So I've bee on the forums for 2 months now, and I've seen a lot of showcases, from the good to the bad. now I want to add to the "Good" bot selection with my bots.

First up is Bots Like This, a Lw Juggler.

get rid of the angle extenders on red reaper 2.
and on mini moo angle the beater bas 1 notch down or put 1 below the other.

A lot of these bots are overpowered, and aluminum isn't really the best choice for armor.  Some of them could use better drive as well.  Other than that, they all look decent.

Umm... You're fighting stock bots with a DSL bot????

Minimoo: Weapon seems to go trough the wheels, try to set it higher so that it doesnt.

Evelator: Wasted space. If I remember correctly you dont need to thave that high chassis to attach that motor, the top area oes trough the chassis like extenders. It only needs to be tall enough for the motor you see inside the white supports.

Bots Like This - If you can, try using a TWM drive motors, you may have to take some batts out.

Dizzy Dragon - Use a blue control board. Also, don't you think vlad spikes are kind of heavy for a LW?

Elevator - 13 batts? That's way over powered drop down to at least 7 or 6, and use NPC's, you'll have the weight.

Fear Ripper - Take out the ant batt and 2 reds, then try using irons if you can. Don't use stock parts in DSL.

Helicopter - Take out 3 batts.

Mini Moo - Raise the blade so it doesn't go through the chassis. DSL is realism.

Red Reaper - Take out the stock control board and use multi extenders.

Zantetsuken - Same as Mini Moo.

In real life there could be a slot in the chassis, but the bar needs to be rasied so it doesn't go through the wheels.

weapons can pass thruthe chassis, but not the batteries wheels or motors.

so mini moo will haveto be fixed but zantetsuken is ok.

and tomorrow i will post the updates to some bots and post a few new ones...

actually more battery's = More flipping power

ditch the flipper segment and the heavy skirt and get an aluminium skirt long enough to pass the chassis so that is your wedge rather then the chassis, you could shorten the chassis to do the same thing which would save you weight

you have plenty of space so there is no need for the micro control board, save a kg an go with the blue one then you should be able to upgrade to NPC's

All of your bots are overpowered, excepted Elevator that is -very- underpowered (Get PC625's and reduce the chassis size)

Also Aluminium fails as armor, Steel isn't really good (excepted 5mm steel)

ROTA - Nice name. It doesn't needs 6 ants and would most likely be better with 45 kg hammers.

Elevator - Underpowered. You need 190 amps to make this work.

Blue Blaze - It needs stronger drive. It doesn't needs more than a light plow however.

Nerf - Does this really have 6 ants ? You don't need as much anyways - you might get TWM3s as well since they have much more hitpoints than your current motors and it will improve turnspeed.

Avenger - You have the skills to build much better than that.

ROTA needs no more than 4 ant batteries (I would use 3).  That, and you can try using techno destructo wheels on it.  For SnS with only 2 side you need all the spin speed you can get to swap away popups and gutrippers.  Use a shorter dsl bar if you need the weight.

You're not the only one XD!  I'm not too big a fan of that setup anyway; it's why I think Haymaker sucks.  :P

A helpful tip to remember is that any spin motor, doesn't matter if it's a weapon or drive motor, can be powered by only 1 ant (though you might want to add a couple more).

That VS is going to take forever to spin up... more than the other bot needs to hit it :P

The FW is a ripoff (just like mine :P) of one of Pwn's beetles and probably too fast for it's own good, the overkill-on-weapons LW is BETTER than PGGB, and the FS i am not sure.

The chassis has to be a cross shape or it havoks. Alot. It does have the wheels a notch or two up for ground clearance, 2 ants, blah blah blah

Just download Stanley and fix it yourself... Oh wait you already did. Why not just look at Stanley! Oh, and Stanley also uses the smallest side panels (40 cm I think...?) for ground clearance. That might be the cause of the havoks...

NARYAR YOU HAVE TO REBALANCE THE DIABLO DRUM

and I know it's unrealistic but could be done with drive chains and the wheels don't need to be there IRL.

Might replace Danger Drill in NAR AI if Nary does the above.

Yep, it's invertible. I can't fit anymore batteries without remaking the chassis, and it's hard to hit as it is. I'll upload it onto the bot exchange if anyone wants to look at it.

Pause-test-unpause-botlab to fix the AGOD. Unfortunately, every time you try to edit the bot after this it will re-AGOD.


