Title: Real world learning what we've known for a while
Post by: Somebody on July 09, 2011, 08:37:36 PM
This shows that flails are more effective! The weapons stand up to more abuse against tough things (like against a chain link fence, or razor tips against a 70kg hammer), they do more damage (cutting through plywood, or eating up bot armor), and that 8 is the best amount of lines (or weapons). I think that they'll end up with 10 or 12 on there one day though.  ;)

Yes I say this jokingly, but it is honestly what I thought when I first saw the commercial.

There actually is some truth to the whole "flails multiply damage done"  Of course it should only be effective on plywood-strength armour, not steel and titanium that most robots use

It showed it cutting through metal too. Very thin metal, and nothing near that "10 mm Steel" that we can use.
