AP Angle Generator?
« on: October 26, 2010, 07:39:58 AM »
Hey all
Just an idea i came up with a few seconds ago for the coding heads of the forum :P
Click recently introduced the method of resizing GMF objects with Excell, so i was wondering if there was a special formula or a programm that could be developed to give the points needed certain angles for Attachment points?
ATM im using a decompiled Uber Connecter to get 6 basic APs, but its not that good if you want a 45'degree AP for example.
So would there be a certain formula or programme that could be developed to give coordinates for AP angles? (rather than having to use stuff like:
0  0  1
0  1  0
1  0  0
all the time.)
Just a little idea i had lol :P

Damn I should probably put something fancy in this bit huh?

IIRC, the Perm motors in NAR AI have 5 attachment points at 45 degree increments, you could try decompiling that to get them. ;)

thats good, but what if someone wanted a say 47'degree or 89'degree AP, is there a formula/programme for generating the coordinates needed, thats what im asking (lol sorry for not making that clear :P)

I'm guessing it's a sine thing. Like a 90 degree AP would show up as 1, and 0 degrees would be 0, so 45 degrees would end up being 0.7071. RA2 only turns components in 10 degree increments anyway, so a 37 degree AP seems a little bit too awkward, in my view. Just stick to multiples of 5 for now, I reckon.
