Title: We have a sad 10th anniversary coming up.
Post by: Wolfsbane on May 08, 2014, 06:17:49 PM
On October 3rd, 2004, we lost Lu-Tze. She changed how RA2 works today. If it wasn't for her, we wouldn't have some notable arenas, fun custom components, or maybe even the DSL mod. And the tenth anniversary of her passing is coming up, so I thought in the meantime we could brainstorm on how we would dedicate October 3rd, 2014 to her. Thoughts, words of wisdom, and any other means of expression are welcome.

I never knew Lut-Zhe, but her contributions to RA2 and her legace MUST be remembered.
Maybe a BoTM type contest dedicated to her or perhaps a tournament, or even BOTH.

I can't believe it's been 10 years, really. I remember when goose originally broke the news to the community. :(

A tribute does not have to be extravagant. A few years ago when someone very close to me passed away I closed down the homepage of GatorAIDS with a landing page that had a picture of him, his name and lifetime, and a short message of farewell. I've consistently taken down the front page of my own personal website each year on the anniversary of his passing. The same could be done for Lu-Tze. :)

I'm probably going to forget this in 5 months, but when october rolls around I'll try making a tribute bot in the original DSL 1 (if I can find it).

I have 3 different copies of DSL 1 floating around somewhere on my laptop if you want me to upload it.

A DSL1 tournament/BOTM seems appropriate, and I like RFS' idea.

I'm confident in AI'ing now (at least simple omni bindings) and would be willing to host it, but I think it would be better off if a major league tournament user could do it, because I think more than 16 entries would be entered.

I have a (clean?) copy of DSL1, so I'd be fine with a DSL1 tournament.

I believe I'll be in major league after my tournament, so I could host.

And the tenth anniversary of her passing is coming up, so I thought in the meantime we could brainstorm on how we would dedicate October 3rd, 2014 to her.

I had some vague plans for DSL3 to make a secret "boss team" of cheaty UHW bots that would be sort of like the ultimate challenge to beat with a normal bot.  I don't have all the details worked out, but there was going to be a bot for Darkrat, a bot for Starcore, and a bot for Lu-Tze.  Possibly other people too, but those three for certain.

I don't know when I was going to get around to making those bots, but October 3rd seems like a good deadline for doing Lu-Tze's boss bot.  Thanks for the reminder.

I never knew something so sad could happen in such a place like this, I've got the idea for a memorial message:
Life is like a path, twisting in the bad and good ways and in ways you wouldn't expect, Lu-Tze found the end of her path too soon, but when she did, God found her. She will be greatly missed by everyone here on earth, but heaven has gained an angel

Even when i didnt heard about her before 2014.... i have a idea.

Like adding a  memorial message what appears every year during 3 october on forum headers. Whit text[or image] :

Code: [Select]
     [center]                                  Lu-Tze
                                        Birthdate-2004 3rd october
We all forget important persons, but we will never forget them/ or other memorial text.
.

I have some template ideas(backround and/or font.

I never had the pleasure because im to new here. However she lives on both through this forum, and the things that she contributed. I vote for the tourney at the very least.

Brain tumor, if I remember correctly.