The UHW is neat, but it doesn't have to be a crawler. You could have some wheels down there instead.

it's an AW, the one I requested a special AI for in the AI thread. Can beat all the ants except for The Prodigy, Neutrino, Nit Picker 3 and The Spider in Your Bedroom (AKA Skull Rattler). Any ways on how to make it better?

There's a way to minimize extender weight.

Position the ME a bit to the right. Attach a flipper segment (or an angled one) with the extra AP facing upward. That's where you attach your piglet. Then attach a sideways poly extender on the front of the segment and you attach your skirt to that extender.

Thanks, it now has a Hex plate with razors, but they don't fit as snug as the chewblade or DSL bar.

seems a little steep to get under it

IMO due to the large skirts Jonzu's robot would get underneath it if it attacked straight on in the middle (aka box rush) but would have to gut rip fast because the spinning weapon of Badnik's will rip up the top

really there is a much easier way to settle this by actually playing the game with the 2 :P

Have yet to test Flaze III against Scyther, but I made this:

4 ants and a mini control board are all that's in the chassis. Steel 10. It was originally 1900 or something, but then I went crazy with the steel skirts...

And it has 8 (8!!!) 70 KG hammers in the back for ballast.

And the reason I used cobra wheels?
1. They look cool IMO
2. The point of this bot was to make something like those old freak bots back in the day
3. Everything else was originally too grippy.

So there you go. My coolest bot ever IMO.

40cm's leave too much chassis exposed so that an undercutter could get under there and KO it, and 50cm's were too tall so I angled 50cm's. Makes it look cooler too IMO.

Nightmare doesn't needs massive BALLASTS (yeah, because that's what these hammers are) on it's rear.

I am disappointed really. And yes, Joey is right. Better drive placement will remove the need for BALLAST.

No on the NPC Fast. I would recommended downgrading to astroflights and using Melty Brain AI. But staing with slims is probably fine (again, Melty Brain AI though).  I would keep at least some of the flails for better wedge destruction.

Ooh, me like. =D What I might do, is take the two sides with the flails at the top, and put the flails at the bottom, facing downwards, a bit like Restful Princess 2, to make it better at dealing with wedges. Keep the drivetrain as is, though.

4 Realistic DSL MW's

Upper Left: This is the famed Echo Breaker. Pretty effective, but the end bars (there are 2 40cm's on the end to make it longer) break off a lot and make it unstable.
Bottom Left: A flipper named Spaz Beetle. Cool armor arrangements but the flipper (small JX can't flip anything. The Taz weapon's wonky mesh is annoying too (only the front bit has collision).
Upper Right: An updated Exiled Samurai. 2 259 discs each powered by a TWM3R. Flips over too easily for my liking.
Bottom Right: A UFO-shaped bot named Roswell (after the UFO incident there). Very damaging (Brought Complete Control from the edge of green to a KO in one hit) and even when missing one or two spikes is very stable. Will probably be my BBs2 entry.

Comments? Criticism? Cake?

I found out the Small JX's inability to flip with Taur 2. To my cost in my Challenge board match. But it looked cool. =D

cuz I only have weight to put one 5kg weapon on each panel

and I need the wedge otherwise the bot becomes an unstable mess

BB3 entry, Tracer Bullet. 392.something, slim drive, Tite 3, 4 ants, metal hinge wedges. It can get under the red toolbox in the practice arena and can beat Ripblade 2. Only quirk is it's not invertible, but it didn't flip itself in testing at all.

You could have put your ramming spikes and TI sheet on a skirt hinge and made the AI fire it when it's upside down so you could have some invertability. Alternately you could use DSL1 wheels, and that might give a better look to the bot.

Yeah, that exposed motor+unsupported axle really hinted at IRL. I know sometimes I don't support the axles of my Perms in IRL designs but it would look so much cooler. Secondly, those wheels don't particularly go well with the whole theme.
So it 's not bad, just not quite there in any part.

I think the wheels and painjob give it a bit of an army theme. I would try and get some fake supports for the Perm axle, personally. It would look much better, in my view.

They're stone walls. Very high HP for a sawblade, but barely any damage. Go look at their piercing and concussion values. Sawblades work better as glass cannons (like standard saws) anyway.

I should try chewblades more though. Only time when i tried it was for a DSL MW SFTW, and it SUCKED. HARD.

I hate to say it, but on the subject of saws, I only use Minion disks and sawblades. Just personal preference.

Anyway, bot is fairly cool. Perm looks a little dodgy, I'd use two TWRM3s for the saws.

