Here we go...
Aluminum 1mm armor (prbly should up this a little)
1 20x120 DSL bar
2 DSL 4 Hammers
3 Battlepacks
It's okay, I guess. Little tough to drive, probably because it's a bit unbalanced.
More soon
-
Let's see what you can do here.
Build to the weight limit
Bad armor choice, use titanium.
E-tek drives are for drive only, use a dual perm.
Underpowered. 5 ants would work.
Use Techno wheels
Lighten the extender work.
Realism fail, put the weapon farther out.
Try using axle wedges or a Destroyer type system.
Someone esle finish for me.
-
If you haven't done it already, you should go and check other' showcases for ideas and advice.
-
don't worry Nary, I have been checking out other showcases.
Here's an update of my bot
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/55723Infallable_3.png)
3mm plastic
dual perm
techno wheels
5 ant batts
a bit more realistic
EDIT: @Triton: What do you mean by a "Destroyer type system"?
-
Much better (and much more of a Destroyer ripoff :P)
Does your weapon passes through the ant batts? If yes, unrealistic. If no then it's fine.
-
https://gametechmods.com/RA2wiki/index.php?title=Destroyer (https://gametechmods.com/RA2wiki/index.php?title=Destroyer)
-
Wow! Almost the same bot! How did I do that? I didn't even see that picture until now. Guess I gotta be a bit more original. :P
@Nary: Yes. It's realistic. The weapon doesn't pass through batts
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/72077Infallable_vs_Grisly_Bear.png)
recent battle.
-
This time, shrink the chassis and upgrade the armor/add external armor.
-
that is a great improvment between those 2 robots
keep working at it, keep improving and then enter CC3 :P
-
funny thing. I just made the chassis cube shaped! Pwn told me to shrink the chassis, so, I did.
other important changes include those 60cm side panels in the back and the armor which is now 10mm steel
Btw, it's still realistic.
i'll see if i can make it a MW for CC3. i'm gonna have to scale it down a bit though.
-
Good job. 10mm steel is kinda overkill, though. Probably 10mm plastic or 5mm tite would do. You can probably add another ant and some more side supports with the remaining weight. :D
-
120 cm skirts are not very good for stabilizer since 120 cm tends to be too short. Being able to turn quickly or drive forward without tipping over is a very important part of Vertical Spinners. Try using DSL Bar or overkill blade.
-
the only reason i picked the skirts over DSL Bars was because of mostly the difference in durability (hitpoints). but, okay. i'll look into fixing that and adding more supports.
-
You could attach 120cm skirts to DSL bars. That way you won't need to sacrifice HPs for the stabilizers. :D
-
Well, could just be me, but I barely got enough stability out of a 40 cm angle skirt on top of a 200x20 dsl bar. You are right though DSL bar does have less HP per kg. There's also angled side panel to consider, they can reach 80 cm for only 7 kg and come with 2800 hp.
I personally like dsl bar on 40 skirt more than 120, because you are shifting more HP to dsl bar without losing anything on the skirt.
Right, speaking of that, the "destroyer" bot is part of the NAR AI 1.1. If you are interested you can find it here
https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,1786.0.html
Be sure to backup your existing DSL before applying this patch, just in case you want to convert back, or for any technical reasons.
-
Okay. Having taken all of that advice into consideration, I came up with this
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/90139Infallable_5.png)
Important updates:
*10mm plastic armor
*doubled up the rear plates
*added a plate to the extender holding the dual perm
*added castor armor
*DSL bars on flipper segments for stability
-
I like the 6-legged look. XD
You could probably add 3 more shell panels somewhere else with the remaining weight. :D
-
Looks good.
Maybe you can cover your chassis a bit more, mostly the front You might also want to consider changing the steel extender connecting the wheels to dsl bar. I mean you got double side panel to protect it and the way I see it, the flipper segment is more likely to break than the bar.
-
...especially since you have weight left and that DSL bars are better than steel extenders in HP/kg ratio.
It looks pretty good though.
-
time for some free complements :P
- how much you improved is really good
- your a quick learner
- your a good at following advice others give
- you made a robot with a unique look to it
you could use the top attachment points of shell panels to put on the front DSL bars
-
this is what I have now. my computer had a minor setback and I forgot to save my bot before it half died on me. -.- I had to rebuild the whole bot. Didn't really take that long though.
it's all good now.
EDIT: Btw, everybody, thanks for all the constructive criticism and compliments. :)
-
Oh yeah, I kinda forgot. Your weapon bar should be a notch longer so it's closer to the ground and can dish out bigger hits. You'll probably get the weight from the ant saw and the 3 shell panels. :D
-
Ant saw = absolutely worthless.
-
Ant saw = absolutely worthless.
Idk. It looked cool, but yes it's quite worthless. taking it off the robot...now.

