Title: Artyom's Average DSL Showcase
Post by: ArtyomTDO on August 27, 2014, 07:55:52 AM
Well, it's about time I started with this. I have a couple questions before I post my first bot here, which seems a tad weird for one of these threads, but I'd rather not necro random threads for answers. Basically, I'm trying to BFE the back of the chassis so it goes something like
 ___
/
\___

that. It's weird, I know, but the first robot I wanted to do was my own, to at least a semi realistic standard. I will follow your lot's advice, and work on a singular bot at a time (Bar the first, which is just for fun and practice. I will be making IRL, hopefully half decent bots.

Thanks guys, the bot will be up shortly after I find out the fix to my problem. Sorry if this chassis has been done already, with a tut, but I can't find it for the life of me.

[EDIT] Yeah, I realised that my profile picture has what I needed to do. Oh well, if you can see the back of that, that's basically what I want, if possible. I'm sure it's been done, I remember a picture with a similar in, out and back in bit.

You'll have to put an extra set of chassis points on, and when you do the top plate move the back 2 sets will be out past the back on the bottom, and the next set are above those bottom points, then lower the height of the very back points using BFE...
or you could just improvise using flppermakers which is 100 times easier.

Thanks for the advice Craaig, it was a whole lot easier than trying to maths. Even though the game crashed twice, for no apparent reason. And also I can't import skins, as that makes it crash, no matter what system I try on. Also also, I know it's terrible, but I haven't built in quite a while, and my "Skills" have become rusty. Either way, it looked a lot better when it was being built, than in does here.

'Do you want to see the bed in flames'? A bit of a random Rammstein reference...

Yeah, I am absolutely addicted to them. I just make reference wherever I can, not where I see fit. It's not often there's a burning bed for a robot, though!

I've seen worse. It's not bad.

But, flippermakers suck as wedges, use a small wedge or even a taz wedge. Also spin motors only need one ant to be fully powered. And I don't think the flipper's motor has enough power.

actually he needs more ant batteries.

a smaller chassis would be nice as well.
