, 2nd one looks pretty cool too.
both standard and IRL:heart_smiley: love it when members have variety.
Rest assured there will be some standard stuff comming in the near future.both standard and IRL:heart_smiley: love it when members have variety.
Wow, wasn't expecting such a positive reaction, thanks guys! Anyway, I made another one:

Funny how this new guy comes out of nowhere and he is way better than the majority of us.
Hmm, I don't think the DSL-S regulars would appreciate that. The Beater bars are mounted sideways on the disc, the asymmetrical design of the front skirt doesn't look aesthetically pleasing
the asymmetrical design of the front skirt doesn't look aesthetically pleasingdon't matter
Finally, the rear plow is a light one, which is only recommended for use in LWs and lowerno it's fine

Aesthetics and DSL Standard do not go together.

You can do a MW juggler/drum hybrid, and even with MW and such an hybrid you can manage to be above average by DSL-S standards... just use less weapon weight in general. Change these discs to 4kg hexplates as well. I would just use 1 drum part, not 2.
Your wedge is pretty bad, mostly the upper one.Hmm, I don't think the DSL-S regulars would appreciate that. The Beater bars are mounted sideways on the disc, the asymmetrical design of the front skirt doesn't look aesthetically pleasing
Aesthetics and DSL Standard do not go together.
hurr the world is black and white durr
The fact that DSL-S cares more about effectiveness than aesthetics doesn't mean it doesn't care at all about the second one.
actually a very good DSL-S bot should be very cool looking... simply when you build DSL-S, you certainly don't put crap on your bot JUST because it looks good.the asymmetrical design of the front skirt doesn't look aesthetically pleasing
We don't care. In DSL-S we care more about efficiency than looks. Yes it looks bad, but the main point it that it is a very sloppy wedge.
Basically that robot would go to the custom component showcase section but oh well. Looks good though.Oh yeah... didn't think about that. Oh well.
I must warn you that it is a poor weapon, mostly because rotating weapons who are made of only 1 weapon component are poorly handled by the game engine. When you say weapon component are you referring to the single weapon motor, or the spiked clubs? I'm guessing the spiked clubs, which I used only for looks really. Anyway, I put a conventional drum on it:
poker looks decent. just being really nitpicky here, but small beater + a light ds tooth is almost entirely better than irons. is it designed to take out popups, longbow style? What do you mean by longbow style?
the flipper is cool and all, but i cant really imagine that setup being practical on an actual robot IRL.
What do you mean by longbow style?"longbow" is one of clickbeetle's stock MW rammers.
Get rid of the sheet, it looks flimsy and out of place.Done, and added to previous post.
the flipper is cool and all, but i cant really imagine that setup being practical on an actual robot IRL.>Elvis
Who gives a crap if they are "omg irl" or "omg not irl!!!1!1" ?Fair enough. Any advice for me on my DSL standard bot (it badly needs it)?
They look cool and are realistic. It's all that matters.
Gotta say, I love Warm Embrace, the bear claws complete the look nicely. :gawe:Haha, yeah, that's pretty much it :P Mostly I don't showcase the messy ones, but I thought this was a cool enough mess to show.
I like where you were going with Scrapheap Beast, but it has to be said it reminds me of MY DSL3 heavyweight endeavours; you have an idea, do it, then start adding more to it because you think it looks cool and then when you finally step back half an hour later it's just like "Wtf is this mess?" That said, it's a better looking 'mess' than the atrocities I end up with, so meh. :P
I think there pointy tips :/
it's IRL it doesn't matter if it's good or bad.I think there pointy tips :/
they are indeed, my bad
still exact same thing, both pole spikes and pointy tips are AWFUL on spinners
I like the colour scheme of the skin, it could probably look really nice if done in HD outside of RA2. I might even try that on one of my robots, thinking about it...Here it is:
Love it love it love it!! Big fan of front hinged flippers :mrgreen:I like the colour scheme of the skin, it could probably look really nice if done in HD outside of RA2. I might even try that on one of my robots, thinking about it...Here it is:
Front hinged flipper named Throwback, because I thought it looked like a series 2 or 3 robot wars bot:

Remade Gula into Gula Redux.i dont think they are bad
Ditched the perspex idea, and made it a rammer rather than a wammer. Features (badly) reskinned carrot spikes:
Alternate skins:
it looks like it is built into the chassisThat's actually why I didn't like them, but I might actually change back to the original reskin and make all the spikes the same, so it looks like a solid block with spikes at the front.
Wow!!! That looks amazing! How powerful is the flipper? Thanks!
Cool! You have an awesome style, I especially like your front hinged flipper and axebot too!Wow!!! That looks amazing! How powerful is the flipper? Thanks!
The flipper is decent, but not outstanding. Struggles to get an OOTA, but can toss alright.
Both these bots are damn beautiful, some of the best IRL builds all year imo :thumbupWoah, that's really high praise. Thanks!
Heavyweight looks pretty bad to me. Veeeeeeery fragile IRL.That's fair enough. If I was making a real robot, of course I wouldn't put the drive motors and weapon motor outside of the main chassis supported by flimsy aluminium :P
Also, can I get a shot of the LW face on?
HW looks a little messy tbh. That's also fair. It looks messier from some angles than others, I've found.
Would you be cool if I made a MW version of that LW VS? I think it'd work good as a drum.Sure, sounds cool, go for it :)
I would use flipper makers on the arm so it looks sturdier. Not bad though.I agree with you, and that's why I made this one:
Nice job, that bot is just pure gold.Literally, now that I just named the bot that. Thanks, I was struggling to think up a name!
Oh, I was actually just making a pun. You're welcome.Nice job, that bot is just pure gold.Literally, now that I just named the bot that. Thanks, I was struggling to think up a name!