If I do that, I don't think it'll be realistic b/c the hammer would be going through a batt.
-
Ah... I see. Try this - instead of stacking them on top of each other, place them side by side. It should fit.
-
Nope. Didn't work. The hammer is going straight through the middle of the chassis.
-
Awww...
Wait - how far is the weapon from the ground?
-
About the length of a 20cm extender from the ground to the lowest point of one of the hammers. I've been destroying almost all of the DSL HWs with it at that height even though I'd like to extend the weapon a little.
-
Alright. Try NAR AI now.
-
Alright. Try NAR AI now.
Just downloaded it.
-
Okay. NAR AI is tough. I can honestly say that. Gotta remodel my bot, a little...or make a different one.
-
NAR AI's first purpose is to be tough, that is why i like to call it the Starcore of DSL.
-
Lol, and there's also NAR AI v2 coming up on the 10th, and we can be sure that the bots there will be even stronger.
-
Most of my new bots aren't especially really strong... but some of the new builder teams...
-
AKA not mine.
-
Or mine.
-
New bot. it's a MW.
3mm titanium
7 ants
It fails as far as I'm concerned. Any way to improve it?
-
How does it fail? Flip forward?
-
No. A titanium half sheet stops it from flipping forward. It's just weak, i think.
-
Well, you don't have enough leverage. Try moving where it attaches back and see if that helps.
-
That helped a lot. Thanks! It can OOTA most middleweights.
-
If you make the best of the spare weight, you might even be able to OOTA HW's too. Look at Urjak's Vertical Impulse.
-
Most of my new bots aren't especially really strong... but some of the new builder teams...
Not mine either...
-

*Looks away*
-
^^ :P
Anyways it does have potential, but you need a double wedge for this to work out, or simply put these bursts at mnimum height so the wedge's angle is lower => better.
-
it's been a long time since I posted here, so here's a new bot up for criticism. ;)
5 ants
3mm plastic :/
-
2 axes on a HW? 4 Drive E-Teks on a HW VS? O_O
Anyway, it's kinda overkill. 2WD NPCF drive would be enough IMO. With the remaining weight you could use sledges.
-
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/39810Hardly_Phased_2.5.png)
DSL 1 hammers
down to 3 ants
5mm steel (could be overkill...)
-
5mm Steel's enough. Also, remove the Technos on free axles and place your NPCFs there instead. And instead of using heavy extenders for the plows, use flipper segments instead (and you can probably add some static weapons there as well). For the weapons, it's unrealistic because the left bar cuts through the motor belt. You can solve that by using an armored disc (and if you have enough weight, you can upgrade the hammers or add some more weapons onto the disc). Oh yeah, find a way to protect the motor. A metal sheet would probably do the job. :D
-
You forgot to tell him it was underpowered :P
Your plows aren't protecting much here as well. I think it would be wiser to move them forward.
-
This is what I have now. Comments?
-
For some reason it reminds me of Sorrow's RAW 1 entry.
Cutting and ripping teeth have normals hence deal fewer damage, avoid them for now.
These cutting teeth on the side extender work aren't doing much as well...
-
Good Improvement, especially from the first robot.
One thing I might add, remove the teeth on the wheel protection extender, and use the wieght to put some more weapons on your spinner. They aren't really doing much where they are.
Perhaps weapons with non-normals on the spinner too? Sledges come to mind with only two sledges and by removing the teeth, you should be aple to put some rather heavy weaponry on their.
Edit: Oh look nary beat me to it...
-
For some reason it reminds me of Sorrow's RAW 1 entry.
How does that remind you of Lu-Tze?
-
4WD NPC Techno drive VS with a perm for weapon.
-
60 kg sledges
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/38623Hardly_Phased_3.1.png)
-
Use a bar instead of the disc.
-
^^I had a feeling that someone would say that
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/27089Hardly_Phased_3.2.png)
-
Why are you are wasting 70kg with 4 wheels when you have only 2WD ? Technos are meaningless if they're not on a drive motor.
-
Fixed.
-
New bot called Awesomesauce.
-
Rule of thumb: "if the extenders are attached to things that protect the extenders... you generally don't need to make them strong."
I, personally would swap out all those extenders for poly ones and save some weight. They don't look like the will take much for punishment with that setup. I really like how that bot looks. Even though 2wd bots seem to rule the world these days... I like how that one is designed. I bet it is a blast to use in the combat arena.
-
yeah it's a lot of fun to drive! :) it's easy to drive, too. it tends to get flipped often however.
-
those wide ram plates suck due to an error in the .txt file, use longer DSL bars instead.
-
^^If he uses NAR AI v2.2 ramplates doesn't suck anymore.
Stronger 2WD is better than weaker 4WD generally.
Just get 2WD NPCF with Hypnos and you will then not only have a smaller bot but a lighter one as well, that will reduce extender work hence having more weight, that you could put to good use for more armor/batteries/stronger motor/weapons. Your choice really.
-
Really, they are fixed!? hmm, I dunno I have just spent so long avoiding them like the plague
-
Still it's NAR AI v2.2... and most tournaments are DSL2.1, where they suck :P
-
Still it's NAR AI v2.2... and most tournaments are DSL2.1, where they suck :P
Thats why i dont wanna download the Nar AI components...
Its pretty much DSL with a few new things & It really isnt used in tourneys :\
I also dont wanna have like 5 copies of RA2 xP
So, I have DSL Normal, DSL With NAR AI (Only the AI) and soon Backslash ;D
-
Sad news to report.
I have lost all of my DSL bots when I updated NAR AI.
I will now remake them all...

