The Advanced Attaching Method is something that Jimxorb showed me and I took it a little further. As you may already know, some components in this pack are just plain huge. Larger than the Max Sphere allows you to attach in the botlab. This is a way to get around that. By following these steps you can successfully place components that would have otherwise been impossible to place in the botlab.
What Parts Do I Need To Attach This Way?Well, to be frank, most of them. But please do not expect it to always work out perfectly, the way the attachment points were set for these parts were meant for one bot and one bot only.
To use the advanced placement method you must first select a stock component that can be placed on the object you want the AU Pack component to be placed on. I like the UniversalT connector because it can be placed on everything but the base and most AU Pack components are not base plate components anyway. So now go to your components folder found inside your main RA2 directory(durhhh... but I have to think about the n00bs sometimes!). Now go to the component folder called universalT, copy universalT1.GMF and then go to the folder of the AU Pack component you wish to attach. Paste it in that folder and then rename the original AU Pack component something like componentnamehere_orig.GMF and rename UniversalT1.GMF to the name of that component.
Now launch your RA2 game(the one with the AU Pack installed...omg...) and go to the bot or create the bot that you want to place the component on. Go to the AU Pack component that you replaced with the universalT extender. Place it where you want it. It's ok if it shows up white, that is because you probably didnt move its skin which isnt really important to us right now. Once you have it placed where you want the AU Pack part to be then exit the game and move on to the next step.
Now go back to the component folder of the AU Pack component you want to place and delete the "fake" GMF we created earlier. Then rename the "_orig" GMF back to what it used to be(the name of the "fake" component you just deleted). For the last step, launch your RA2 game again and go back to that bot that you placed the "fake" universalT on and look at what you just did.
