King Mushroom's showcase
« on: July 19, 2010, 02:58:33 PM »
First things first, I am new here, so please don't bite my head off if I say something dumb!
Second, I have only had RA2 for 3 weeks and DSL TC for about 1 week, so I am not all that good.
But I decided to post my creations on here anyway.
Helpful criticism is welcome.

Firstly, my first robot, Havok...
Nothing special, only a flipper, and gets beaten... allot! =^(
(Hope this doesn't break the tables...)

Please:
Crop your pictures, we only need to see the bot not the rest of the screen
Show us an inside view of the bot as well
Give us the weight
Give us the armor.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

NPC fasts would be a better choice... And ant batteries.

OK:
1. Build to the weight limit, this could be trimmed down to a Middleweight
2. DO NOT use E-Teks as drive, for this you could use NPC's.
3. Titanium 5 is way overkill on this, use Titanium 3 or Plastic 5.

Good use of chassis space though, that isn't something we see in all newbies.

And Hydro, this doesn't need ant batteries, BattlePacks are better for burst motors (IIRC)

Ants?
would they provide enough power?

EDIT: Thanks for all the advice, but this isn't my latest bot.

Well for spin motors, yes. For your bot, no.

And for future reference, 1 ant = 1 spin motor.

Wrong. Depending on the burst, just use a set number of ants. Altogether, that bot would need 6 or 7 ants depending on what sixe JX that is.

Some thoughts:

*Those E-Tek's aren't meant for driving; they're meant for weaponry. There are E-Tek Drive versions in the game. However, in your case, you can easily downgrade to NPC Fasts and add on Hypno or Techno wheels.
*It may be an overkill for battery power. Then again, I'm not exactly certain how much power you need to use a flipper with a Large JX Burst. The others know and know well... at least the vets do.
*The oddly shaped chassis probably isn't doing many favors, since it would seem that your opponents would just glance off the front and attack you with no fear of getting flipped.
*Also, shrink the chassis. Having a smaller target for your opponent to hit is always a good thing. One of the big things these guys taught me to do is to take the height scale and click at the very bottom of the scale (not dragging it). That will lower your chassis a fairly good amount, saving you weight in the process.

All told, the robot looks like it could be a somewhat effective middleweight.

Thanks for the reply, I built this robot when I got DSL, so I didn't know about the E-Teks

Also, the chassis shape is very affective actually, for the pointed front get
underneath the opponent and when they glance off they often hit the part for the
wheels and flip.

This is the second version of the Havok design, Havok 2
This one has two Razor tips on storm pistons so it isn't defenceless and a tilted rear end
so if up-ended, it rights itself.

That's too slow and overpowered. You need at least NPC Fast/Hypno for that, drive wise, peobably 4wd of that or 2wd NPC fast/Techno. Only needs 6/7 ant batteries depending on size of the JX motor.

Havok 2 is surprisingly quick, and the flip-up is quite affective.
But, in my opinion, the yesterday-built Havok 3 tops all.
And here it is...

Yes, I know it is over-powered! I like batteries! But it has NPC Fasts and a powerful flip-up.

Nice skin.

I would get rid of the side hammmers in exchange for something else.

They need to be there, there the side srimech!
I just put razor strips on them to make the weapons.
Originally, where the two big batteries are, there was a vertical saw blade.
That's why the back is shaped weirdly!

 :welcome

Way overpowered, this needs 12 ants, 6 for the JX large, 2 for the drive & 2 for each mag snapper
Replace the mag snappers with bsg's (they are just as powerful but lighter), bsg's also need only 2 ants each

Good space management though ;D

I had no idea that ants produced enough juice, I thought the bigger batteries were better.
I also hate disused space, so I fill it up with Battlepacks!

Instead of doing that, just re-make the chasis so that it is smaller
