step 1: download reshade here: https://reshade.me/

step 2: download d3d8to9 here: https://github.com/crosire/d3d8to9/releases

step 3: open the reshade.exe, click browse in the bottom corner, and direct it towards your main ra2.exe. check all of the boxes and install the shaders

step 4: copy and paste the d3d8.dll to your main ra2 directory

step 5: launch ra2 and follow the on screen tutorial to get started (fyi, it seems that you aren't able to run ra2 in compatibility mode while using reshade, so you'll probably want to use fullscreen)
