cephalopod ~ dsl stuff
« on: April 06, 2009, 01:56:47 PM »
Okay. Got this game few weeks back and quickly got bored of stock, so got DSL.

Here's what I came up with after a week or so.

Stealth Destroyer II

Super Heavyweight (that weight needs to come down :P)
10mm Plastic Armor
12 Battlepacks
4 NPC-T64's (fast for both sides) with Shiny hub caps
Dual-Perm motor, 150 cm disc, 2 60kg hammers, 2 hypno-teeth, 2 spike strips

AND IT STAYS STABLE. yay. Works well as a flipper-disc-thing.

it's not heavyweight, it's super heavyweight... well it's actually over the weight of the to be super heavyweight class which will have a 1200 limit.

I think it's a SHW prepared for DSL3.
Put this onto your signature if you were part of this crappy fad in '03.

Yeah I gotta get the weight down for DSL3, but that's what I was aiming for. I think some of the battlepacks could come out, and maybe the armour could be changed to something more efficient.

There's a LOT of empty space. Try to make a smaller chassis, and 12 battlepacks on this = overkill. You'd be fine with 8 battlepacks.

And technically it's a SHW (over 800 kgs), even over the DSL 3.0 official SHW class (1200 kg).

EDIT: Don't worry about the armour. Plastic is one of the best platings you can have.

Use the orange batteries or the tall black ones.

EDIT: Also hubs are not as good in DSL as they are in stock. Try using a better wheel choice for more grip.

I'm having some troubles making the chassis smaller, if i make it smaller (and even make the disc smaller etc) it has tendencies to flip itself and throw itself around.

So what I've done, is replaced all the battlepacks with 3 big tall black ones, changed the spike strips for 2 20x40 dsl bars (not as effective, but never mind) and it got my weight down to 1193.9kg. How lucky, lol.

It might be worth trying to make it shorter instead of smaller to reduce the wasted weight while keeping a lot of the stability the wide footprint adds.

Okay, while working on the new SD, I made a new Middleweight - 'Spinblade'.

You can see everything in this from the screenshot.
Armour- 5mm Plastic.
And yes, I know I could make this smaller, just, with the huge motors, I wasn't sure how big to extend it to fit everything in.

Yes, that is a gigantic chassis for a MW.

You just attach the drive E-teks externally with multi-extenders like InfiniteInertia's Haymaker, or you just go NPC Fasts with Techno Destructo wheels on it (the second one being my favorite).

Also browse the other DSL showcases, you'll find ideas an a lot of advice on them and you'll get good quickly!

Using the small control board is pointless when you can fit the big one easily.

Okay, this is a huge improvement. You would be betterr off with a more grippier set of wheels, and I don't know if you really need that castor on your weapon.

All in all, not a bad bot.
Any comments would be appreciated. :D
