Title: Headcrab/ jumper idea
Post by: Chaosenigma on April 08, 2007, 03:40:12 AM: Got bored once, so i tried to make an urchin out of pistons, and lo and behold, when i fired off alot of the top pistons, the recoil from the pistons made the bot fly around semi controllably.

As an idea for a part, how about a high recoil, small piston that can be used in bots to make them jump.

With pistons it sucked, but I made it with burst motors, and it was pretty funny. I am even sure I could control it with proper wiring. But I lost it.

Its something that looks like matrix sentinel flying medusa robots...
So i put a lot pistons for like theyr tentacle...
After starting rapidly pressing fire pistons button bot start to fly over arena with jerk pushes...
But its uncontrolable and useless...Not to mansion how fast i run out of CO2 :)...
And the bot must be lighter as posible... BUT its look mega cool to watching how he fly exactly like matrix sentinel with periodic pushes...

Jump bots are difficult, really difficult, to make with pistons. I tried, but no. Jump bots are better made with bursts. Ever wondered why no one made a decent srimech with pistons?

But this matrix bot is not with all over pistons, they are pointing at one direction...
And he fly its not jumper :) ...
But you give me a good idea...You know how much i like freak bots...
I will try to make a jumper headgrab like in Half-Life :) ...