I actually like that one even better. It looks like the Hexplates are the secondary supports for the motor axle. Spike strips look a little out of place, though, would Iron Spikes still work?

The point was just to see how a double SFTW (double the weapons, double the drive) would fare in DSL.

Also it gave me insight into chewblades. They suck because of very low damage potential.

Though I could be proven otherwise...

Yep, Sharpedo. Beaterbars on the fins to replicate its "Rough Skin" ability. The bottom jaw is on a BSG and can grab onto things somewhat successfully. 4WD NPC/Hypno because its Pokedex data says it can swim up to 75 MPH. Actually a surprisingly good flipper against Flip Test Dummy and theoretically anything with high ground clearance. My original plan was to make the side fins on burst motors so it could "jump" but it didn't work.

If you use paint, go to select all> resize> and set it to 512X512 pixels... you can get a higher resolution and more detailed picture on the robot because you have more space.

The only problem with resizing it is that RA2 doesn't like working with it. So you can't use any of the in game decals/textures while that oversized skin is applied.

Here's a ton of IRL-style bots inspired by Robot Wars:

Bot in the back with a Vlad wedge: Snapping Turtle, the wedge and spike both fire as sort of a flipper/clamp
Bar spinner in back: Roboticide. Generic but incredibly powerful.
Hypno Tooth HS in the back: Doomipede, it's a shuffler and so gets a 50 kg weight bonus
Blue robot in the back: 99, named because it weighs 99 kg (396 kg in-game). Has a poking spike and 4wd, it is invertible.
Orange bot with evil eyes: Antlion, horizontal crusher. Uses Razer snappers but doesn't do a lot of damage and is pretty slow.
Green bot with blue flames: Drift. Judge burst powers the flipper but it has a tendency to havok at exactly the wrong time.
Green VS: Poison Blade. Deadly spinner but it can't self-right.
Silver bot next to the shell spinner: Steel Cobra, that crusher I mentioned. Uses a BSG, planning to BFE it to a razer motor though.
Sheck spinner: Ricochet, does good damage but tips easily and can't self-right.
Blue sawbot with the red arrow: Cobalt, deadly saws and really fast. Nothing wrong about this one really.
Black bot with saw and warning stripes: BuzzBomb 2. You may have seen the original on the bot exchange, this one has a servo arm.
Red thwackbot: Spike Driver. Does lots of damage and is one of my favorites out of the group.
Red VS: Zilch. Nasty spinner inspired by The Alien. However it can't self-right.
Black axebot: The Assassinator. Based on Tomahawk, it has a really nasty axe.
Blue and purple wedge: Pure Force. Front-hinged flipper powered by a BSG because Judge Bursts kept havoking. Can't OOTA. At all.
Wedge bot with the spike strip: Gladiator. Fast and pushy, spike strip powered by a lifter snapper.

Try and not put them in the same place, take a screenshot, put them all in the same place on Microsoft Powerpoint, crop each of them except the bottom one to just the bot.

Actually ES3's been changed since this pic was taken, I gave it a mini wheel and replaced the medium BB for a small one. Now it's 174.0.

It's a display tournaments, using a bunch of BW's from Nar AI, and some he's made himself. They look pretty decent, popup looks kinda narrow, but it's good for a BW. SnS looks quite good, not sure about the DSL bar, though. Could be eating up a bit more weight than it should be doing.

I said I would rebuild Final Z, and I did.

The seventh robot in the Zantetsuken line, it's Final Z-One More Time! replaced the flails and re-did the TWM3R protection (I'll get a screenie of it later). Outweapons the original Final Z. Will put it into BBEANS AI and NAR AI later to see how it does against other LWs.


Plastic 3 (upgraded from Tite 1) and same innards (3 ants and a micro CB)

The Mag is attached to 2 extenders. I angled a 20cm polycarb extender under that, attached another 20cm polycarb to that and made it parallel with the Mag. Then I attached a 40cm Alu extender for extra protection and then put on the PA Skirt.

Hmm. Well, popups will get straight under it and KO the chassis. HS will swipe the weapon to one side and remove the Flipper Segments. Maybe a wedge would help in some way.

Drop the Large Beaters for Small ones. They're not going to see much action with the LDS teeth sticking on them, that'll give you the weight for a wedge, plus weight to defend the flipper segments and underside a bit better.

I decided to completely redo the weapons system and upgrade it to a dual perm. 12 razors and 12 beater bars. I believe the weapon just looks completely awesome right now and the cambered wheels I gave it are just as awesome. I forgot the weight, but it's like 790 something. NPC normal drive and tite 5 just like the original. It uses the original's internals too.

