I'm thinking of a Lava Arena, a flat arena with no walls protecting you, slopes on the sides of the arena, and LAVA! To burn your armor off, and send your bot flying!

I would love a arena with a hazard like the screws from Battlebots.

The idea I've got is using the Megaton Complex arena from RA1 (Image removed from quote.)
Take away the hazard in the middle, add the screws in the middle walls and an OOTA zone.

This would be so cool to have made.

We need more KOTH and tabletop maps.
I just came up with a KOTH map idea, it'd be sort of like the Flextop sumo map, but instead the circle part doesn't... you know... bounce back and forth like a bull on cocaine, and instead spins around a middle section; the capture point. The spinning wouldn't be super duper speed-of-5-stacked-Dual-Perms fast, but it would be enough to make getting on the hill a little tricky. The hill would also be higher than the rest of the map and a little sloped on all sides, keeping the middle mostly flat, like all of the other KOTH maps.

The spinning would be the hazard, and when you turn the hazards off, it's just a basic radial KOTH map.

I would like a tabletop arena that is like the fight to the finish in which it is square shaped but two sides are guarded for half the match and then they are lowered.

Another hazard would be two conveyor belts running opposite from each other.

Some Table Top Arena ideas:

Is it possible to do like a waving scaffold on the arena, because I'm thinking a square wood plank always in motion could be interesting.

Something like The Aggrocrag from Guts, except with probably less cliff faces. I don't know, this seems lengthy, but it could also be a decent KOTH map with more ramps.

Speaking of old Nick Game Shows, you remember the Steps of Knowledge from Legends of the Hidden Temple? That could be an interesting map, though since it's just sharp drops... that may not be good. You could add on curved passages to go up/down though. I'd add some sort of rails though on that.

KOTH Map Ideas:
Is it possible to put saws around a capture spot? Because I'd have a small area, where any bot can fit, but still small enough where getting there is tricky without taking some damage. Add in a bottom slopes, to make it more of... like Pyramid arena, but the top small part removed, and just more of a slope.

It may be hard, but an arena that rewards strategy over hitpoints (aka billyun razrs) would be a good idea. I know hazards that take away hitpoints have been done before, but we could go a couple steps further. For example, there could be a point deduction for every time the game thinks your robot is immobile. Similar the drop zone in the RW arena or the spikes on the Combat Zone, if you stay in a certain spot for too long, an invisible object "hits" you and removes points, so to speak. For every second after it has begun, a larger amount of points disappear from your score. For the competitors themselves, there would be a smartzone on the top of the robot for every time it gets flipped, that removes points. Invertible robots would have a smaller deduction. If this idea is done correctly, robots might be more imaginative. It would also give bot builders a more realistic fighting style rather than having to pin your opponent against the wall every time it's flipped (aka Grog).

Most of what you are explaining is easy to do but I don't see it changing much in terms of building or strategy. The stock AI has issues with invertibility and pinning but you don't see it as much in other AI packs. It also gives an advantage to rammers, HS, and popups which are already some of the strongest bot types.

That said, if you would like to learn how to do it yourself, feel free to PM me about it. It is actually much easier than you are making it out to be. It's all PY stuff so there is no need for any smartzones or pneumatics.

Does anyone else here know how to mod arena's? I'm looking for someone to mod the Robo Zone arena for a new type of tag team match, here are the details:

*1 bot from each team starts the match.
*1 bot from each team starts in a cage.
*every 30 seconds the current robots go to their team mates cage to make a tag.
*when a robot is taken down to below 80% or so health it goes to make a tag.
*During a tag the 2 robots from each team replace each other (active robot moves into cage and caged robot moves out of the cage), The robot who made the tag heals over time in the cage.

I think this mod could replace the current multi-bot mode (I'm still not sure exactly what that does) and be a nice prize for my upcoming tournament.

I had an idea for a possible arena, probably better for p v ai than ai v ai, but oh well. I make it in the CSGO hammer editor because that's the only 3d mapping/modeling thing that I know how to use, so deal w/ it.

Oh, and the place that the guym is standing in the 1st pic would be a good place for some pop-up spikes, a little like the saws in the battlebox, and a lot like the series 3 RW spikes.

One idea I have (if someone hasn't suggested it already) would be a fight in a sawmill.  It would probably have the building itself as the arena with a wooden floor, perhaps with some timber and equipment lying about.  As for hazards it would probably have a crane that would drop a whole load of logs if you stayed under it too long, have pulverizers in each corner (except replacing the hammers with ax heads), and what is a sawmill without a huge ass buzzsaw?

We need a RR replica arena. One with a very small non-KO pit (to allow bots to flip themselves out, and other stuff like that), low arena walls, and a samll active flipper. I know it's not anything special, but it's something easy that I've wanted for a long time.
Oh I'll be doing some banging.......

I think somebody did make a replica of it at some point, but I don't know if anyone still has it.

I think Goose made the replica of it but it was never finished. IIRC, the rails and bridges are missing. There are also some aesthetics that are a little off (like the proportions, walls, and audience) but you get the idea.

I can repackage and upload it if nobody has the original ZIP/RAR. My primary concern is that I'm not sure if it came with a readme and I would prefer that it kept it if it did.
