percision part placement help
« on: May 02, 2005, 10:38:21 PM »
An XYZ cordnet system (where you can just type in the cordnets of the part) would have been nice and it would be a nice thing to add.  But, sence we don't have that...

What is the best way to place a part with exact percision? (where one pixle means the difference on a part fitting or not)

Well, there is two things:

>DSL's measuring bar
>Trial & Error

Trial and error is very precise (especially after the 5th or 6th try)

So I would have to suggest trial and error, BUT, DSL's measuring bar helps sometimes. Lucky for you the motors are not exactly the same left and right, so you can be a little off and still be precise.

Or there's mega-zooming (Firebeetle discovered this).

Go to the bot overview and then zoom in as far as possible.  Wait for a couple seconds, then go to Parts (it may take a few tries to get it to work).  You'll be zoomed in farther than you can normally go when you're adding parts, so you'll be able to more precisely place components.  Just don't rotate your bot at all or else it will zoom back out.

I found that out right at the start when I got the game, it doesn't really help to much.
