Arcane Does DSL 2.2 IRL Showcase
« on: August 12, 2017, 09:30:29 AM »
As some of you already know I like making extender bots and when it comes to extender bots I tend to go a tad over the top. (As in 4000.0kg over the top) But when it comes to building a combat effective bot I'm clueless, plus I've never really had a crack at actually building in DSL 2.2 and sticking to within a weight class.

I've had a spare couple of hours today so here we go with my first DSL 2.2 build, potentially for Badger's International Tournament.

"Parting Is Such Swede Sorrow" or the acronym "P.I.S.S.S" (as in what Swedish beer tastes like)

- Parting Is Such Swede Sorrow

- Internals (Without the shell)

720.2kg Weight (60kg left to fit in some teeth)

x2 Slimbody (Drive Motor)
x1 E-Tek (Weapon Motor)
x4 WP836E Batteries
x1 Ax2250 Control Unit

Armor panels don't do damage. Put beater bars or teeth on the bottom of the armor panels instead of the wedge edges and you should be good to go.

EDIT: also holy sh** that's amazing

Nonetheless looks super cool. Kudos to you for managing to make a full body spinner interesting

i swear i've seen a beyblade somewhere that is suprisingly similar to this thing, iirc it's Divine Chimera, but yeah as you indicated you're gonna need teeth, a self-righting pole like what Megabyte has could be welcome as well

...welp [slam-dunks Dentophobia into the nearest trash can]

Minor nitpick: I'm not sure you'll need that much battery. You should be able to get away with only having WP836Es, and then you'll have enough weight for four Large Typhoon Teeth (one on each yellow segment) and a Megabyte self-righting pole thing on top. Externally, however, it looks bloody awesome.

So essentially turn it into a Swedish Coloured 'Not'-Megabyte? Well if you say so. :)

Removed x2 WP836Es and reduced the black extender work underneath and added x4 Typhoon Teeth and the SR Pole, coming to a total weight of 790.5kg.

Yeah, that is one good-looking FBS, and it should hit pretty hard if given enough time to spin up. Great job!

As already stated, looks amazing. Loving the punny name too. How's the shell's balance handle over time? Historically I've had some trouble with 2wd shells going Mauler without making contact.

99% sure that's because the shell's rubbing against the ground due to 2wd

bot looks sick. how are you so good at this aaaa

Wow thank you for all the wonderful feedback guys!

The worst I've seen is a small hop and that was after spinning whilst also holding down the right turn key, the shell is everyl so slightly off the ground. The biggest issue this robot has is getting up to speed. I've worked out that if this was a 100kg robot, the shell would weigh 76.6kg...

Here's another crack at a DSL IRL Heavyweight, the end result turned into a combination of Tornado's frame with Season Two Bite Force's Weapon Setup and a police car themed paint job which gives us;

"Cardiac Arrest" - Vertical Bar Spinner

795.8kg Weight

x4 Slimbodys (Drive Motor)
x1 Perm 130 (Weapon Motor)
x4 WP836E Batteries
x1 Ax2250 Control Unit

Real ****in nice

You're gonna want to put some of the wedge edges (can't remember the exact name) on your front armour panels so your bot doesn't get outwedged by everything under the sun

Lol Thyrus, cheers lads!  ;)

That's within the weight limit? No ****ing way. You're a god, man

It was a challenge, I had to sacrifice having a chassis and reduce the weapon size to fit it all in!

Whoops, thanks for reminding me! I've built and deleted the front so many times I've forgotten to rebuild those...

Jumped into the world of DSL building again, this time without having much of an idea what to build I started with a basic hammer setup and just kind of went from there resulting in;

- SUBMISSION -

795.5kg Weight
x4 Slimbodys (Drive Motor)
x1 Hammer Servo (Weapon Motor)
x2 WP836E Batteries
x1 Ax2250 Control Unit

- Front View

- Submission's Hammer Fired

Looks good as per usual.

x1 Ax2250 Control Unit
Wow! My family's too poor to afford a whole Ax2250 Control Unit!
