Lemonism's DSL Showcase
« on: August 10, 2013, 05:38:43 AM »
I downloaded DSL 2.1 today, and made my first bot.

And the insides:

NPC fasts, and hopefully you can see the rest.
I decided to start with this rather than anything IRL, as I believe some people have been saying that that is a better idea for a newcomer to DSL, and besides all I have built up to this point is stock, and DSL-S is much closer to stock than IRL is. I may try IRL in the future, but for now I'm sticking with DSL-S.
Keep in mind that I have no idea how batteries work in DSL, other than ant batteries being good, and also don't know what the best weapons are yet.

jesus h christ you learn fast

The only suggestion for now is to make a larger chassis to accommodate the weapon motors. It improves stability and greatly increases the armor (especially since DSL armor ratings are much better than stock's).
Clash Cubes 1 - Grey Matter (Runner-Up)
King of Karnage - Sideshow Freak (Runner-Up, Best Engineered)
Rust In Pieces - Paper Cut 3 (Grand Champion, Most Dangerous Bot)
Wheely Tag Tournament - Ion Thruster (Grand Champion, along with Ounces' DiSemboweLment)
UK vs USA - Dark Striker (Grand Champion)
Rust In Pieces 2 - Claymore (Runner-Up, Favourite Bot)
BBEANS 6 - Infection 4 (Runner-Up)
RA2 Team Championships - Serious Business, Skeksis (Runner-Up, along with Scrappy, S_M, and Badnik)
RA2 Team Championships 2 - The Other Stig (Runner-Up, along with Scrappy, S_M, Badnik, 090901, and R1885)
Replica Wars 3 - Abaddon (Runner-Up, Luckiest Bot)
BroBots - wheebot & yaybot (Runner-Up)
Robo Zone 2 - Dipper (4th place, Survival Champion, & Best Axle Bot)
ARBBC - The Covenant (3rd place, BW Rumble Winner, Most Feared BW)

Since the disks are angled down slightly I'm not entirely sure how to fit the weapon motors into the chassis and still have them angled. Any advice on this?

In that case, never mind the internal motors. You could try a shape similar to Devil's chassis (the stock one), so it wouldn't wobble around too much when a disk falls off, and would also provide a secondary wedge should the primary wedge get knocked out.

Added the chassis wedge:

It won't come into play much until the disks are off, but at least it will be more stable now. Also added a ramplate for some frontal protection.

i haven't seen a member start out with DSL S in a while, feels real refreshing.

pretty nice bot BTW, but those typhoon teeth are mostly useless and the lightning teeth just get in the way. try to get some more weapons on since that is really the only problem with jugglers.

otherwise good work so far  :thumbup  :thumbup
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

New robot: Popup/juggler thing

And insides:

Not much to say about it really, other than it's a bit boring but does decently against the DSL AI bots.

Might want to consider shrinking the chassis somewhat, and Piglets would be sufficient enough for a triple-razor hexplate leaving more weight for razors. Not only that, you should replace the aluminiums holding the Perm 80s(?) with polycarbonates to save weight. Also, skirt-hinges holding the bottom "feeder wedge" generally are insufficient, and you may consider using a metal hinge instead.

I need to do more DSL. And more stock, actually, but mostly DSL. Anyway, here are my first attempts at IRL building in DSL 3:

And here's attempt 2:

I'll try to make sure I post more bots here, both standard and IRL

Also I can never think of names for robots, so name suggestions for this one and the other two would be appreciated.
