Title: "Dummy cluster part"
Post by: Stagfish on November 07, 2010, 05:36:30 AM
Could you modify a cannon so its ammo looks like a cluster bot and when you shoot the cluster bot detaches from your bot, allowing Gemini replicas.

it could bee done

probably just as easy to simply not have the AP attached to the component so the dummy sits in the middle of the arena

But the other gemini replica would be useless because just a component :P

What if we made the component pretty much an invisible attachment point? so it would just appear there is a dummy bot on the front, which shoots off, does damage, returns, repeats, etc.

The invisible component has been made, its called a smartzone with an attachment point.

That's what I mean, except you'd be able to see the ammo. So it would be like a smartzone AP but with a dummy bot on front.

Instead of the cannon, someone built one of the hydraulic cylinders so you could actually "fire" the cylinder out of its housing and all the way across the arena.  I remember mounting a pair of sledgehammers on this thing just for fun .... The only problem was, sometimes the part you had attached to the end of the cylinder would embed in the wall or floor (or ceiling - yes, did that a couple of times), and would break off.
