CW spicy boi for Bild's nature tourney.

Fire Ant.png

The pincers are attached to Slow Mag Snappers, so it bites as well. Honestly, of all the bots I've come out with recently, this is one of my favourites. Shame I couldn't get a decent picture for the splash!

QUICK EDIT: Just remembered that Bild's tourney uses DSL 2.3, not 2.2CE, so I'm gonna have to download 2.3, port Fire Ant over, and hope it doesn't break anything :dumb)

For Inktober, I've gone a bit crazy and decided to try and build a new robot every day, following the Inktober themes. At Hoppin's suggestion, I'm calling it "Botober". Day 1's theme is "Poisonous", so here's a MW flamethrower inspired by my old robot Venom:

Day 1 - Nerve Agent (Poisonous).png

I'm reluctant to post all 31 robots here as I go, in case I clog up my showcase with double-posts, or stop halfway through and look like an idiot, or something. Just wanted to highlight that I'm trying a thing.

Botober's a neat little idea. Don't mind me, just going to steal it a little.

Also, Nerve Agent is a pretty cool design

Day 2's theme is "Tranquil", and I spent most of the day racking my brains about how to make a robot out of that. Eventually I just resorted to a ring spinner with a pretty picture of some cherry blossoms on it. Nothing says tranquil like cherry blossoms, especially when they're surrounded by Typhoon teeth mounted on a 6-Mag spinner.

Day 2 - Sakura (Tranquil).png

Day 3's theme is "Roasted", and I already did a flamethrower yesterday... welp :dumb)

Solution: build a flaming hammer.

Day 3 - Espresso Machine (Roasted).png

The name may or may not have been inspired by the coffee machine in my office, and the skin is a total rush job because I was running out of time, but I'm still pretty happy with this. I'm getting to try out new ideas, and that's always a good thing.

A bit off topic, but should we start a prompt turned into bot building stuff, and building challenges, like making a rep, but with a twist to it?

Also, cool bot, F1

That's the aim! There's a couple of days where I'll be busy with work commitments and might not have the time, so I might have to double up on some days to make up for it. I'm already surprised at how much traction and attention this is getting.

Sounds a bit like what the old BOTM used to be like. Would certainly be interesting.

Day 4's theme is "Spell". I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy V recently but still struggled to think of a spell that translated well into a combat robot (and that wasn't Fire). Then I remembered a certain Blue Magic ability...

Day 4 - Thousand Needles (Spell).png

It's simple, but it works.

I like what you did for the bot's front, but it's still a very simple bot. At least you managed to fit the theme.

I didn't get to finish yesterday's Botober robot because migraines, but I finished it off earlier today and now I've build today's robot as well.

So first off, Day 5's theme was "Chicken". There was only one logical thing to do: build a (sort of) Robochicken replica. He protecc, he attacc, but most importantly, he clucc.

Day 5 - Cluck (Chicken).png

Day 6's theme was "Drooling". Again, the only thing to do was to make a robot with a giant clamping jaw (pictured here with said jaw closed).

Day 6 - Gluttony (Drooling).png

Neither of them are even remotely combat-effective, and I'm not sure Gluttony even looks that good because I've never built a jaw robot like this before and it's horribly messy, but at least they're both more unique and interesting than Thousand Needles was :P

Day 7's theme was "Exhausted". So I decided to build the one type of robot (apart from Flatmotor BW overheads) that everyone's exhausted of seeing: the good ol' Tombvore.

Bonus points if you get the reference.

Day 8's theme is "Star". I've wanted to make a Nightmare-style VS for a while, so I took the opportunity. Had to do the splash image slightly differently as a result.

Day 8 - Solar Flare (Star).png

Sadly it doesn't actually work properly, it constantly pulls to the left and ends up spinning in circles. It's not as clean-looking as it could be, either, I ran out of time and weight to make the extenderwork look better (though maybe I should drop some of it down from Steel to Ti...)

Looks pretty neat, although how exposed the drive motors are does irk me somewhat. In terms of your turning issue try rotating the wheels before you attach them to the axle. Normally fixes that kind of thing.

Yeah, same. I'll try fixing the wheels, thanks for the suggestion.

Anyway, on to Day 9! The theme was "Precious", so of course it had to be a precious gemstone:

Day 9 - Amethyst (Precious).png

It was a real challenge fitting this inside the LW limit, and it's only got 2 black batts so it probably won't last too long. It takes after my BW Obsidian in that it's designed to counter overheads, by charging them around the arena while whacking away with the axe until (hopefully) the bar falls off. I think a lot of my Botober robots are going to need some visual polish come November.