Thanks to everyone else also :)
New robot using Tazbot's shell, here's Scuttlebug:

4wd, if anyone was wondering.
Sure, I'll upload the file and post a link here as well.New robot using Tazbot's shell, here's Scuttlebug:

4wd, if anyone was wondering.
Aww, it's adoreable...
I want it. Fancy sending the .bot over?
That's awesome! You should reskin the shell!Good idea, I'll give that a shot, and thanks :)
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/813Robot Arena 2 2014-09-01 23-59-48-25.jpg)That is just beautiful, mind sending me that skin?
made my green cheep toyish looking whit 2 eyes
I took Lemonism's version and added working claws! Doesn't do much, but it's so cute...Sounds cool, can I see it?
Still not using the version with working claws that I sent ya? K.Quite the opposite, actually. Yours is currently nothing more than a chassis, because I'm trying to work out new drive + snapper placements to make it a little more strictly IRL, and the reason I showed the original off here is because it was convenient.
Mind posting up the reskin of the minion wedge? Here's the skin for the minion wedge:
Ooooh very nice. Does the bar wobble at all or is the weapon motor attached to an ME?I actually expected it to wobble, but it doesn't, or not noticeably anyway. I think that might be because the skirt hinge is such a low powered burst, but I don't really know.
Very nice. Your bots never fail to impress. What more can I say?
That is just truly awesome man.
I didn't intend to make a dalek, but it just turned out that way, so whatever. What was it intended to be if that's how it came out?
It was going to be something for botm, but it didn't go to plan. It looks like I won't be able to enter botm this month, unfortunately.I didn't intend to make a dalek, but it just turned out that way, so whatever. What was it intended to be if that's how it came out?
Should've made a christmas hat for it, boom, christmas dalek. :gawe:It was going to be something for botm, but it didn't go to plan. Does the flipper have a "fake piston" of some sort underneath? It does indeed, made of flipper segments. Ideally I want to skin the taz shell with a slot as well.
Love it! Is there gonna be more of the Scuttlebug series? Most likely, yes. I'll make them when I get good enough ideas. I did make a failed attempt at a new one a while back, so I intend to remake that one sometime.
Great job with the reskinning and use of what I'm assuming are the matilda horns. Is the shell still made out of that Tazbot armour? They are indeed matilda horns, and it is still using the taz shell. I'll be using that whenever I make a new Scuttlebug robot.
I would get rid of that matilda stuff and put 3 lighting spikes on the back spaced out evenly around the back half of the chassis, but that's just my preference. Looks bretty gud otherwise.I'll give the Lightning spikes a shot and see what I think.
Best Bot SkinnerYou never let us down.
1) Lemonism
dayum
Why are you not in my bed?
dayum
Why are you not in my bed?
not sure if referring to lemonism or the robot
it looks good :D
There, fixed that showcase title lol, no seriously, this is just the purest form of WIN to exist in this universeGod-Tier? Overreaction much? ;)
so no fancy skin I'm afraid.Even without one, that bot looks badass man.
Blood Eagle is some serious swag. I really want it to do well.I have a feeling it will. It will definitely kick my ass in the first round.
Someone should make a weld edge lineMaybe I'll make one later on today when I get a chance.
I like the idea of welds. Someone should make a weld edge lineSeconded

Thirded.
Nice man. You should totally make a skinning tutorial for us so we can see how you make those awesome skins, or maybe that's just me.Thanks :)
Try editing the game detail to fix the skin glitch. Might need a reload.I went through the same process you use to get the Trov glitch to work, and it seems fine now. Thanks
Interestingly the game won't let me fire the flipper unless the spinner is up to speed. That's quite cool. Goes with the kinetic flipper thing that Warrior Clan actually has going on :)
Puppet: You're certainly a master of them. Looks cool. What exactly does the back look like? I see some sort of wedge. At the back of Puppet are two DSL3 angled panels, to help keep it stable when firing the weapon. I'm pretty sure it could do without, but they look pretty cool so I'm keeping them.
Giant Warrior: Sweet. The skin, while used in a similar fashion on what I believe your Halloween bot, is certainly eyecandy. What did you use to connect the spinner.
Indeed, which was why I was so surprised that it happened in the game.Interestingly the game won't let me fire the flipper unless the spinner is up to speed. That's quite cool. Goes with the kinetic flipper thing that Warrior Clan actually has going on :)
You need to make an AI pack or something, these things are hella cool.I second this notion.
Same. You need to make an AI pack or something, these things are hella cool.I second this notion.
I'm reminded of NFX's Taur for the flipper variant. Nice. I love how you made the nightmare teeth feather-like things. That's true now you mention it, I had TillyEwe 2 in mind
Looks dope, skin's is flawless as usual. How'd you make the wings at the side?4 nightmare teeth, as RedAce said, but to expand a bit the back 3 are on a al40 extender, with the front one on an extra multiextender coming from the middle attachment point. All the teeth use their side attachment points, so it was just a matter of rotating them into the best looking place. Also used component freedom to turn off collisions for that
