For those who aren't in the Orc's Wars Discord, last weekend there was a Parsec tourney where you had one hour to build a replica of a given RW competitor, and then they all duked it out. I was given Behemoth, and ended up with this:

beermoth.png

It wasn't that good, as the lifting plough was too heavy, but I thought, "Hey, that's a pretty cool shape, I could do somethin with that". And for those who aren't in the Banter Wars Discordwe really need that centralised tournament hub from the "what to do with GTM" discussion, it was announced yesterday that BW 3.5 is going to be a DSL tourney. So I rebuilt an old experiment from late 2017, using Beermoth's shape as inspiration, and behold:

Challenger 2.png

It's underweight and practically weaponless but it's suitably "banterous" and I love it tbh

Another Nanoha-themed bot (that I should have finished weeks ago, RIP my productivity). Fast, compact, and hopefully distinct enough from my existing hammerbots.

Graf Eisen.png

Fun fact: I wanted to put a flamethrower inside the hammer, but mounted backwards, so it looked like it was rocket-propelled. Sadly it wouldn't fit :(

Another build that took way too long, but finally, here is the upgraded Absolute Zero: a tanky vert with a heart of ice.

I'm sure I could've spent the final 60kg on something other than covering the sides in steel wedgelets, but hey, it looks cool, right?

Finally back building stuff in RA2 again. Here's a possible Deathmatch 4 entry.

EDIT: I significantly refined this after feedback from the Robotics Tournament Server (i.e. the old OW Discord). If you want to see the original "long boi" version, click the spoiler tag below.

Made a LW for Billy's tourney and then forgot to showcase it, whoops. Here's Disquiet, a total rebuild of a bot from about 2 1/2 years ago.

A couple of weeks ago I had a mad idea, and I finally got round to finishing it:

Blast Furnace.png

The idea was to make a flamethrower bot with some actual KO potential, and so I combined the flames with a dustpan saw blade. I have no idea how the hell you would AI this thing, but it's different, and I think it came out looking pretty nice.

A while back, I made an extremely flat LW rammer named Knuckle Sandwich. The idea was to counter overheads by just being too low for them to hit. I decided to see if the concept translated to MW level - and while I'm at it, why not make two and turn them into a HW cluster?

Strawberry & Cream.png

I don't think the experiment worked, tbh. They're too slow to build up decent ramming power, and too under-weaponed to actually be viable as a HW cluster... plus you don't see many overheads at HW level anyway. Hmm. Well, at least it's something different.

After Octane's performance in Mech Madness 2, I decided to finally get round to updating it. What started as a simple round of upgrades eventually turned into an almost-total rebuild that took me three solid hours, but finally, here it is:

Octane B-Spec.png

It has a completely new chassis, is now invertible, has enough battery to actually last three minutes, I've redesigned the front wedge, strengthened the weapon supports... I'm really happy with this thing now. This is what Octane should've been from the start.

All rise for His Royal Crab-jesty. Returning for OW4 with hinge-mounted claws, more durable wheels, and a slightly more compact chassis.

King Crab II.png

(Technically it's "King Crab II", but it's pronounced "King Crab the Second", like an actual monarch. I hope that's not confusing.)

Thanks fam  heck

I need to stop building 4WD box-wedges and try out some more interesting designs, but in the meantime, here's a 4WD box-wedge.

Midnight Wish.png

It's not the strongest or wedgiest flipper ever made, but it gets the job done. Probably my new favourite out of all my flippers. Oh, and it has a fake piston:

While Paralyzer is an effective "brick", I felt like it was a little boring to look at, so I made this. Hopefully it has a bit more flavour and character to it.

LadyKiller.png

I feel like I'm getting better at thinking up designs that translate well into RA2. This, the new Octane, and Midnight Wish all came out looking pretty much exactly as I envisioned them.

Holy wow, has it really been three whole months since I finished a new build? My new job is taking up even more of my time than I thought  :dead:

Anyway, here's a compacted version of Bardiche, my vertical bar spinner. It now has improved battery life, improved self-righting, longer wedgelets, and a slightly altered colour scheme to better match the character it's based on.

Bardiche ZF.png

This completes my Arena Champions 2 lineup: it'll be joining its sister bot Graf Eisen, the champion Octane B-Spec, and LadyKiller.

I didn't realise how spammy the original Tearaway's drum actually was... but stripping it back to the new beater limit for DM5 gave me enough weight to strengthen some of the armour and increase the drive to NPC fasts (I thought it already had them but they were just regular NPCs!). It's also a little more compact than before.

I don't expect it to defend its title, but I didn't expect it to win last time, and it did, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tearaway Mk2.png

Planning to update Fire Ant and throw that in too, so I've got a "red bot with a weird weapon" like I did for DM2 and DM3.

And here it is:

Fire Ant V2.png

The main improvement is a change of wheels, from small Colsons to Hypnos, giving it lower ground clearance and a lot more grip. I've made a couple of other minor tweaks, but I think it was pretty optimal already.