You could still use the NAR full pack, just when building a robot for a tournament don't use the changed NAR components, or the colored bits and pieces.

New bot called The Hysteria Effect (named for the sound it makes when it spins)
5 ants
steel 10 (could lower this for more weapons)
-
you could swap two NPC's for a etek drive
-
Remove robot X casters and use Technos.
Oh and NPC Fast is much better weight-wise than E-Teks, so he can keep them.
-
About Infallable:
Love it, i had a bot entered in XBW called freek that was a lot like this!
i'd make a small one of this bot, it would be cool, just a hint :)
check out my showcase, it's a new one, i just started f-b-s robots so you could hint me
Ty ;)
-
I think I've been bitten by the "VS bug" :P
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/71650Last_Resort.png)
let's just say this could be better...I'd like to keep it MW though.
-
Hmm... Never thought of using discs like that. Motors are exposed.
-
NICE.
-
It's been too long since my last post. Here's a new bot that I'd like to keep a Beetleweight.
3mm Titanium
Exposed rear is a weakness as well as weapons (b/c they have normals)
-
Hypno, don't use piglets as Drive motors. I would use Astros with Mini wheels... Otherwise good looking bot. ;)
-
H...Hypno? You're back! *Hugs hypno tightly*
Anyways, yeah, use Slimbodies or Astros, and make the spinning disc larger.
-

I take it that you're happy to see me. lol :P
and fixed...
gonna work on bigger disc now.
-
You don't need the flipper extender or back stabilizer ,and that needs 3 ants, not 2.
-
He needs the flipper extender to keep it realistic
That said, do try and get that half sheet on the other way roud so it covers more of the chassis.
The bigger disks not that important, but you could do with better weaponry than that, perhaps large DS teeth (I can't remember how much those cutting teeth weigh though, so you may have to use razorz instead).
-
He needs the flipper extender to keep it realistic Yep.
That said, do try and get that half sheet on the other way roud so it covers more of the chassis. Okay, but I'm actually using it as a stabilizer.
The bigger disks not that important, but you could do with better weaponry than that, perhaps large DS teeth (I can't remember how much those cutting teeth weigh though, so you may have to use razorz instead). I'd rather not use stock in DSL.
-
By not use the flipper extender, i meant use polycarb or carbon, and by bigger disc, i meant a 100cm with beaters on or a hex with light DSL's or razors on.
-
Don't see why you'd need a stabilser like that on a HS.
Stock in DSL? I never said anything about using stock in DSL.
And fotepx, he may aswell use a flipper segment, it's got a lot more hp and there's still the chance that that's gonna get hit, plus it's not that much heavier.
And actually, i'd recomend a hex plate instead.
-
By not use the flipper extender, i meant use polycarb or carbon, and by bigger disc, i meant a 100cm with beaters on or a hex with light DSL's or razors on.
Flipper segs better, 800 more hp for 1 extra KG? Bargain.
100cm disc? On a BW HS? What you smokin'?
Hex with razors would work, yes. Oh, razors are standard DSL components too, so don't worry about them. :P
With the hex and razors you would have an extra 4/5/6 kilos (can't remember how much hexes weigh..im thinking 4, but..) to do what you want with. Maybe another ant. What wheels are those?
-
Don't use weapons with normals
-
use a hex plate.
if its a bw, then build it so it is a bw, not 175.1 :)
-
okay then
(https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/62537Grumpy_3.png)
-
lol, there's been a confusion (I blame fotepx, because I can).
We meant use the hex plate for the weaponry, and attatch razorz on to the hexplates sides.
The flipper segment for holding the weapon motor was perfectly fine.
-
For what you did with the hexes holding on the motor, I would go back to the flipper segment for weight for more armor (unless there is a reason behind it)
-
gahhhhh. yay for me being dumb.
