Why is it that all GTM Members think that Spambots sell Viagra?

Well the forum stats currently show the male to female ratio as 40.3 to 1

Apparently the clever spambots see this stat.

There was that one time we had a Spambot peddling Womens Skiwear, jewelry, and whatnot.  But Barbie had not been around in while and Scourge of teh Galaxy had not joined yet.  Poor timing I guess.  I am sure that both of them would have snatched up some Skibunny outfits.

Barbie would have gotten the pink one with baby seals on it.

Scourge prolly would have gotten the orange one to use for Naruto Cosplay.

Getting even some of us to a face-to-face may be extremely difficult. (ACAMS and I almost overlapped while I was at a business convention for Intel in Louisana)

There is other ways to consider that could happen, like a Webcam virtual conference. There is software that gathers multiple webcams to a group session.

Food for thought...

My social skills fail miserably, and I'd never be able to start conversations with loads of people. I'd say that's.... Naryar's job.
My above post explains everything about everything.

Webcamming's not a bad idea. The new version Skype apparently supports multi-person video conferences. I'll look around.

It could be possible - cos we're all in different time zones - to have this webcam conference over 24 hours or something, then people won't have to get up in the middle of the night or skip work etcetc, if you get what I mean.

Sounds like a great idea.

I think we should do webcam conferences. Prehaps once every couple of months.

I'm setting up a conferencing server called dimdim. It looks pretty cool because it doesn't require anything apart a webbrowser with Flash installed (and, of course, a mike and a webcam).

Well we would have to just write down the time zones and figure out the best one for all of us to be there. Nearly all of us are USA or UK, so morning here would basically be afternoon there. And I know that Joe is exactly 12 hours from me so if we got the right day, maybe during the summer (there goes school) and on a saturday (no work) it could work.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

Yeah, like TeamSpeak, Ventrilo or Mumble but with video.

(I also have a Mumble server if anybody cares. nectarine.q3k.org, port 1236. Use it if you want to)

A webcam is a heck of alot cheaper to acquire than any amount of travel.

And for those that were unable to procure or install a webcam, yes they could voice and/or text for the conference.

As to things we could do in such a meeting.

* Meet&Greet time (see the people you have been chatting with for months to years)
* Show off real life projects (bots built or being built, Gundam collections, Lego replicas of RA2 bots)
* Discuss types of tournaments we all would like to do (voice and video chat can do in minutes what can take weeks to months of forum chat)
* Teamwork brainstorm on projects that have been dormant or non-starters (Wiki, new AI packs, new Arenas, mods, RA2 Servers)

Yes it could be done multiple times at different times of the day to accomodate people that were unable to attend prior sessions.

And yes the shy could watch the recap videos, or get up the nerve and/or HW to attend the next one in greater depth.