This will most likely be my TA2 entry unless I can get my flail SnS idea to stop being underweight.

I added two DS teeth where the poly skirts were on the original Punterator to fill weight, and I also AI'ed it against the latest NAR AI. It freaking owns. It defeated everything it came across except Third Sentinel in the first six teams and also won several rumbles I pit it in to test it for TA2.

I meant the DSL bars, but that's also good. Anyway, I'd figure that an SS, specifically one with hammers for weapons would knock it into spikeball mode. Again, lovin' the saw though. Do the beater bars still do some damage if it gets de-razored?

If you need to reduce the weight in order to upgrade something, then making the chassis somewhat smaller and maybe using a hollow disc instead of a solid one would be your best options. Also, for MW IRLs you don't particularly need a PERM 132. Keep it if you want, but it's a bit overkill. I've found that often times a PERM 80 works well enough with these kinds of robots.

wouldn't, for a sumo match, being heavy or using heavier things make sense?
no because youre going to be the same weight weather you use heavy components and slow drive or light components and fast drive



but since badnik has said hes not building seriously... why try to give him advice to make it preform better anyway

This is a slight rework of an older bot I made like 2 years ago named Melee Master. The only change is I completely redid the weapon system (it was originally just a huge DSL bar). It had trouble hitting a lot of stuff so I finally decided to redo it. Shamelessly cloned off of VB's latest bots. Yes that is a flatmotor powering it because that's what it had to begin with and I CBA to axle load something. 393, unknown armor, 30 kg hammers and 8 lightning spikes. If you're wondering what those red decals are you can see under the disc, they're arrows so I know what direction it's facing :3

As much as I'd love to tooth up the hexplate, I don't have weight for it.

The hammers actually extend just barely past the spikes, but yeah the flatmotor is kind of ugly there. I might just reskin it completely black.

Adding on to this; if you removed the lightning spikes (or if you really like it, lessen them) then you could add the teeth to the hexplate.

edit: After moving around the insides a little I was able to shave 1 kg off by using the blue CB and got Steel 3 :D

He would save 6kg
Anyways, drop 3 ants, add a battle pack, drop to a normal perm, then you can give it better drive/more armor.

Mostly the extender work under the mag. It uses stronger extenders on a more efficient setup, so it's stronger against popups.

The skin is ok to me, except the lettering. Needs an outline or something. Not very pleasing to the eye.

Better skin, smaller chassis.

The skin is ok to me, except the lettering. Needs an outline or something. Not very pleasing to the eye.

Like I said, I'm not very good at Paint.NET :P I'd love to outline the text if I knew how to.

I'm a noob when it comes to PDN sadly

I guess I could shrink the chassis, tbh I just wanted something that looked like T-Wrex. But it does need more armor, so yeah smaller chassis it is.

Toothy Grin. 394, Plastic 1. Aluminum 1 puts it literally .1 kg over the weight limit ;-;

this thing IS a MW Last Rites. Barely controllable and goes insane on big hits. I probably won't enter it into Powers of Three because this thing is a MASSIVE glass cannon. Then again I get two entry slots so we'll see, might be funny to watch.

I'm getting back into building guys!

Hellcopter XL. SHW, probably could have more chassis armor as it's like 80kg underweight with steel 5. The bar is static but I'm thinking about making it a little bit longer because it struggles to selfright atm. dual perm, 2x npcf/hypno drive. The shell panels only get hit by lower HS, but I'm thinking about a way  to lower the hammers without having any exposed weak parts.

Yeah it's already proven its instability in testing, that's why I'm looking for a less fragile method to lower the hammers. Any suggestions?

I've done this, it's even more killer but it's hilariously unstable, I got Aluminum 1 too.

The update's been entered into Powers of Three and probably BattleBots 9 too.

Irons don't have a side connection point I could use to get them onto the flipper. Also rule of seven keeps me from putting irons on the beaters.

I rebuilt Toothy Grin, mainly because the skype group is a bag of annoyance. Plastic 3, 398.9, internals are the same. Much smaller chassis let me get better supports on.

as long as 80% of tournaments are irl and as long as irl tournaments are like standard tournaments but with IRL bots, people will tryhard in irl.

Besides I kinda want a minimum of combat effectiveness in my irl bots. because a very cool bot who promptly loses 2 matches is immediately out, and hence it's not worth the effort since it only battles a minimum.

