Separating the community between multiple forums reduces its overall strength. We have had something like that in the past but all it did was form feuds that were allowed to fester between the forums. At one point, we even tried having a forum for the advanced users (to get away from the n00bs) but that lasted for an even shorter amount of time...

this brings forth a small side project I was tinkering with...

http://Backlash.robotarena.info

but for the reason Trov just mentioned

Separating the community between multiple forums reduces its overall strength.

I chose not to use it (but had some fun building the theme from scratch) Backlash is and will be much stronger within GTM, it can be seen on other users forums on this website, Gazea's forum is one (no offense) but you can see how little the community moves over so pulling it apart would really reduce the size big time (plus I wuv GTM  :gawe: )

eFFe and I were working on it. Gave up once our framework (Ogre + Ageia) was too limited. Then we were supposed to get started again, but eFFe didn't have much time to work on the project. I am still doing some OpenGL game engine programming in my free time.

We used Ogre. It sucked, since without modifications to the engine (thus requiring me to understand the internal working of this monster)
  • you had to use their file format for 3d files (which wouldn't let you add any physics-based preferences, unless you shipped it with a separate text file
  • it was all too high-level for a game that requires direct access to vertex lists and face indices
  • it was all  too complicated and had features we'd ever use
  • the Ageia binding were absolute sh**

Also, I was hoping to do some 3D development on my netbook, but it looks like my graphics card doesn't support OpenGL 2.0 (using which I already started developing my engine on my dev box). Oh well, I'll have to wait a month to get back to Warsaw.

I'd like to suggest a single piece dog-leg shaped extender with varying lengths of both segments. Also choice of angle. Could use the alloys available and their hit points.

It'd be useful in making grippy arms and cool looking scorpion tail type weapons.
