Title: CPA23's Showcase - All Help Appreciated.
Post by: CPA23 on January 28, 2011, 07:20:50 PM
Hi, Been playing Ra2 for 2-3 Years, DSL for about 1-2, but rarely play stock anymore.

Anyway I have a couple of half-decent bots, but any advice would be helpful.

Hey CPA.

This isn't half bad, I can't see anything bad with it except to use metal hinge wedges for your bottom wedges instead of skirt hinge wedges.

Schweeeeet.

Does the PA skirt hinder it from its invertibility?

Wouldn't the flipper component hinder invertibility more?

I've always though that the grannies' grip meshes is larger than they're supposed to be (still not sure if it's invertible even without the skirt). And the PA skirt's sticking out further than the flipper. :P

The PA skirt doesn't hinder invertablity and aids self-righting, although it is a little uncontrollable when inverted.

Yeah, looks good, although I don't see why youd want that bot to be invertable, yous should want it to just self right as fast as possible surely?

Try using small wedges and dsl bars for the wedges if you canfind the weight. Really good start though CPA.

Longer middle wedge (use a 120), use angle skirts for the 2 sides.  Stick the metal hinge as far out as possible (parts directly connected to chassis are indestructible).

Hey Guys, sorry I haven't posted more bots but my DSL crashed and I lost all my bots. (They were all crap apart from Canis, which I am rebuilding)

Meanwhile some new bots:

On Wonderman, you are going to want to widen the hammers a bit and angle them inwards to trap bots. Use the extra weight to make your chassis larger (Larger chassis = More HP anyways) and use the right flippermakers to angle them in.

Doesn't he need 3-4 ants on both of them?

Have added the extra battery on Smokescreen and changed Wonderman's hammer setup but cannot find room or weight for an extra battery.

Any Suggestions

Well... for the weight issue you could replace the flipper segments with carbon fiber extenders.  It's not like they're going to get hit very often.

For size... either the chassis will have to be slightly bigger, or if you have 1 kg, you could use the smaller control board.

Gave up on Wonderman and Smokecreen, just couldn't make them worthwhile.

Anyway, I have been playing far too much Ra2 recently (Nar AI especially) and have actually made a pretty good team:

Will post individual bots soon.