I honestly think instead of the robot who won, have every IRL match be judge's decision and make the bot who put on the best show advance.

Or we should change the bracket format in IRL.

Wedges on the lightweight seem kind of half-assed but you at least go balls entering a dustpan so points for that. MW is pretty good but yeah the stabilizers seem flimsy. Something thicker would probably look better, like flipper makers.

Swarf did have a full dustpan originally but it hurt it more than it helped and i wanted the weight better spent elsewhere. Maybe I'll pull a gloomy and just have the center skirt.

I'll look into flippermakers for Vantablack but like Chris said it uses extenders to really get the Lollibot feel.

Maybe the flipping wedge is too flat and not angled ? I know Guard Duty works just fine with a single beta.

holy crap the mechavore discs are powerful. Not a single robot in the DSL stock AI (with the possible exceptions of Backyard Shredder and Shogun) can take this thing out. It effing outweapons Locknut. Plastic 1, 398.8. I need to AI this and put it up against some stronger things but it's a freakin force to be reckoned with as of right now.

another middleweight, this one a take on the icewave design. i think i went overboard with the weapon motor because it's running a perm 132 which eats entirely too much weight. may downgrade to an 80 and look at getting more armor/better drive. it looks nice at least.

what i did was unwrap the mesh in rhino and then scale everything using the uv editor so i had the skin template i wanted before exporting the obj to ra2

final robot for MEGATON. based off of final destiny, used objra2 for the chassis because it's a lot easier to just do it in rhino (also i think it's bigger than the standard baseplate in one axis, and you don't get that weird concave panel thing that ra2 likes to do with more complex shapes). 4 mag weapon, slim drive, steel 3

i was bored and reading through the GTM Robot Wars thread again and it made me want to remake Evil Art Project

introducing Evil Art Project EVO. 4wd slimbody drive moves this beast at a rapid pace, and the 4-mag does a good job of spinning the ring at a decent speed. I'm going to chuck this into doot's tournament and see how it does.

5mm ti, 4wd npc normals, perm 132 weapon. isn't the best at doing damage because the perm doesn't spin fast enough for the disc to "grind" very well, but it looks cool and that's what matters

Evil Art Project Mk3

my entry for Deathmatch. I basically took the old EAP and squished it. Took a row of extenders off the ring and flattened the chassis, and that gave me enough weight for titanium 3 and a 6-mag (the last EAP had plastic 3 and a 4-mag). This thing is really nasty, looking forward to seeing how it does.

Orc Wars 2 fleet. Starting from the top and going clockwise, here they are:
*Punterator 2: Heavily re-designed from the previous version. The discs are smaller and more realistic, but also pack a hell of a punch still. A lot more stable now, too.
*Blood Red Sky: Apex-inspired overhead bar spinner. Hits hard but doesnt fight all too well overall. Still, a fun design to watch.
*Wraith: You know this guy. Came second in the New Blood comp and I'm expecting similar results from it in the actual series.
*Schadenfreude: Trimmed down from a SHW with a smaller chassis and weaker weapon motor. Works pretty well, but it's fairly inconsistent.
*Lights Out: Token shell spinner of the group. The teeth made out of beater bars give it impressive bite and damage output, but it's pretty unstable at times.
*Dark Crusader: Fast and annoying drum spinner, it doesn't do a lot of damage but it packs an impressive drivetrain.
*Unnamed & Untamed: You may recall this one appearing in my showcase a few months back with a flat blue paintjob. That's been rectified. I never did find a decent name for it so I just used the "placeholder name" I had for it and painted it to look like the monster truck with the same name.
*Super Swarf: The highly-feared dustpan saw makes the leap from LW to HW. It's fast and incredibly deadly with that saw, but the ant saws don't last long on a HW.

New middleweight. NPCF drive, titanium 3 armor, storm burst flipper. incredibly nippy and has enough grunt with the flipper to get bots over the wall in the RG arena, so i'm very happy with it.

The wedges are awful looking, if ur going for a dustpan, go for something like Sawblaze or SOB

they're fine although the generic dustpan would look better, every dustpan bot doesnt have to look like sob, even skorpios had a setup similar to yours

i don't think people give a sh** about the fact they work IRL, they just think it's ugly and so will state it, IRL is more about looks that just following realism anyway, personally i don't have much issues with it, this setup is certainly better than using skirts

it sucks but this is what i sent for deathmatch 4

595.0, alu 3. has too many batteries because it had 4wd originally and i forgot to swap them out lul

i still got it, kinda
